Josua 3
1 Tidligt næste Morgen gjorde Josua sig rede, og hele Israel brød op fra Sjittim sammen med ham og kom til Jordan, og de tilbragte Natten der, før de drog over.
Then Ioshua rose very earely, and they remoued from Shittim, and came to Iorden, he, and all the children of Israel, and lodged there, before they went ouer.
2 Efter tre Dages Forløb gik Tilsynsmændene omkring i Lejren
And after three dayes the officers went throughout the hoste,
3 og bød Folket: »Naar I ser HERREN eders Guds Pagts Ark og Levitpræsterne komme bærende med den, saa skal I bryde op fra eders Plads og følge efter —
And commanded the people, saying, When ye see the Arke of the couenat of the Lord your God, and the Priestes of the Leuites bearing it, ye shall depart from your place, and goe after it.
4 dog skal der være en Afstand af 2000 Alen mellem eder og den; I maa ikke komme den for nær for at I kan vide, hvilken Vej I skal gaa; thi I er ikke kommet den Vej før!«
Yet there shalbe a space betweene you and it, about two thousande cubites by measure: ye shall not come neere vnto it, that ye may knowe the way, by the which ye shall goe: for ye haue not gone this way in times past.
5 Og Josua sagde til Folket: »Helliger eder; thi i Morgen vil HERREN gøre Undere iblandt eder!«
(Nowe Ioshua had saide vnto the people, Sanctifie your selues: for to morowe the Lord will doe wonders among you)
6 Og Josua sagde til Præsterne: »Løft Pagtens Ark op og drag over foran Folket!« Saa løftede de Pagtens Ark op og gik foran Folket.
Also Ioshua spake vnto the Priestes, saying, Take vp the Arke of the couenant, and goe ouer before the people: so they tooke vp the Arke of the couenant, and went before the people.
7 Men HERREN sagde til Josua: »I Dag begynder jeg at gøre dig stor i hele Israels Øjne, for at de kan vide, at jeg vil være med dig, som jeg var med Moses.
Then the Lord saide vnto Ioshua, This day will I begin to magnifie thee in the sight of all Israel, which shall knowe, that as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee.
8 Du skal byde Præsterne, som bærer Pagtens Ark: Naar I kommer til Kanten af Jordans Vand, skal I standse der ved Jordan!«
Thou shalt therefore command the Priests that beare the Arke of the Couenant, saying, When ye are come to the brinke of the waters of Iorden, ye shall stande still in Iorden.
9 Da sagde Josua til Israeliterne: »Kom hid og hør HERREN eders Guds Ord!«
Then Ioshua said vnto the children of Israel, Come hither, and heare the wordes of the Lord your God.
10 Og Josua sagde: »Derpaa skal I kende, at der er en levende Gud iblandt eder, og at han vil drive Kana'anæerne, Hetiterne, Hivviterne, Perizziterne, Girgasjiterne, Amoriterne og Jebusiterne bort foran eder:
And Ioshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the liuing God is among you, and that he will certainely cast out before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hiuites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Iebusites.
11 Se, HERRENS, al Jordens Herres, Ark skal gaa foran eder gennem Jordan.
Beholde, the Arke of the couenant of the Lord of all the worlde passeth before you into Iorden.
12 Vælg eder nu tolv Mænd af Israels Stammer, een Mand af hver Stamme.
Nowe therefore take from among you twelue men out of the tribes of Israel, out of euery tribe a man.
13 Og saa snart Præsterne, som bærer HERRENS, al Jordens Herres, Ark, sætter Foden i Jordans Vand, skal Jordans Vand standse, det Vand, som kommer ovenfra, og staa som en Vold.«
And assoone as the soles of the feete of the Priestes (that beare the Arke of the Lord God the Lord of all the worlde) shall stay in the waters of Iorden, the waters of Iorden shall be cut off: for the waters that come from aboue, shall stande still vpon an heape.
14 Da Folket saa brød op fra deres Telte for at gaa over Jordan med Præsterne, som bar Arken, i Spidsen,
Then when the people were departed from their tentes to goe ouer Iorden, the Priestes bearing the Arke of the Couenant, went before people.
15 og da de, som bar Arken, kom til Jordan, og Præsterne, som bar Arken, rørte ved Vandkanten med deres Fødder — Jordan gik overalt over sine Bredder i hele Høsttiden —
And as they that bare the Arke came vnto Iorden, and the feete of the Priestes that bare the Arke were dipped in the brinke of the water, (for Iorden vseth to fill all his bankes all the time of haruest)
16 standsede Vandet, som kom ovenfra, og stod som en Vold langt borte, oppe ved Byen Adam, som ligger ved Zaretan, medens det Vand, som flød ned mod Araba— eller Salthavet, løb helt bort; saaledes gik Folket over lige over for Jeriko.
Then the waters that came downe from aboue, stayed and rose vpon an heape and departed farre from the citie of Adam, that was beside Zaretan: but the waters that came downe towarde the Sea of the wildernes, euen the salt Sea, failed, and were cut off: so the people went right ouer against Iericho.
17 Men Præsterne, som bar HERRENS Pagts Ark, blev staaende paa tør Bund midt i Jordan, medens hele Israel gik over paa tør Bund, indtil hele Folket havde tilendebragt Overgangen over Jordan.
But the Priestes that bare the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, stoode drie within Iorden readie prepared, and all the Israelites went ouer dry, vntill all the people were gone cleane ouer through Iorden.
