Esajas 20

1 I det År Tartan kom til Asdod, dengang Assyrerkongen Sargon sendte ham og han angreb Asdod og indtog det,

In the year that Tharthan came unto Ashdod, when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him, and fought against Ashdod, and captured it;

2 på den Tid talede HERREN ved Esajas, Amoz's Søn, således: "Gå hen og løs Sørgeklædet af dine Lænder og drag Skoene af dine Fødder!" Og han gjorde således og gik nøgen og barfodet.

At the same time spoke the Lord by means of Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loosen the sackcloth from off thy loins, and thy shoe shalt thou pull off from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

3 Så sagde HERREN: "Som min Tjener Esajas i trende År har vandret nøgen og barfodet som Tegn og Varsel mod Ægypten og Ætiopien,

And the Lord said, Just as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years as a sign and token for Egypt and for Cush:

4 således skal Assyrerkongen slæbe fangne Ægyptere og bortførte Ætiopere med sig, unge og gamle, nøgne og barfodede, med blottet Bag til Skændsel før Ægypten."

So shall the king of Assyria lead away the prisoners of Egypt, and the exiles of Cush, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with uncovered buttocks, to the disgrace of Egypt.

5 Da skal de forfærdes og blues over Ætiopien, som de så hen til, og over Ægypten, som var deres Stolthed

And they shall be terrified, and ashamed of Cush their trust, and of Egypt their vaunt.

6 Og de, som bor på denne Strand, skal på hin Dag sige: "Se, således gik det med den, vi så hen til, til hvem vi tyede om Hjælp for at frelses fra Assyrerkongen; hvor skal da vi kunne undslippe!"

And the inhabitant of this isle shall say on that day, Behold, such is our trust, whither we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we then escape?
