1 HERREN talede saaledes til Moses i Sinaj Ørken i Aabenbaringsteltet paa den første Dag i den anden Maaned af det andet Aar efter deres Udvandring fra Ægypten:

The LORD spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

2 Optag det samlede Tal paa hele Israeliternes Menighed efter deres Slægter, efter deres Fædrenehuse, ved at tælle Navnene paa alle af Mandkøn, Hoved for Hoved;

“Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, every male, one by one,

3 fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter skal du og Aron mønstre alle vaabenføre Mænd i Israel, Hærafdeling for Hærafdeling;

from twenty years old and upward, all who are able to go out to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall count them by their divisions.

4 en Mand af hver Stamme skal hjælpe eder dermed, Overhovedet for Stammens Fædrenehuse.

With you there shall be a man of every tribe, each one head of his fathers’ house.

5 Navnene paa de Mænd, der skal staa eder bi, er følgende: Af Ruben Elizur, Sjede'urs Søn;

These are the names of the men who shall stand with you: Of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.

6 af Simeon Sjelumiel, Zurisjaddajs Søn;

Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

7 af Juda Nahasjon, Amminadabs Søn;

Of Judah: Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

8 af Issakar Netan'el, Zuars Søn;

Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.

9 af Zebulon Eliab, Helons Søn;

Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Helon.

10 af Josefs Sønner: Af Efraim Elisjama, Ammihuds Søn, af Manasse Gamliel, Pedazurs Søn;

Of the children of Joseph: of Ephraim: Elishama the son of Ammihud; of Manasseh: Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

11 af Benjamin Abidan, Gid'onis Søn;

Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gideoni.

12 af Dan Ahiezer, Ammisjaddajs Søn;

Of Dan: Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

13 af Aser Pag'iel, Okrans Søn;

Of Asher: Pagiel the son of Ochran.

14 af Gad Eljasaf, De'uels Søn,

Of Gad: Eliasaph the son of Deuel.

15 og af Naftali Ahira, Enans Søn.

Of Naphtali: Ahira the son of Enan.”

16 Det var de Mænd, der udtoges af Menigheden, Øversterne for deres Fædrenestammer, Overhovederne for Israels Stammer.

These are those who were called of the congregation, the princes of the tribes of their fathers; they were the heads of the thousands of Israel.

17 Da tog Moses, og Aron disse Mænd, hvis Navne var nævnet,

Moses and Aaron took these men who are mentioned by name.

18 og de kaldte hele Menigheden sammen paa den første Dag i den anden Maaned. Saa lod de sig indføre i Familielisterne efter deres Slægter, efter deres Fædrenehuse, ved Optælling af Navnene fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter, Hoved for Hoved,

They assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they declared their ancestry by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, one by one.

19 som HERREN havde paalagt Moses. Saaledes mønstrede han dem i Sinaj Ørken.

As the LORD commanded Moses, so he counted them in the wilderness of Sinai.

20 Rubens, Israels førstefødtes, Sønner, deres Efterkommere efter deres Slægter, efter deres Fædrenehuse, ved Optælling af Navnene Hoved for Hoved, alle af Mandkøn fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter, alle vaabenføre Mænd,

The children of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

21 de, som mønstredes af Rubens Stamme, udgjorde 46 500.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Reuben, were forty-six thousand and five hundred.

22 Simeons Sønner, deres Efterkommere efter deres Slægter, efter deres Fædrenehuse, saa mange af dem, som mønstredes ved Optælling af Navnene Hoved for Hoved, alle af Mandkøn, fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter, alle vaabenføre Mænd,

Of the children of Simeon, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, those who were counted of it, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

23 de, som mønstredes af Simeons Stamme, udgjorde 59 300.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty-nine thousand and three hundred.

24 Gads Sønner, deres Efterkommere efter deres Slægter, efter deres Fædrenehuse, ved Optælling af Navnene fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter, alle vaabenføre Mænd,

Of the children of Gad, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

25 de, som mønstredes af Gads Stamme, udgjorde 45 650.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Gad, were forty-five thousand and six hundred and fifty.

26 Judas Sønner, deres Efterkommere efter deres Slægter, efter deres Fædrenehuse, ved Optælling af Navnene fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter, alle vaabenføre Mænd,

Of the children of Judah, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

27 de, som mønstredes af Judas Stamme, udgjorde 74 600.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Judah, were seventy-four thousand and six hundred.

28 Issakars Sønner, deres Efterkommere efter deres Slægter, efter deres Fædrenehuse, ved Optælling af Navnene fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter, alle vaabenføre Mænd,

Of the children of Issachar, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty-four thousand and four hundred.

30 Zebulons Sønner, deres Efterkommere efter deres Slægter, efter deres Fædrenehuse, ved Optælling af Navnene fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter, alle vaabenføre Mænd,

Of the children of Zebulun, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty-seven thousand and four hundred.

32 Josefs Sønner: Efraims Sønner, deres Efterkommere efter deres Slægter, efter deres Fædrenehuse, ved Optælling af Navnene fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter, alle vaabenføre Mænd,

Of the children of Joseph: of the children of Ephraim, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

33 de, som mønstredes af Efraims Stamme, udgjorde 40 500;

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred.

34 Manasses Sønner, deres Efterkommere efter deres Slægter, efter deres Fædrenehuse, ved Optælling af Navnene fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter, alle vaabenføre Mænd,

Of the children of Manasseh, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

35 de, som mønstredes af Manasses Stamme, udgjorde 32 200.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty-two thousand and two hundred.

36 Benjamins Sønner, deres Efterkommere efter deres Slægter, efter deres Fædrenehuse, ved Optælling af Navnene fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter, alle vaabenføre Mænd,

Of the children of Benjamin, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

37 de, som mønstredes at Benjamins Stamme, udgjorde 35 400.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty-five thousand and four hundred.

38 Dans Sønner, deres Efterkommere efter deres Slægter, efter deres Fædrenehuse, ved Optælling af Navnene fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter, alle vaabenføre Mænd,

Of the children of Dan, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

39 de, som mønstredes af Dans Stamme, udgjorde 62 700.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Dan, were sixty-two thousand and seven hundred.

40 Asers Sønner, deres Efterkommere efter deres Slægter, efter deres Fædrenehuse, ved Optælling af Navnene fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter, alle vaabenføre Mænd,

Of the children of Asher, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

41 de, som mønstredes af Asers Stamme, udgjorde 41 500.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Asher, were forty-one thousand and five hundred.

42 Naftalis Sønner, deres Efterkommere efter deres Slægter, efter deres Fædrenehuse, ved Optælling af Navnene fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter, alle vaabenføre Mænd,

Of the children of Naphtali, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:

43 de, som mønstredes af Naftalis Stamme, udgjorde 53 400.

those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty-three thousand and four hundred.

44 Det var dem, som mønstredes, dem, Moses og Aron og Israels tolv Øverster, en for hvert Fædrenehus, mønstrede.

These are those who were counted, whom Moses and Aaron counted, and the twelve men who were princes of Israel, each one for his fathers’ house.

45 Og alle, som mønstredes af Israeliterne efter deres Fædrenehuse fra Tyveaarsalderen og opefter, alle vaabenføre Mænd i Israel,

So all those who were counted of the children of Israel by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war in Israel—

46 alle, som mønstredes, udgjorde 603 550.

all those who were counted were six hundred and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

47 Men Leviterne efter deres Fædrenestamme mønstredes ikke sammen med dem.

But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not counted amongst them.

48 HERREN talede til Moses og sagde:

For the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

49 Kun Levis Stamme maa du ikke mønstre, og dens samlede Tal maa du ikke optage sammen med de andre Israeliters.

“Only the tribe of Levi you shall not count, neither shall you take a census of them amongst the children of Israel;

50 Du skal overdrage Leviterne Tilsynet med Vidnesbyrdets Bolig, alle dens Redskaber og alt dens Tilbehør; de skal bære Boligen og alle dens Redskaber, de skal betjene den, og rundt om Boligen skal de have deres Lejr.

but appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle of the Testimony, and over all its furnishings, and over all that belongs to it. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings; and they shall take care of it, and shall encamp around it.

51 Naar Boligen skal bryde op, skal Leviterne tage den ned, og naar Boligen skal gaa i Lejr, skal Leviterne rejse den. Enhver Lægmand, der kommer den nær, skal lide Døden.

When the tabernacle is to move, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it up. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death.

52 Israeliterne skal lejre sig hver i sin Lejrafdeling og under sit Felttegn, Hærafdeling for Hærafdeling,

The children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, according to their divisions.

53 men Leviterne skal lejre sig rundt om Vidnesbyrdets Bolig, for at der ikke skal komme Vrede over Israeliternes Menighed; og Leviterne skal tage Vare paa, hvad der er at varetage ved Vidnesbyrdets Bolig.

But the Levites shall encamp around the Tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel. The Levites shall be responsible for the Tabernacle of the Testimony.”

54 Og Israeliterne gjorde ganske, hvad HERREN havde paalagt Moses.

Thus the children of Israel did. According to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so they did.
