1 Og HERREN talede til Moses og sagde:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
2 "Skaf Israelitterne Hævn over Midjaniterne; så skal du samles til din Slægt!"
Avenge the wrongs of the children of Israel on the Madianites, and afterwards you shall be added to your people.
3 Da talte Moses til Folket og sagde: "Udrust Mænd af eders Midte til Kamp, for at de kan falde over Midjan og fuldbyrde HERRENs Hævn på Midjan;
And Moses spoke to the people, saying, Arm some of you, and set yourselves in array before the Lord against Madian, to inflict vengeance on Madian from the Lord.
4 1000 Mand af hver af Israels Stammer skal I sende i Kamp!"
Send a thousand of each tribe from all the tribes of the children of Israel to set themselves in array.
5 Af Israels Tusinder udtoges da 1000 af hver Stamme, i alt 12.000 Mand, rustede til Kamp.
And they numbered of the thousands of Israel a thousand of [each] tribe, twelve thousands; [these were] armed for war.
6 Og Moses sendte dem i kamp, 1000 af hver Stamme, og sammen med dem Pinehas, Præsten Eleazars Søn, der medbragte de hellige Redskaber og Alarmtrompeterne.
And Moses sent them away a thousand of every tribe with their forces, and Phinees the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest: and the holy instruments, and the signal trumpets [were] in their hands.
7 De drog så ud i kamp mod Midjaniterne, som HERREN havde pålagt Moses, og dræbte alle af Mandkøn;
And they set themselves in array against Madian, as the Lord commanded Moses; and they killed every male.
8 og foruden de andre, der blev slået ihjel, dræbte de også Midjans Konger, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur og Reba, Midjans fem Konger; også Bileam, Beors Søn, dræbte de med Sværdet.
And they killed the kings of Madian together with their slain [subjects]; even Evi and Rocon, and Sur, and Ur, and Roboc, five kings of Madian; and they killed with the sword Balaam the son of Beor with their [other] slain.
9 Og Israelitterne bortførte Midjaniternes kvinder og Børn som Krigsfanger, og alt deres Kvæg alle deres Hjorde og alt deres Gods tog de med som Bytte;
And they made a prey of the women of Madian, and their store, and their cattle, and all their possessions: and they spoiled their forces.
10 og alle deres Byer på de beboede Steder og alle deres Teltlejre stak de Ild på.
And they burnt with fire all their cities in the places of their habitation and they burnt their villages with fire.
11 Og alt det røvede og hele Byttet, både Mennesker og Dyr, tog de med sig,
And they took all their plunder, and all their spoils, both man and beast.
12 og de bragte Fangerne, Byttet og det røvede til Moses og Præsten Eleazar og Israelitternes Menighed i Lejren på Moabs Sletter ved Jordan over for Jeriko.
And they brought to Moses and to Eleazar the priest, and to all the children of Israel, the captives, and the spoils, and the plunder, to the camp to Araboth Moab, which is at Jordan by Jericho.
13 Men Moses, Præsten Eleazar og alle Menighedens Øverste gik dem i Møde uden for Lejren,
And Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the rulers of the synagogue went forth out of the camp to meet them.
14 og Moses blev vred på Hærens Førere, Tusindførerne og Hundredførerne, som kom tilbage fra Krigstoget.
And Moses was angry with the captains of the host, the heads of thousands and the heads of hundreds who came from the battle-array.
15 Og Moses sagde til dem: "Har I ladet alle Kvinder i Live?
And Moses said to them, Why have you saved every female alive?
16 Det var jo dem, der efter Bileams Råd blev Årsag til, at Israelitterne var troløse mod HERREN i den Sag med Peor, så at Plagen ramte HERRENs Menighed.
For they were [the occasion] to the children of Israel by the word of Balaam of their revolting and despising the word of the Lord, because of Phogor; and there was a plague in the congregation of the Lord.
17 Dræb derfor alle Drengebørn og alle kvinder, der har kendt Mand og haft Samleje med Mænd;
Now then kill every male in all the spoil, kill every woman, who has known the lying with man.
18 men alle Piger, der ikke har haft Samleje med Mænd, skal I lade i Live og beholde,
And as for all the captivity of women, who have not known the lying with man, save you them alive.
19 Men selv skal I lejre eder uden for Lejren i syv Dage, enhver, som har dræbt nogen, og enhver, som har rørt ved en dræbt, og rense eder på den tredje og den syvende Dag, både I selv og eders Krigsfanger.
And you shall encamp outside the [great] camp seven days; every one who has slain and who touches a dead body, shall be purified on the third day, and you and your captivity [shall purify yourselves] on the seventh day.
20 Og enhver Klædning, enhver Læder ting, alt, hvad der er lavet af Gedehår, og alle Træredskaber skal I rense!"
And you shall purify every garment and every leather utensil, and all furniture of goat skin, and every wooden vessel.
21 Og Præsten Eleazar sagde til Krigerne, der havde været med i Kampen: "Dette er det Lovbud, HERREN har givet Moses:
And Eleazar the priest said to the men of the host that came from the battle-array, This [is] the ordinance of the law which the Lord has commanded Moses.
22 Kun Guld, Sølv, kobber, Jern, Tin og Bly,
Beside the gold, and the silver, and the brass, and the iron, and lead, and tin,
23 alt, hvad der kan tåle Ild, skal I lade gå gennem Ild, så bliver det rent; dog må det renses med Renselsesvand. Men alt, hvad der ikke kan tåle Ild, skal I lade gå gennem Vand.
every thing that shall pass through the fire shall so be clean, nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of sanctification; and whatever will not pass through the fire shall pass through water.
24 Og eders klæder skal I tvætte på den syvende Dag, så bliver I rene og kan gå ind i Lejren."
And on the seventh day you shall wash your garments, and be clean; and afterwards you shall come into the camp.
25 Og HERREN talede til Moses og sagde:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
26 "Sammen med Præsten Eleazar og Overhovederne for Menighedens Fædrenehuse skal du opgøre det samlede Bytte, der er taget, både Mennesker og Dyr.
Take the sum of the spoils of the captivity both of man and beast, you and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the families of the congregation.
27 Derefter skal du dele Byttet i to lige store Dele mellem dem, der har taget Del i Krigen og været i Kamp, og hele den øvrige Menighed.
And you shall divide the spoils between the warriors that went out to battle, and the whole congregation.
28 Derpå skal du udtage en Afgift til HERREN fra krigerne, der har været i Kamp, et Stykke af hver fem Hundrede, både af Mennesker, Hornkvæg, Æsler og Småkvæg;
And you shall take a tribute for the Lord from the warriors that went out to battle; one soul out of five hundred, from the men, and from the cattle, even from the oxen, and from the sheep, and from the asses; and you shall take from their half.
29 det skal du tage af den Halvdel, som tilfalder dem, og give Præsten Eleazar det som Offerydelse til HERREN.
And you shall give [them] to Eleazar the priest [as] the first fruits of the Lord.
30 Men af den Halvdel, der tilfalder de andre Israelitter, skal du tage et Stykke af hver halvtredsindstyve, både af Mennesker, Hornkvæg, Æsler og Småkvæg, alt Kvæget, og give det til Leviterne, som tager Vare på, hvad der er at varetage ved HERRENs Bolig!"
And from the half belonging to the children of Israel you shall take one in fifty from the men, and from the oxen, and from the sheep, and from the asses, and from all the cattle; and you shall give them to the Levites that keep the charges in the tabernacle of the Lord.
31 Da gjorde Moses og Præsten Eleazar, som HERREN havde pålagt Moses.
And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the Lord commanded Moses.
32 Og det, de havde taget, det tiloversblevne af Byttet, som Krigsfolket havde gjort, udgjorde 675000 Stykker Småkvæg,
And that which remained of the spoil which the warriors took, was—of the sheep, six hundred and seventy-five thousand:
33 72 000 Stykker Hornkvæg,
and oxen, seventy-two thousand:
34 61 000 Æsler
and asses, sixty-one thousand.
35 og 32008 Mennesker, Kvinder, der ikke havde haft Samleje med Mænd.
And persons of women who had not known lying with man, all the souls, thirty-two thousand.
36 Den Halvdel, der tilfaldt dem, der havde været i Kamp, udgjorde altså et Tal af 337500 Stykker Småkvæg,
And the half, [even] the portion of them that went out to war, from the number of the sheep, was three hundred and thirty-seven thousand and five hundred.
37 hvoraf Afgiften til HERREN udgjorde 675 Stykker Småkvæg,
And the tribute to the Lord from the sheep was six hundred and seventy-five.
38 36000 Stykker Hornkvæg, hvoraf 72 i Afgift til HERREN,
And the oxen, six and thirty thousand, and the tribute to the Lord seventy-two.
39 30500 Æsler, hvoraf til i Afgift til HERREN,
And asses, thirty thousand and five hundred, and the tribute to the Lord, sixty-one:
40 og 16000 Mennesker, hvoraf 32 i Afgift til HERREN.
and the persons, sixteen thousand, and the tribute of them to the Lord, thirty-two souls.
41 Og Moses overgav Afgiften, HERRENs Offerydelse, til Præsten Eleazar, som HERREN havde pålagt Moses.
And Moses gave the tribute to the Lord, the heave-offering of God, to Eleazar the priest, as the Lord commanded Moses;
42 Og af den Halvdel, som tilfaldt de andre Israelitter, og som Moses havde taget som deres del fra de Mænd, der havde været i Kamp
from the half belonging to the children of Israel, whom Moses separated from the men of war.
43 denne Menighedens Halvdel udgjorde 337 500 Stykker Småkvæg,
And the half [taken] from the sheep, belonging to the congregation, was three hundred and thirty-seven thousand and five hundred.
44 36 000 Stykker Hornkvæg,
And the oxen, thirty-six thousand;
45 30 500 Æsler
asses, thirty thousand and five hundred;
46 og 16000 Mennesker
and persons, sixteen thousand.
47 af den Halvdel, som tilfaldt de andre Israelitter, udtog Moses et Stykke for hver halvtredsindstyve, både af Mennesker og Kvæg, og gav dem til Leviterne, som tog Vare på, hvad der var at varetage ved HERRENs Bolig, som HERREN havde pålagt Moses.
And Moses took of the half belonging to the children of Israel the fifties part, of men and of cattle, and he gave them to the Levites who keep the charges of the tabernacle of the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.
48 Da trådte Førerne for Hærens Afdelinger, Tusindførerne og Hundredførerne, hen til Moses
And all those who were appointed to be officers of thousands of the host, captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, approached Moses, and said to Moses,
49 og sagde til ham: "Dine Trælle har holdt Mandtal over de krigere, der stod under os; og der manglede ikke en eneste af os;
Your servants have taken the sum of the men of war with us, and not one is missing.
50 derfor frembærer nu enhver af os som Offergave til HERREN, hvad han har taget af Guldsmykker, Armbånd, Spange, Fingerringe, Ørenringe og Halssmykker, for at skaffe os Soning for HERRENs Åsyn."
And we have brought our gift to the Lord, [every] man who has found an article of gold, whether an armlet, or a chain, or a ring, or a bracelet, or a clasp for hair, to make atonement for us before the Lord.
51 Moses og Præsten Eleazar modtog Guldet af dem, alskens med Kunst virkede Smykker;
And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from them, even every wrought article.
52 og alt Offerydelsesguldet, som de ydede HERREN, udgjorde 16750 Sekel, hvilket Tusindførerne og Hundredførerne bragte som Gave.
And all the wrought gold, even the offering that they offered to the Lord, was sixteen thousand and seven hundred and fifty shekels from the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds.
53 Krigerne havde taget Bytte hver for sig.
For the men of war took plunder every one for himself.
54 Så modtog Moses og Præsten Eleazar Guldet af Tusindførerne og Hundredførerne og bragte det ind i Åbenbaringsteltet, for at det skulde bringe Israelitterne i Minde for HERRENs Åsyn.
And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from the captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, and brought the vessels into the tabernacle of witness, a memorial of the children of Israel before the Lord.
