Efeserne 6
1 I Børn! adlyder eders Forældre i Herren, thi dette er ret.
Children, obey your parents, as children of the Lord; for that is but right.
2 "Ær din Fader og Moder", dette er jo det første Bud med Forjættelse,
‘Honour thy father and mother’ — this is the first Commandment with a promise —
3 "for at det må gå dig vel, og du må leve længe i Landet."
‘So that thou mayest prosper and have a long life on earth.’
4 Og I Fædre! opirrer ikke eders Børn, men opfostrer dem i Herrens Tugt og Formaning!
And fathers, do not irritate your children, but bring them up with Christian discipline and instruction.
5 I Trælle! adlyder eders Herrer efter Kødet med Frygt og Bæven i eders Hjertes Enfold som Kristus;
Slaves, obey your earthly masters, with anxious care, giving them ungrudging service, as if obeying the Christ;
6 ikke med Øjentjeneste, som de, der ville tækkes Mennesker, men som Kristi Tjenere, så I gøre Guds Villie af Hjertet,
not only when their eyes are on you, as if you had merely to please men, but as slaves of Christ, who are trying to carry out the will of God.
7 idet I med god Villie gøre Tjeneste som for Herren, og ikke for Mennesker,
Give your service heartily and cheerfully, as working for the Master and not for men;
8 idet I vide, at hvad godt enhver gør, det skal han få igen af Herren, hvad enten han er Træl eller fri.
for you know that every one will be rewarded by the Master for any honest work that he has done, whether he is a slave or a freeman.
9 Og I Herrer! gører det samme imod dem, så I lade Trusel fare, idet I vide, at både deres og eders Herre er i Himlene, og der er ikke Persons Anseelse hos ham.
And masters, treat your slaves in the same spirit. Give up threatening them; for you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in Heaven, and that before him there is no distinction of rank.
10 For øvrigt bliver stærke i Herren og i hans Styrkes Vælde!
For the future, find strength in your union with the Lord, and in the power which comes from his might.
11 Ifører eder Guds fulde Rustning, for at I må kunne bolde Stand imod Djævelens snedige Anløb.
Put on the full armour of God, so that you may be able to stand your ground against the stratagems of the Devil.
12 Thi for os står Kampen ikke imod Blod og Kød, men imod Magterne, imod Myndighederne, imod Verdensherskerne i dette Mørke, imod Ondskabens Åndemagter i det himmelske. (aiōn g165)
For ours is no struggle against enemies of flesh and blood, but against all the various Powers of Evil that hold sway in the Darkness around us, against the Spirits of Wickedness on high. (aiōn g165)
13 Derfor tager Guds fulde Rustning på, for at I må kunne stå imod på den onde Dag og bestå efter at have fuldbyrdet alt.
Therefore take up the full armour of God, that, when the evil day comes, you may be able to withstand the attack, and, having fought to the end, still to stand your ground.
14 Så står da omgjordede om eders Lænd med Sandhed og iførte Retfærdighedens Panser.
Stand your ground, then, ‘with truth for your belt,’ and ‘with righteousness for your breast-plate,’
15 Fødderne ombundne med Kampberedthed fra Fredens Evangelium;
And with the readiness to serve the Good News of Peace as shoes for your feet.
16 og i alle Forhold løfter Troens Skjold, med hvilket I ville kunne slukke alle den ondes gloende Pile,
At every onslaught take up faith for your shield; for with it you will be able to extinguish all the flaming darts of the Evil One.
17 og tager imod Frelsens Hjelm og Åndens Sværd, som er Guds Ord,
And receive ‘the helmet of Salvation,’ and ‘the sword of the Spirit’ — which is the Message of God — always with prayer and supplication.
18 idet I under al Påkaldelse og Bøn bede til enhver Tid i Ånden og ere årvågne dertil i al Vedholdenhed og Bøn for alle de hellige,
Pray in spirit at all times. Be intent upon this, with unwearying perseverance and supplication for all Christ’s People —
19 også for mig, om at der må gives mig Ord, når jeg oplader min Mund, til med Frimodighed at kundgøre Evangeliets Hemmelighed,
And on my behalf also, that, when I begin to speak, words may be given me, so that I may fearlessly make known the inmost truth of the Good News,
20 for hvis Skyld jeg er et Sendebud i Lænker, for at jeg må have Frimodighed deri til at tale, som jeg bør.
on behalf of which I am an Ambassador — in chains! Pray that, in telling it, I may speak fearlessly as I ought.
21 Men for at også I skulle kende mine Forhold, hvorledes det går mig, da skal Tykikus, den elskede Broder og tro Tjener i Herren kundgøre eder alt;
To enable you, as well as others, to know all that concerns me and what I am doing, Tychicus, our dear Brother and faithful helper in the Master’s Cause, will tell you everything.
22 ham sender jeg til eder, just for at I skulle lære at kende, hvorledes det står til hos os, og for at han skal opmuntre eders Hjerter.
I am sending him to you on purpose that you may learn all about us, and that he may cheer your hearts.
23 Fred være med Brødrene og Kærlighed med Tro fra Gud Fader og den Herre Jesus Kristus!
May God, the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ give our Brothers peace, and love linked with faith.
24 Nåden være med alle dem, som elske vor Herre Jesus Kristus i Uforkrænkelighed!
May God’s blessing be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.
