Josua 21

1 Derpå trådte Overhovederne for Leviternes Fædrenehuse frem for Præsten Eleazar og Josua, Nuns Søn, og Overhovederne for de israelitiske Stammers Fædrenehuse

Then came near the ancestral heads of the Levites, unto Eleazar, the priest, and unto Joshua son of Nun, —and unto the ancestral heads of the tribes, of the sons of Israel;

2 og talte således til dem i Silo i Kana'ans Land: "HERREN bød ved Moses, at der skulde gives os nogle Byer at bo i med tilhørende Græsmarker til vort Kvæg."

and spake unto them in Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying: Yahweh himself, commanded, by the hand of Moses, that there should be given unto us cities to dwell in, —with their pasture-lands for our cattle.

3 Da afgav Israeliterne i Følge HERRENs Bud af deres Arvelod følgende Byer med Græsmarker til Leviterne.

So the sons of Israel gave unto the Levites, out of their own inheritance, at the bidding of Yahweh, —these cities, with their pasture-lands.

4 Loddet faldt først for Kehatiternes Slægter, således at Præsten Arons Sønner blandt Leviterne ved Lodkastningen fik tretten Byer af Judas, Simeoniternes og Benjamins Stammer,

And, when the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites, then had the sons of Aaron the priest, from among the Levites—out of the tribe of Judah and out of the tribe of the Simeonites and out of the tribe of Benjamin—by lot, thirteen cities.

5 mens de andre Hehatiter ved Lodkastningen efter deres Slægter fik ti Byer af Efraims og Dans Stammer og Manasses halve Stamme.

And, the sons of Kohath that remained, had—out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim and out of the tribe of Dan and out of the half tribe of Manasseh—by lot, ten cities.

6 Gersoniterne fik ved Lodkastningen efter deres Slægter tretten Byer af Issakars, Asers og Naftalis Stammer og Manasses halve Stamme i Basan.

And, the sons of Gershon, had—out of families of the tribe of Issachar and out of the tribe of Asher and out of the tribe of Naphtali and out of the half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan—by lot, thirteen cities.

7 Merariterne fik efter deres Slægter tolv Byer af Rubens, Gads og Zebulons Stammer.

The sons of Merari, by their families, had—out of the tribe of Reuben and out of the tribe of Gad and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.

8 Og Israeliterne afgav ved Lodkastning følgende Byer med Græsmarker til Leviterne, således som HERREN havde påbudt ved Moses.

So the sons of Israel gave unto the Levites these cities, with their pasture lands, —as Yahweh commanded, by the hand of Moses, by lot.

9 Af Judæernes og Simeoniternes Stammer afgav de følgende ved Navn, nævnte Byer.

Thus then they gave—out of the tribe of the sons of Judah and out of the tribe of the sons of Simeon—these cities which are mentioned by name.

10 Arons Sønner, der hørte til Kehatiternes Slægter blandt Levis Sønner - thi for dem faldt Loddet først - fik følgende:

And the sons of Aaron, from among the sons of Kohath, from among the sons of Levi, had them, —because, theirs, was the first lot;

11 Man gav dem Anaks Stamfader Arbas By, det er Hebron, i Judas Bjerge, med omliggende Græsmarker;

yea there was given unto them, the city of Arba, the father of Anak, the same, is Hebron, in the hill country of Judah, —with the pasture land thereof, round about it;

12 men Byens Mark og Landsbyer gav man Kaleb, Jefunnes Søn, i Eje.

whereas, the fields of the city, and the villages thereof, gave they unto Caleb son of Jephunneh, as his possession.

13 Præsten Arons Sønner gav man Hebron, en af Tilflugtsbyerne for Manddrabere, med omliggende Græsmarker, Libna med omliggende Græsmarker,

But, unto the sons of Aaron the priest, gave they the city of refuge for the manslayer, even Hebron, with the pasture lands thereof, —Libnah also, with her pasture lands;

14 Jattir med omliggende Græsmarker, Esjtemoa med omliggende Græsmarker,

and Jattir with her pasture land, and Eshtemoa with her pasture land;

15 Holon med omliggende Græsmarker, Debir med omliggende Græsmarker,

and Holon, with her pasture land, and Debir, with her pasture land;

16 Asjan med omliggende Græsmarker, Jutta med omliggende Græsmarker og Bet-Sjemesj med omliggende Græsmarker; tilsammen ni Byer af de to Stammer;

and Ain, with her pasture land, and Juttah, with her pasture land, Beth-shemesh, with her pasture land, —nine cities, out of these two tribes.

17 og af Benjamins Stamme Gibeon med omliggende Græsmarker, Geba med omliggende Græsmarker,

And, out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon, with her pasture land, —Geba, with her pasture land;

18 Anatot med omliggende Græsmarker og Alemet med omliggende Græsmarker; tilsammen fire Byer.

Anathoth, with her pasture land, and Almon, with her pasture land, —four cities.

19 Præsternes, Arons Sønners, Byer udgjorde i alt tretten Byer med omliggende Græsmarker.

All the cities of the sons of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities, with their pasture lands.

20 Kehatiternes Slægter af Leviterne, de øvrige Kehatiter, fik de Byer af Efraims Stamme, som tildeltes dem ved Lodkastning.

And, as for the families of the sons of Kohath, the Levites, which remained of the sons of Kohath, the cities of their lot were out of the tribe of Ephraim.

21 Man gav dem Sikem, en af Tilflugtsbyerne for Manddrabere, med omliggende Græsmarker i Efraims Bjerge, Gezer med omliggende Græsmarker,

So they gave unto them a city of refuge for the manslayer, even Shechem with her pasture land, in the hill country of Ephraim, —also Gezer, with her pasture land;

22 Kibzajim med omliggende Græsmarker og Bet-Horon med omliggende Græsmarker; tilsammen fire Byer;

and Kibzaim, with her pasture land, and Beth-horon, with her pasture land, —four cities.

23 og af Dans Stamme Elteke med omliggende Græsmarker, Gibbeton med omliggende Græsmarker,

And, out of the tribe of Dan, Elteke, with her pasture land, —Gibbethon, with her pasture land;

24 Ajjalon med omliggende Græsmarker og Gat-Rimmon med omliggende Græsmarker; tilsammen fire Byer;

Aijalon, with her pasture land, Gath-rimmon, with her pasture land, —four cities.

25 og af Manasses halve Stamme Tånak med omliggende Græsmarker og Jibleam med omliggende Græsmarker; tilsammen to Byer;

And, out of the half tribe of Manasseh, Taanach, with her pasture land, and Gath-rimmon, with her pasture land, —two cities.

26 i alt ti Byer med omliggende Græsmarker tilfaldt de øvrige Kehatiters Slægter.

All the cities, were ten, with their pasture lands: for the families of the sons of Kohath which remained.

27 Blandt Leviternes Slægter fik fremdeles Gersoniterne af Manasses halve Stamme Golan i Basan, en af Tilflugtsbyerne for Manddrabere, med omliggende Græsmarker og Asjtarot med omliggende Græsmarker; tilsammen to Byer;

And, the sons of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, had, out of the half tribe of Manasseh, a city of refuge for the manslayer, even Golan in Bashan, with her pasture land, and Be-eshterah, with her pasture land, —two cities.

28 og af Issakars Stamme Kisjjon med omliggende Græsmarker, Daberat med omliggende Græsmarker,

And, out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishion, with her pasture land, —Daberath, with her pasture land;

29 Jarmut med omliggende Græsmarker og En-Gannim med omliggende Græsmarker; tilsammen fire Byer;

Jarmuth, with her pasture land, En-gannim, with her pasture land, —four cities.

30 og af Asers Stamme Misj'al med omliggende Græsmarker, Abdon med omliggende Græsmarker,

And, out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal, with her pasture land, Abdon, with her pasture land;

31 Helkat med omliggende Græsmarker og Rehob med omliggende Græsmarker; tilsammen fire Byer;

Helkath, with her pasture land, and Rehob, with her pasture land, —four cities.

32 og af Naftalis Stamme Bedesj i Galilæa, en af Tilflugtsbyerne for Manddrabere, med omliggende Græsmarker, Hammot-Dor med omliggende Græsmarker og Hartan med omliggende Græsmarker; tilsammen tre Byer;

And, out of the tribe of Naphtali, a city of refuge for the manslayer—even Kedesh in Galilee, with her pasture land, and Hammoth-dor, with her pasture land, and Kartan, with her pasture land, —three cities.

33 Gersoniternes Byer efter deres Slægter udgjorde i alt tretten med omliggende Græsmarker.

All, the cities of the Gershonites, by their families, were thirteen cities, with their pasture lands.

34 De øvrige Leviter, Merariternes Slægter, fik af Zebulons Stamme Jokneam med omliggende Græsmarker, Karta med omliggende Græsmarker,

And, unto the families of the sons of Merari, the Levites that remained, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam, with her pasture land, —Kartah, with her pasture land;

35 Rimmona med omliggende Græsmarker og Nahalal med omliggende Græsmarker; tilsammen fire Byer;

Dimnah, with her pasture land, Nahalal, with her pasture land, —four cities.

36 og hinsides Jordan over for Jeriko af Rubens Stamme Bezer i Ørkenen på Højsletten, en af Tilflugtsbyerne for Manddrabere, med omliggende Græsmarker, Jaza med omliggende Græsmarker.

And, out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer, with her pasture land, —and Jahaz, with her pasture land;

37 Kedemot med omliggende Græsmarker og Mefa'at med omliggende Græsmarker; tilsammen fire Byer;

Kedemoth, with her pasture land and Mephaath, with her pasture land, —four cities.

38 og af Gads Stamme Ramot i Gilead, en af Tilflugtsbyerne for Manddrabere, med omliggende Græsmarker, Mahanajim med omliggende Græsmarker,

And, out of the tribe of Gad, a city of refuge for the manslayer—even Ramoth in Gilead, with her pasture land, —and Mahanaim, with her pasture land;

39 Hesjbon med omliggende Græsmarker og Ja'zer med omliggende Græsmarker; tilsammen fire Byer;

Heshbon, with her pasture land, Jazer, with her pasture land, —in all, four cities.

40 Byerne, der ved Lodkastningen tilfaldt de øvrige Levitslægter, Merariterne efter deres Slægter, udgjorde i alt tolv.

All the cities for the sons of Merari, by their families, who remained of the families of the Levites, yea their lot was, twelve, cities.

41 Levitbyerne inden for Israeliternes Ejendom udgjorde i alt otte og fyrretyve med omliggende Græsmarker.

All the cities of the Levites, in the midst of the possession of the sons of Israel, were forty-eight cities, with their pasture lands:

42 Disse Byer skulde hver for sig have de omliggende Græsmarker med; det gjaldt for alle disse Byer.

these cities passed, each severally, with its pasture lands round about it; thus, was it with all these cities.

43 Således gav HERREN Israel hele det Land, han havde tilsvoret deres Fædre at ville give dem, og de tog det i Besiddelse og bosatte sig der.

So Yahweh gave unto Israel, all the land which he had sworn to give unto their fathers, —and they took possession thereof, and dwelt therein.

44 Og HERREN gav dem Ro rundt om, ganske som han havde tilsvoret deres Fædre, og ingen iblandt deres Fjender kunde holde Stand over for dem; alle deres Fjender gav HERREN i deres Hånd.

And Yahweh gave them rest round about, according to all that he had sworn unto their fathers, —and there stood not a man before them, of all their enemies; all their enemies, did Yahweh deliver into their hand.

45 Ikke eet af alle de gode Ord, HERREN havde talet til Israels Hus, faldt til Jorden; alle sammen gik de i Opfyldelse.

There failed not a thing, out of all the good things, whereof Yahweh had spoken unto the house of Israel, —the whole, came to pass.
