Esajas 20

1 I det Aar Tartan kom til Asdod, dengang Assyrerkongen Sargon sendte ham og han angreb Asdod og indtog det,

In the year that Tartan came to Ashdod, when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him, (and he fought against Ashdod and took it, )

2 paa den Tid talede HERREN ved Esajas, Amoz's Søn, saaledes: »Gaa hen og løs Sørgeklædet af dine Lænder og drag Skoene af dine Fødder!« Og han gjorde saaledes og gik nøgen og barfodet.

at that time spoke Jehovah by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy sandal from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

3 Saa sagde HERREN: »Som min Tjener Esajas i trende Aar har vandret nøgen og barfodet som Tegn og Varsel mod Ægypten og Ætiopien,

And Jehovah said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years, a sign and a wonder concerning Egypt and concerning Ethiopia,

4 saaledes skal Assyrerkongen slæbe fangne Ægyptere og bortførte Ætiopere med sig, unge og gamle, nøgne og barfodede, med blottet Bag til Skændsel for Ægypten.«

so shall the king of Assyria lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Ethiopia, young and old, naked and barefoot, and with buttocks uncovered, [to] the shame of Egypt.

5 Da skal de forfærdes og blues over Ætiopien, som de saa hen til, og over Ægypten, som var deres Stolthed.

And they shall be terrified and ashamed of Ethiopia their confidence, and of Egypt their boast.

6 Og de, som bor paa denne Strand, skal paa hin Dag sige: »Se, saaledes gik det med den, vi saa hen til, til hvem vi tyede om Hjælp for at frelses fra Assyrerkongen; hvor skal da vi kunne undslippe!«

And the inhabitants of this coast shall say in that day, Behold, such is our confidence, whither we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria; and how shall we escape?
