Dommer 13

1 Men Israeliterne blev ved at gøre, hvad der var ondt i HERRENS Øjne, og HERREN gav dem i Filisternes Haand i fyrretyve Aar.

And the children of Israel did again the evil in the eyes of the Lord; and the Lord delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.

2 Der levede i Zor'a en Mand af Daniternes Slægt ved Navn Manoa; hans Hustru var ufrugtbar og havde ingen Børn født.

And there was a certain man of Zor'ah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoach; and his wife was barren, and did not bear.

3 Nu viste HERRENS Engel sig for Kvinden og sagde til hende: »Se, du er ufrugtbar og har ingen Børn født; men du skal blive frugtsommelig og føde en Søn.

And there appeared an angel of the Lord unto the woman, and he said unto her, Behold, thou art barren, and hast not born; but thou wilt conceive, and bear a son.

4 Vogt dig vel for at drikke Vin eller stærk Drik og for at spise noget som helst urent!

And now do beware, and drink neither wine nor strong drink, and eat not any thing unclean.

5 Thi se, du skal blive frugtsommelig og føde en Søn. Der maa ikke komme Ragekniv paa hans Hoved, thi Drengen skal være en Guds Nasiræer fra Moders Liv af; og han skal gøre de første Skridt til at frelse Israel af Filisternes Haand!«

For, lo, thou wilt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head; for a Nazarite of God shall the lad be from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.

6 Kvinden gik nu hen og sagde til sin Mand: »Der kom en Guds Mand til mig, og han saa ud som en Guds Engel; saare frygtindgydende; jeg spurgte ham ikke, hvor han var fra, og sit Navn gav han mig ikke til Kende.

And the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his appearance was like the appearance of an angel of God, very terrible; but I asked him not whence he might be, and his name he did not tell me.

7 Han sagde til mig: Se, du skal blive frugtsommelig og føde en Søn; drik nu ikke Vin eller stærk Drik og spis intet som helst urent, thi Drengen skal være en Guds Nasiræer fra Moders Liv af til sin Dødedag!«

And he said unto me, Behold, thou wilt conceive, and bear a son; and now thou must drink neither wine nor strong drink, and not eat anything unclean; for the child shall be a Nazarite of God from the womb until the day of his death.

8 Da bad Manoa til HERREN og sagde: »Ak, HERRE, lad den Guds Mand, du sendte, atter komme til os for at lære os, hvorledes vi skal bære os ad med den Dreng, der skal fødes!«

And Manoach entreated the Lord, and said, Hear me, O Lord, let the man of God, whom thou didst send, come again unto us, and instruct us what we shall do unto the child that is to be born.

9 Og Gud bønhørte Manoa; og Guds Engel kom atter til Kvinden, medens hun sad ude paa Marken, men Manoa, hendes Mand, var ikke hos hende.

And God hearkened to the voice of Manoach; and the angel of God came again unto the woman, as she was sitting in the field; and Manoach her husband was not with her.

10 Da skyndte Kvinden sig hen til sin Mand, fortalte ham det og sagde til ham: »Se, den Mand, som kom til mig forleden, har vist sig for mig!«

And the woman made haste, and ran, and informed her husband; and she said unto him, Behold, there hath appeared unto me the man, that came unto me the other day.

11 Manoa stod da op og gik med sin Hustru, og da han kom hen til Manden, sagde han til ham: »Er du den Mand, som talte til Kvinden?« Og han sagde: »Ja!«

And Manoach arose, and went after his wife; and he came to the man, and said unto him, Art thou the man that spokest unto the woman? and he said, I am.

12 Saa sagde Manoa: »Naar nu dit Ord gaar i Opfyldelse, hvorledes skal vi da forholde os og bære os ad med Drengen?«

And Manoach said, If now thy words come to pass, what shall be [our] proceeding with the child, and what shall be done unto him?

13 HERRENS Engel svarede Manoa: »Alt det, jeg talte om til Kvinden, skal hun vogte sig for;

And the angel of the Lord said unto Manoach, Of all that I have said unto the woman must she beware.

14 intet af, hvad der vokser paa Vinstokken, maa hun spise; Vin og stærk Drik maa hun ikke drikke, og intet urent maa hun spise; alt, hvad jeg bød hende, skal hun overholde!«

Of any thing that cometh of the grape-vine she may not eat, and wine or strong drink she may not drink, and any thing unclean she may not eat: all that I commanded her must she observe.

15 Da sagde Manoa til HERRENS Engel: »Vi vilde gerne holde dig tilbage og tillave dig et Gedekid!«

And Manoach said unto the angel of the Lord, Let us, I pray thee, detain thee, and we will make a kid ready for thee.

16 Men HERRENS Engel svarede Manoa: »Selv om du holder mig tilbage, spiser jeg ikke af din Mad; men vil du ofre et Brændoffer, saa bring HERREN det!« Thi Manoa vidste ikke, at det var HERRENS Engel.

And the angel of the Lord said unto Manoach, Though thou detain me, I will not eat of thy bread; but if thou wilt offer a burnt-offering, thou must offer it unto the Lord; for Manoach knew not that he was an angel of the Lord.

17 Og Manoa sagde til HERRENS Engel: »Hvad er dit Navn? Naar dit Ord gaar i Opfyldelse, vil vi ære dig!«

And Manoach said unto the angel of the Lord, What is thy name, that, when thy word cometh to pass, we may do thee honor?

18 Men HERRENS Engel svarede: »Hvorfor spørger du om mit Navn? Du skal vide, det er underfuldt.«

And the angel of the Lord said unto him, Why is it that thou wilt ask after my name, seeing it is secret?

19 Da tog Manoa Gedekiddet og Afgrødeofferet og ofrede det paa Klippen til HERREN, ham, som handler underfuldt, og Manoa og hans Hustru saa til.

And Manoach took the kid and the meat-offering, and offered it upon the rock unto the Lord: and he did wondrously; and Manoach and his wife looked on.

20 Og da Flammen slog op imod Himmelen fra Alteret, steg HERRENS Engel op i Alterflammen, medens Manoa og hans Hustru saa til; og de faldt til Jorden paa deres Ansigt.

And it came to pass, when the flame went up from off the altar toward heaven, that the angel of the Lord ascended in the flame of the altar; and Manoach and his wife looked on, and they fell on their faces to the ground.

21 Og HERRENS Engel viste sig ikke mere for Manoa og hans Hustru. Saa forstod Manoa, at det var HERRENS Engel.

And the angel of the Lord was no longer visible to Manoach and to his wife: then knew Manoach that he was an angel of the Lord.

22 Og Manoa sagde til sin Hustru: »Vi er dødsens, thi vi har set Gud!«

And Manoach said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because a divine being have we seen.

23 Men hans Hustru sagde til ham: »Havde HERREN i Sinde at dræbe os, havde han ikke modtaget Brændoffer og Afgrødeoffer af vor Haand; heller ikke havde han ladet os se alt det og nu kundgjort os saadanne Ting!«

But his wife said unto him, If the Lord were pleased to kill us, he would not have received from our hand a burnt-offering and a meat-offering, nor would he have let us see all these things, and at this time he would not have let us hear [such a thing] as this.

24 Og Kvinden fødte en Søn, som hun gav Navnet Samson. Drengen voksede op, og HERREN velsignede ham;

And the woman bore a son, and called his name Samson; and the child grew up, and the Lord blessed him.

25 og HERRENS Aand begyndte at drive paa ham i Dans Lejr mellem Zor'a og Esjtaol.

And the Spirit of the Lord began to move him in Machaneh-dan between Zor'ah and Eshtaol.
