Første Krønikebog 18
1 Nogen Tid efter slog David Filisterne og undertvang dem, og han fratog Filisterne Gat med Småbyer.
And it comes to pass after this, that David strikes the Philistines, and humbles them, and takes Gath and its small towns out of the hand of the Philistines;
2 Fremdeles slog han Moabiterne; og Moabiterne blev Davids skatskyldige Undersåtter.
and he strikes Moab, and the Moabites are servants to David, bringing a present.
3 Ligeledes slog David Kong Hadar'ezer af Zoba i Nærheden af Hamat, da han var draget ud for at underlægge sig Egnene ved Eufratfloden.
And David strikes Hadarezer king of Zobah, at Hamath, in his going to establish his power by the Euphrates River,
4 David fratog ham 1.000 Vogne, 7.008 Ryttere og 20.000 Mand Fodfolk og lod alle Hestene lamme på hundrede nær, som han skånede.
and David captures from him one thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, and David utterly destroys all the chariots, and leaves of them [only] one hundred chariots.
5 Og da Aramæerne fra Darmaskus kom Kong Hadar'ezer af Zoba til Hjælp, slog David 22.000 Mand af Aramæerne.
And Aram of Damascus comes to give help to Hadarezer king of Zobah, and David strikes twenty-two thousand men in Aram,
6 Derpå indsatte David Fogeder i det darmaskenske Aram, og Aramæerne blev Davids skatskyldige Undersåtter. Således gav HERREN David Sejr, overalt hvor han drog frem.
and David puts [garrisons] in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans are for servants to David, carrying a present, and YHWH gives salvation to David wherever he has gone.
7 Og David tog de Guldskjolde, Hadar'ezers Folk havde båret, og bragte dem til Jerusalem;
And David takes the shields of gold that have been on the servants of Hadarezer, and brings them to Jerusalem;
8 og fra Hadar'ezers Byer, Tibhat og Kun, bortførte David Kobber i store Mængder; deraf lod Salomo Kobberhavet, Søjlerne og Kobbersagerne lave.
and from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, David has taken very much bronze; with it Solomon has made the bronze sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of bronze.
9 Men da Kong To'u af Hamat hørte, at David havde slået hele Kong Hadar'ezer af Zobas Stridsmagt,
And Tou king of Hamath hears that David has struck the whole force of Hadarezer king of Zobah,
10 sendte han sin Søn Hadoram til Kong David for at hilse på ham og lykønske ham til, at han havde kæmpet med Hadar'ezer og slået ham - Hadar'ezer havde nemlig ligget i Krig med To'u - og han medbragte alle Hånde Sølv-, Guld og Kobbersager.
and he sends his son Hadoram to King David, to ask of him of peace, and to bless him, because that he has fought against Hadarezer and strikes him (for Hadarezer had been a man of wars with Tou); and [with him were] all kinds of vessels, of gold, and silver, and bronze;
11 Også dem helligede Kong David HERREN tillige med det Sølv og Guld, han havde taget fra alle Folkeslagene, Edom, Moab, Ammoniterne, Filisterne og Amalek.
King David has also sanctified them to YHWH with the silver and the gold that he has taken from all the nations, from Edom, and from Moab, and from the sons of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
12 Og Absjaj, Zerujas Søn, slog Edom i Saltdalen, 18000 Mand;
And Abishai son of Zeruiah has struck Edom in the Valley of Salt—eighteen thousand,
13 derpå indsatte han Fogeder i Edom, og alle Edomiterne blev Davids Undersåtter. Således gav HERREN David Sejr, overalt hvor han drog frem.
and he puts garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites are servants to David; and YHWH saves David wherever he has gone.
14 Og David var Konge over hele Israel, og han øvede Ret og Retfærdighed mod hele sit Folk.
And David reigns over all Israel, and he is doing judgment and righteousness to all his people,
15 Joab, Zerujas Søn, var sat over Hæren; Josjafat, Ahiluds Søn, var Kansler;
and Joab son of Zeruiah [is] over the host, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud [is] remembrancer,
16 Zadok, Ahitubs Søn, og Abimelek, Ebjatars Søn, var Præster; Sjavsja var Statsskriver;
and Zadok son of Ahitub and Abimelech son of Abiathar [are] priests, and Shavsha [is] scribe,
17 Benaja, Jojadas Søn, var sat over Kreterne og Pleterne, og Davids Sønner var de ypperste ved Kongens Side.
and Benaiah son of Jehoiada [is] over the Cherethite and the Pelethite, and the chief sons of David [are] at the hand of the king.
