Josua 11

1 Da Kong Jabin af Hazor hørte herom sendte han Bud til Kong Jobab af Madon og Kongerne af Sjimron og Aksjaf

And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor heard, that he sent unto Jobab king of Madon, and unto the king of Shimron, and unto the king of Achshaph;

2 og til Kongerne nordpaa i Bjergene, i Arabalavningen sønden for Kinnerot, i Lavlandet og paa Højdedraget vestpaa ved Dor,

and unto the kings who were on the north in the hill country and in the waste plain south of Chinneroth, and in the lowland, —and in the heights of Dor, on the west:

3 til Kana'anæerne i Øst og Vest, Amoriterne, Hivviterne, Perizziterne og Jebusiterne i Bjergene og Hetiterne ved Foden af Hermon i Mizpas Land;

the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite and the Jebusite, in the hill country, —and the Hivite, under Hermon, in the land of Mizpah;

4 og de drog ud med alle deres Hære, Krigsfolk talrige som Sandet ved Havets Bred, og med en stor Mængde Heste og Stridsvogne.

and they came out—they, and all their hosts with them, much people, like the sand that is upon the seashore for multitude, —with horses and chariots very many.

5 Alle disse Konger slog sig sammen og kom og lejrede sig i Forening ved Meroms Vand for at angribe Israel.

And, when all these kings were gathered together, they came in, and encamped as one man, at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.

6 Men HERREN sagde til Josua: »Frygt ikke for dem! Thi i Morgen ved denne Tid vil jeg lade dem ligge faldne foran Israel; deres Heste skal du lamme, og deres Vogne skal du brænde!«

Then said Yahweh unto Joshua—Do not fear because of them, for, to-morrow, about this time, am I going to deliver up all of them, slain, before Israel, —their horses, shalt thou ham-string, and, their chariots, shalt thou burn up with fire.

7 Da kom Josua med hele Hæren uventet over dem ved Meroms Vand og kastede sig over dem,

So Joshua, and all the army with him, came in upon them, by the waters of Merom, suddenly, and fell upon them.

8 og HERREN gav dem i Israels Haand, saa de slog dem og forfulgte dem til den store Stad Zidon, til Misrefot-Majim og Mizpes Lavning i Øst, og huggede dem ned, saa ikke en eneste af dem blev tilbage.

And Yahweh delivered them up into the hand of Israel, and they smote them, and chased them as far as great Zidon, and as far as Misrephoth-maim, and as far as the valley of Mizpeh, eastward, —yea they smote them until they left them not a survivor.

9 Josua gjorde derpaa med dem, som HERREN havde sagt ham; deres Heste lammede han, og deres Vogne brændte han.

And Joshua did unto them, as Yahweh had said unto him, —their horses, he ham-strung, and, their chariots, burned he up with fire.

10 Ved den Tid vendte Josua om og indtog Hazor, og Kongen huggede han ned med Sværdet; Hazor var nemlig fordum alle disse Kongerigers Hovedstad;

Then Joshua turned back, at that time, and captured Hazor, and, the king thereof, smote he with the sword, —for, Hazor, aforetime, was the head of all these kingdoms.

11 og de huggede hver levende Sjæl i den ned med Sværdet og lagde Band paa dem, saa ikke en levende Sjæl blev tilbage; og Hazor stak han i Brand.

And they smote all the souls that were therein, with the edge of the sword, devoting them to destruction, there was left no breathing thing, —and, Hazor, burned he up with fire.

12 Alle hine Kongsbyer med deres Konger undertvang Josua, og han huggede dem ned med Sværdet og lagde Band paa dem, som HERRENS Tjener Moses havde paabudt.

And, all the cities of these kings, and all the kings thereof, did Joshua capture, and he smote them with the edge of the sword, devoting them to destruction, —as Moses, the servant of Yahweh, commanded.

13 Men ingen af de Byer, som laa paa deres Høje, stak Israel i Brand, alene med Undtagelse af Hazor; den stak Josua i Brand.

Yet, none of the cities that were still standing upon their mound, did Israel burn, none but Hazor alone, did Joshua burn.

14 Kvæget og alt det andet, der røvedes fra disse Byer, beholdt Israeliterne som Bytte; men alle Menneskene huggede de ned med Sværdet til sidste Mand uden at lade en eneste levende Sjæl blive tilbage.

But, all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, did the sons of Israel take as their prey, —nevertheless, all the human beings, smote they with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, they left remaining no breathing thing.

15 Hvad HERREN havde paalagt sin Tjener Moses, havde Moses paalagt Josua, og det gjorde Josua; han undlod intet som helst af, hvad HERREN havde paalagt Moses.

As Yahweh commanded Moses his servant, so, Moses commanded Joshua, and, so, Joshua, did, he set aside nothing of all that Yahweh commanded Moses.

16 Saaledes indtog Josua hele dette Land, Bjerglandet, hele Sydlandet, hele Landskabet Gosjen, Lavlandet, Arabalavningen, Israels Bjergland og Lavland,

So Joshua took all this land—the hill country, and all the south, and all the land of Goshen, and the lowland, and the waste plain, —and the hill country of Israel, and the lowland thereof:

17 fra det nøgne Bjergdrag, som højner sig hen imod Se'ir, indtil Ba'al-Gad i Libanons Dal ved Hermonbjergets Fod; og alle deres Konger tog han til Fange, huggede dem ned og dræbte dem.

from Mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even as far as Baal-gad, in the valley of the Lebanon, under Mount Hermon, —and, all their kings, he captured, and smote them, and put them to death.

18 I lang Tid førte Josua Krig med disse Konger.

Many days, did Joshua, with all these kings, make war.

19 Der var ingen By, som sluttede Overenskomst med Israeliterne, undtagen Hivviterne, som boede i Gibeon. Alt tog de i Kamp;

There was not a city that made peace with the sons of Israel, save the Hivites dwelling in Gibeon, —the whole, took they in battle.

20 thi HERREN voldte, at de forhærdede deres Hjerter, saa de drog i Kamp mod Israel, for at de skulde lægge Band paa dem uden Skaansel og udrydde dem, som HERREN havde paalagt Moses.

For, from Yahweh, came it to pass, that their heart was emboldened to come out to war with Israel, that he might devote them to destruction, that they might find no favour, —but that he might destroy them, —as Yahweh commanded Moses.

21 Ved den Tid drog Josua hen og udryddede Anakiterne af Bjerglandet, af Hebron, Debir og Anab, og af hele Judas og hele Israels Bjergland; paa dem og deres Byer lagde Josua Band.

And Joshua came in, at that time, and cut off the Anakim from the hill country—from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel, —with their cities, did Joshua devote them to destruction.

22 Der blev ingen Anakiter tilbage i Israeliternes Land, kun i Gaza, Gat og Asdod blev der Levninger tilbage.

There was left remaining none of the Anakim, in the land of the sons of Israel, —save only, in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, did some remain.

23 Saaledes indtog Josua hele Landet, ganske som HERREN havde sagt til Moses, og Josua gav Israel det i Eje efter deres Afdelinger, Stamme for Stamme. Og Landet fik Ro efter Krigen.

So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that Yahweh had spoken unto Moses, and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel, according to their portions by their tribes, —and, the land, had rest from war.
