1 En Sang. En Salme af Koras Sønner.
A song; a psalm of the sons of Korah. Great is Yahweh and greatly to be praised, in the city of our God on his holy mountain.
2 Stor og højlovet er vor Gud i sin Stad.
Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
3 Smukt løfter sig hans hellige Bjerg, al Jordens Fryd, Zions Bjerg i det højeste Nord, den store Konges By.
God has made himself known in her palaces as a refuge.
4 Som Værn gjorde Gud sig kendt i dens Borge.
For, see, the kings assembled themselves; they passed by together.
5 Thi Kongerne samlede sig, rykked frem tilsammen;
They saw it, then they were amazed; they were dismayed, and they hurried away.
6 de saa og tav paa Stedet, flyed i Angst,
Trembling took hold of them there, pain as when a woman is in labor.
7 af Rædsel grebes de brat, af Veer som en, der føder.
With the east wind you break the ships of Tarshish.
8 Med Østenstormen knuser du Tarsisskibe.
As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of Yahweh of hosts, in the city of our God; God will establish it forever. (Selah)
9 Som vi havde hørt det, saa vi det selv i Hærskarers HERRES By, i vor Guds By; til evig Tid lader Gud den staa. (Sela)
We have thought about your covenant faithfulness, God, in the middle of your temple.
10 I din Helligdom tænker vi, Gud, paa din Miskundhed;
As your name is, God, so is your praise to the ends of the earth; your right hand is full of righteousness.
11 som dit Navn saa lyder din Pris til Jordens Grænser. Din højre er fuld af Retfærd,
Let Mount Zion be glad, let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your righteous decrees.
12 Zions Bjerg fryder sig, Judas Døtre jubler over dine Domme.
Walk around Mount Zion, go round about her; count her towers,
13 Drag rundt om Zion, gaa rundt og tæl dets Taarne,
notice well her walls, and look at her palaces so that you may tell it to the next generation.
14 læg Mærke til dets Ringmur, gaa gennem dets Borge, at I kan melde Slægten, der kommer: Saadan er Gud, vor Gud for evigt og altid, han skal lede os. Al-mut.
For this God is our God forever and ever; he will be our guide to death.
