1 Salomos ordsprog. Viis søn glæder sin fader, tåbelig søn er sin moders sorg.
Proverbs of Solomon. A wise son causes a father to rejoice, And a foolish son [is] an affliction to his mother.
2 Gudløsheds skatte gavner intet, men retfærd redder fra død.
Treasures of wickedness do not profit, And righteousness delivers from death.
3 HERREN lader ej en retfærdig sulte, men gudløses attrå støder han fra sig.
YHWH does not cause the soul of the righteous to hunger, And He thrusts away the desire of the wicked.
4 Doven hånd skaber fattigdom, flittiges hånd gør rig.
Poor [is] he who is working [with] a slothful hand, And the hand of the diligent makes rich.
5 En klog søn samler om sommeren, en dårlig sover om høsten.
Whoever is gathering in summer [is] a wise son, Whoever is sleeping in harvest [is] a son causing shame.
6 Velsignelse er for retfærdiges hoved, på uret gemmer gudløses mund.
Blessings [are] for the head of the righteous, And the mouth of the wicked covers violence.
7 Den retfærdiges minde velsignes, gudløses navn smuldrer hen.
The remembrance of the righteous [is] for a blessing, And the name of the wicked rots.
8 Den vise tager mod påbud, den brovtende dåre styrtes.
The wise in heart accepts commands, And a talkative fool kicks.
9 Hvo lydefrit vandrer, vandrer trygt; men hvo der går krogveje, ham går det ilde.
Whoever is walking in integrity walks confidently, And whoever is perverting his ways is known.
10 Blinker man med øjet, volder man ondt, den brovtende dåre styrtes.
Whoever is winking the eye gives grief, And a talkative fool kicks.
11 Den retfærdiges mund er en livsens kilde, på uret gemmer gudløses mund.
A fountain of life [is] the mouth of the righteous, And the mouth of the wicked covers violence.
12 Had vækker Splid, Kærlighed skjuler alle Synder.
Hatred awakens contentions, And love covers over all transgressions.
13 På den kloges Læber fnder man Visdom, Stok er til Ryg på Mand uden Vid.
Wisdom is found in the lips of the intelligent, And a rod [is] for the back of him who is lacking understanding.
14 De vise gemmer den indsigt, de har, Dårens Mund er truende Våde.
The wise lay up knowledge, and the mouth of a fool [is] near ruin.
15 Den riges Gods er hans faste Stad, Armod de ringes Våde.
The wealth of the rich [is] his strong city, The ruin of the poor [is] their poverty.
16 Den retfærdiges Vinding tjener til Liv, den gudløses Indtægt til Synd.
The wage of the righteous [is] for life, The increase of the wicked for sin.
17 At vogte på Tugt er Vej til Livet, vild farer den, som viser Revselse fra sig.
A traveler to life [is] he who is keeping instruction, And whoever is forsaking rebuke is erring.
18 Retfærdige Læber tier om Had, en Tåbe er den, der udspreder Rygter.
Whoever is covering hatred with lying lips, And whoever is bringing out an evil report is a fool.
19 Ved megen Tale undgås ej Brøde, klog er den, der vogter sin Mund.
In the abundance of words transgression does not cease, And whoever is restraining his lips [is] wise.
20 Den retfærdiges Tunge er udsøgt Sølv, gudløses Hjerte er intet værd.
The tongue of the righteous [is] chosen silver, The heart of the wicked—as a little thing.
21 Den retfærdiges Læber nærer mange, Dårerne dør af Mangel på Vid.
The lips of the righteous delight many, And fools die for lack of heart.
22 HERRENs Velsignelse, den gør rig, Slid og Slæb lægger intet til.
The blessing of YHWH—it makes rich, And He adds no grief with it.
23 For Tåben er Skændselsgerning en Leg, Visdom er Leg for Mand med Indsigt.
To execute inventions [is] as play to a fool, And wisdom to a man of understanding.
24 Hvad en gudløs frygter, kommer over hans Hoved, hvad retfærdige ønsker, bliver dem givet.
The feared thing of the wicked meets him, And the desire of the righteous is given.
25 Når Storm farer frem, er den gudløse borte, den retfærdige står på evig Grund.
As the passing by of a windstorm, So the wicked is not, And the righteous is a perpetual foundation.
26 Som Eddike for Tænder og Røg for Øjne så er den lade for dem, der sender ham.
As vinegar to the teeth, And as smoke to the eyes, So [is] the slothful to those sending him.
27 HERRENs Frygt lægger dage til, gudløses År kortes af.
The fear of YHWH adds days, And the years of the wicked are shortened.
28 Retfærdige har Glæde i Vente, gudløses Håb vil briste.
The hope of the righteous [is] joyful, And the expectation of the wicked perishes.
29 For lydefri Vandel er HERREN et Værn, men en Rædsel for Udådsmænd.
The way of YHWH [is] strength to the perfect, And ruin to workers of iniquity.
30 Den retfærdige rokkes aldrig, ikke skal gudløse bo i Landet.
The righteous is not moved for all time, And the wicked do not inhabit the earth.
31 Den retfærdiges Mund bærer Visdoms Frugt, den falske Tunge udryddes.
The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, And the tongue of contrariness is cut out.
32 Den retfærdiges Læber søger yndest, gudløses Mund bærer Falskheds Frugt.
The lips of the righteous know a pleasing thing, And the mouth of the wicked perverseness!
