1 Mosebog 14

1 Dengang Amrafel var Konge i Sinear, Arjok i Ellasar, Kedorlaomer i Elam og Tid'al i Gojim,

And it came to pass, in the days of Amraphel, king of Shinar, Arioch, king of Ellasar, —Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goim,

2 laa de i Krig med Kong Bera af Sodoma, Kong Birsja af Gomorra, Kong Sjin'ab af Adma, Kong Sjem'eber af Zebojim og Kongen i Bela, det et Zoar.

that they made war, with Bera, king of Sodom, and with Birsha, king of Gomorrah, —Shinab, king of Admah, and Shemeber, king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela—the same, is Zoar.

3 Alle disse havde slaaet sig sammen og var rykket frem til Siddims Dal, det er Salthavet.

All these, joined together in the valley of the open fields, the same, is the Salt Sea.

4 I tolv Aar havde de staaet under Kedorlaomer, men i det trettende faldt de fra;

Twelve years, had they served Chedorlaomer, —but in the thirteenth year had they rebelled;

5 og i det fjortende Aar kom Kedorlaomer og de Konger, som fulgte ham. Først slog de Refaiterne i Asjtarot-Karnajim, Zuziterne i Ham, Emiterne i Sjave-Kirjatajim

and in the fourteenth year, had Chedorlaomer come in and the kings who were with him, so they smote the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, and the Zuzim in Ham, —and the Emim, in Shaveh-kiriathaim;

6 og Horiterne i Se'irs Bjerge hen ad El-Paran til ved Ørkenens Rand;

and the Horites in their Mount Seir, —as far as El-paran, which is by the desert.

7 saa vendte de om og drog til Misjpatkilden, det er Kadesj, og slog Amalekiterne i hele deres Omraade og ligesaa de Amoriter, der boede i Hazazon-Tamar.

So they returned and came in unto En-mishpat, the same, is Kadish, and smote all the field of the Amalekites, —and the Amorites also that dwelt in Hazazon-tamar,

8 Da drog Sodomas, Gomorras, Admas, Zebojims og Belas, det er Zoars, Konger ud og indlod sig i Siddims Dal i Kamp

Thus then went forth the King of Sodom and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah and the king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela the same, is Zoar—and set themselves in array against them for battle, in the valley of the open fields:

9 med Kong Kedorlaomer af Elam, Kong Tid'al af Gojim, Kong Amrafel af Sinear og Kong Arjok af Ellasar, fire Konger mod fem.

against Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goim, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar, —four kings against five.

10 Men Siddims Dal var fuld af Jordbeggruber; og da Sodomas og Gomorras Konger blev slaaet paa Flugt, styrtede de i dem, medens de, der blev tilbage, flyede op i Bjergene.

Now, the valley of the open fields, had many pits of bitumen, so the king of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there, —while, they who remained, towards a mountain, fled.

11 Saa tog Fjenden alt Godset i Sodoma og Gomorra og alle Levnedsmidlerne og drog bort;

And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food and went their way.

12 ligeledes tog de, da de drog bort, Abrams Brodersøn Lot og alt hans Gods med sig; thi han boede i Sodoma.

And they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son with his goods, and went their way, —he, being a dweller in Sodom.

13 Men en Flygtning kom og meldte det til Hebræeren Abram, der boede ved den Lund, som tilhørte Amoriten Mamre, en Broder til Esjkol og Aner, der ligesom han var Abrams Pagtsfæller.

Then came in a fugitive, and told Abram the Hebrew, —he, having his dwelling among the oaks of Mamre the Amorite brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner, they, also having a covenant with Abram.

14 Da nu Abram hørte, at hans Frænde var taget til Fange, mønstrede han sine Husfolk, de hjemmefødte Trælle, 318 Mand, og satte efter Fjenden til Dan;

So Abram, hearing that his brother had been taken captive, drew forth his trained men born in his house three hundred and eighteen, and pursued as far as Dan.

15 der faldt han og hans Trælle over dem om Natten, slog dem paa Flugt og forfulgte dem op til Hoba norden for Damaskus.

And he divided himself against them by night, he, and his servants, and smote them, —and pursued them as far as Hobah, which was on the left of Damascus.

16 Derefter bragte han alt Godset tilbage; ogsaa sin Frænde Lot og hans Gods førte han tilbage og ligeledes Kvinderne og Folket.

So he brought back all the goods, —yea Lot also his brother with his goods, did he bring back, and the women also, and the people.

17 Da han nu kom tilbage fra Sejren over Kedorlaomer og de Konger, der fulgte ham, gik Sodomas Konge ham i Møde i Sjavedalen, det er Kongedalen.

Then came forth the king of Sodom to meet him, after his return from the smiting of Chedorlaomer, and the kings who were with him, —into the vale of Shaveh the same, was the vale of the king.

18 Men Salems Konge Melkizedek, Gud den Allerhøjestes Præst, bragte Brød og Vin

Now Melchizedek king of Salem, had brought forth bread and wine, —he, being priest of GOD Most High.

19 og velsignede ham med de Ord: »Priset være Abram for Gud den Allerhøjeste, Himmelens og Jordens Skaber,

So he blessed him and said, —Blessed be Abram of GOD Most High, possessor of [the] heavens and earth;

20 og priset være Gud den Allerhøjeste, der gav dine Fjender i din Haand!« Og Abram gav ham Tiende af alt.

And blessed be GOD Most High, who hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. So he gave unto him a tenth of all.

21 Sodomas Konge sagde derpaa til Abram: »Giv mig Menneskene og behold selv Godset!«

Then said the king of Sodom unto Abram, —Give unto me the persons, but the goods, take thou for thyself.

22 Men Abram svarede Sodomas Konge: »Til HERREN, Gud den Allerhøjeste, Himmelens og Jordens Skaber, løfter jeg min Haand paa,

And Abram said unto the king of Sodom, —I have lifted up my hand unto Yahweh GOD Most High, possessor of [the] heavens and earth:

23 at jeg ikke vil tage saa meget som en Traad eller en Sandalrem eller overhovedet noget som helst af din Ejendom; du skal ikke sige, at du har gjort Abram rig!

That not from a thread even unto a sandal-thong, —will I take, anything, that is thine, —Lest thou shouldst say, I, enriched Abram!

24 Jeg vil intet have — kun hvad de unge Mænd har fortæret, og mine Ledsagere, Aner, Esjkol og Mamres Del, lad dem faa deres Del!«

Save only what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre, they may take their share.
