Salme 82

1 En Salme af Asaf. Gud staar frem i Guders Forsamling, midt iblandt Guder holder han Dom:

A psalm of Asaph. God has taken his stand in the divine assembly: in the midst of the gods he holds judgment.

2 »Hvor længe vil I dømme uredeligt og holde med de gudløse? (Sela)

“How long will you crookedly judge, and favor the wicked? (Selah)

3 Skaf de ringe og faderløse Ret, kend de arme og nødstedte fri;

Do right by the weak and the orphan, acquit the innocent poor.

4 red de ringe og fattige, fri dem ud af de gudløses Haand!

Rescue the weak and the needy, save them from the hand of the wicked.

5 Dog, de kender intet, sanser intet, i Mørke vandrer de om, alle Jordens Grundvolde vakler.

“They have neither knowledge nor insight, in darkness they walk to and fro, while the earth’s foundations totter.

6 Jeg har sagt, at I er Guder, I er alle den Højestes Sønner;

It was I who appointed you gods, children of the Most High all of you.

7 dog skal I dø som Mennesker, styrte som en af Fyrsterne!«

Yet like mortals you will surely die, you will fall like any prince.”

8 Rejs dig, o Gud, døm Jorden, thi alle Folkene faar du til Arv!

Arise, O God, judge the earth, for all nations are yours by inheritance.
