Salme 111

1 Halleluja! jeg takker Herren af hele mit hjerte i oprigtiges kreds og i menighed!

Hallelujah. I will thank the Lord with all [my] heart, in the council of the upright, and in the congregation.

2 Store er Herrens gerninger, gennemtænkte til bunds.

Great are the works of the Lord, they are sought for [by them] in all their desires.

3 Hans værk er højhed og herlighed, hans retfærd bliver til evig tid.

Glorious and majestic is his doing, and his righteousness endureth for ever.

4 Han har sørget for, at hans undere mindes, nådig og barmhjertig er Herren.

He hath made a memorial for his wonderful works: gracious and merciful is the Lord.

5 Dem, der frygter ham, giver han føde, han kommer for evigt sin pagt i hu.

He hath given sustenance unto those that fear him: he will for ever be mindful of his covenant.

6 Han viste sit folk sine vældige gerninger, da han gav dem folkenes eje.

The power of his works hath he told unto his people, that he might give them the heritage of nations.

7 Hans hænders værk er sandhed og ret, man kan lide på alle hans bud;

The works of his hands are truth and justice: faultless are all his precepts.

8 de står i al evighed fast, udført i sandhed og retsind.

They are well supported for ever and eternally: they are framed in truth and uprightness.

9 Han sendte sit folk udløsning, stifted sin pagt for evigt. Helligt og frygteligt er hans navn.

Redemption hath he sent unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and to be feared is his name.

10 Herrens frygt er visdoms begyndelse; forstandig er hver, som øver den. Evigt varer hans pris!

The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord; a good understanding have all that fulfill [his commandments]: his praise endureth for ever.
