1 Også eder, da I vare døde ved eders Overtrædelser og Synder,
You were made alive when you were dead in your transgressions and sins,
2 hvori I fordum vandrede efter denne Verdens Tidsånd, efter hans Vis, som hersker over Luftens Magt, over den Ånd, der nu er virksom i Genstridighedens Børn, (aiōn g165)
in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience; (aiōn g165)
3 iblandt hvilke også vi fordum alle vandrede i vort Køds Begæringer og gjorde Kødets og Tankernes Villie og vare af Natur Vredes Børn ligesom også de andre,
among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.
4 men Gud, som er rig på Barmhjertighed, har for sin store Kærligheds Skyld, hvormed han elskede os,
But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us,
5 også da vi vare døde ved vore Overtrædelser, levendegjort os med Kristus - af Nåde ere I frelste!
even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
6 og medoprejst os og sat os med ham i det himmelske i Kristus Jesus,
and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
7 for at han i de tilkommende Tider kunde vise sin Nådes overvættes Rigdom ved Godhed imod os i Kristus Jesus. (aiōn g165)
that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus; (aiōn g165)
8 Thi af Nåden ere I frelste ved Tro, og det ikke af eder selv, Guds er Gaven;
for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
9 ikke af Gerninger, for at ikke nogen skal rose sig.
not of works, that no one would boast.
10 Thi vi ere hans Værk, skabte i Kristus Jesus til gode Gerninger, som Gud forud beredte, for at vi skulde vandre i dem.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.
11 Derfor kommer i Hu, at fordum I Hedninger i Kødet, I, som bleve kaldte Forhud af den såkaldte Omskærelse, der sker i Kødet med Hånden,
Therefore remember that once you, the non-Jews in the flesh, who are called "uncircumcision" by that which is called "circumcision," (in the flesh, made by hands);
12 at I på den Tid, uden for Kristus, vare udelukkede fra Israels Borgerret og fremmede for Forjættelsens Pagter, uden Håb og uden Gud i Verden.
that you were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
13 Nu derimod, i Kristus Jesus, ere I, som fordum vare langt borte, komne nær til ved Kristi Blod.
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
14 Thi han er vor Fred, han, som gjorde begge til eet og nedbrød Gærdets Skillevæg,
For he is our peace, who made both one, and broke down the middle wall of partition,
15 Fjendskabet, da han i sit Kød afskaffede Budenes Lov med dens Befalinger, for at han i sig kunde skabe de to til eet nyt Menneske ved at stifte Fred
having abolished in the flesh the hostility, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man of the two, making peace;
16 og for at forlige dem begge i eet Legeme med Gud ved Korset, idet han ved dette dræbte Fjendskabet.
and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by which he put to death their enmity.
17 Og han kom og forkyndte Fred for eder, som vare langt borte, og Fred for dem, som vare nær.
He came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near.
18 Thi ved ham have vi begge i een Ånd Adgang til Faderen.
For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
19 Så ere I da ikke mere fremmede og Udlændinge, men I ere de helliges Medborgere og Guds Husfolk,
So then you are no longer foreigners and noncitizens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God,
20 opbyggede på Apostlenes og Profeternes Grundvold, idet Hovedhjørnestenen er Kristus Jesus selv,
being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone;
21 i hvem enhver Bygning sammenføjes og vokser til et helligt Tempel i Herren,
in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord;
22 i hvem også I blive medopbyggede til en Guds Bolig i Ånden.
in whom you also are built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.
