Salme 24

1 Af David. En Salme. HERRENS er Jorden og dens Fylde, Jorderig og de, som bor derpaa;

On the first day of the week, a psalm for David. The earth is the Lord’s and the fulness thereof: the world, and all they that dwell therein.

2 thi han har grundlagt den paa Have, grundfæstet den paa Strømme.

For he hath founded it upon the seas; and hath prepared it upon the rivers.

3 Hvo kan gaa op paa HERRENS Bjerg, og hvo kan staa paa hans hellige Sted?

Who shall ascend into the mountain of the Lord: or who shall stand in his holy place?

4 Den med skyldfri Hænder og Hjertet rent, som ikke sætter sin Hu til Løgn og ikke sværger falsk;

The innocent in hands, and clean of heart, who hath not taken his soul in vain, nor sworn deceitfully to his neighbour.

5 han faar Velsignelse fra HERREN, Retfærdighed fra sin Frelses Gud.

He shall receive a blessing from the Lord, and mercy from God his Saviour.

6 Saa er den Slægt, som spørger efter ham, som søger dit Aasyn, Jakobs Gud! (Sela)

This is the generation of them that seek him, of them that seek the face of the God of Jacob.

7 Løft eders Hoveder, I Porte, løft jer, I ældgamle Døre, at Ærens Konge kan drage ind!

Lift up your gates, O ye princes, and be ye lifted up, O eternal gates: and the King of Glory shall enter in.

8 Hvo er den Ærens Konge? HERREN, stærk og vældig, HERREN, vældig i Krig!

Who is this King of Glory? the Lord who is strong and mighty: the Lord mighty in battle.

9 Løft eders Hoveder, I Porte, løft jer, I ældgamle Døre, at Ærens Konge kan drage ind!

Lift up your gates, O ye princes, and be ye lifted up, O eternal gates: and the King of Glory shall enter in.

10 Hvo er han, den Ærens Konge? HERREN, Hærskarers Herre, han er Ærens Konge! (Sela)

Who is this King of Glory? the Lord of hosts, he is the King of Glory.
