5 Mosebog 29
1 Det er den Pagts Ord, som HERREN bød Moses at slutte med Israeliterne i Moabs Land foruden den Pagt, han havde sluttet med dem ved Horeb.
These are the words of the agreement which Moses was ordered by the Lord to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, in addition to the agreement which he made with them in Horeb.
2 Og Moses kaldte hele Israel sammen og sagde til dem: I har set alt, hvad HERREN i Ægypten for eders Øjne gjorde ved Farao og alle hans Tjenere og hele hans Land,
And Moses said in the hearing of all Israel, You have seen all the Lord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh and to all his servants and all his land;
3 de store Prøvelser, I saa med egne Øjne, disse store Tegn og Undere.
The great tests which your eyes saw, and the signs and wonders:
4 Men hidindtil har HERREN ikke givet eder Hjerte til at forstaa med eller Øjne til at se med eller Ører til at høre med.
But even to this day the Lord has not given you a mind open to knowledge, or seeing eyes or hearing ears.
5 I fyrretyve Aar har jeg ført eder om i Ørkenen; eders Klæder blev ikke slidt af Kroppen paa eder, og dine Sko blev ikke slidt af Fødderne paa dig;
For forty years I have been your guide through the waste land: your clothing has not become old on your backs, or your shoes on your feet.
6 Brød fik I ikke at spise, og Vin og stærk Drik fik I ikke at drikke, for at I skulde kende, at jeg er HERREN eders Gud.
You have had no bread, or wine, or strong drink: so that you might see that I am the Lord your God.
7 Og da I kom til Stedet her, drog Kong Sihon af Hesjbon og Kong Og af Basan ud til Kamp imod os, men vi slog dem
When you came to this place, Sihon, king of Heshbon, and Og, king of Bashan, came out to make war against us and we overcame them:
8 og erobrede deres Land og gav Rubeniterne og Gaditerne og Manasses halve Stamme det til Arvelod.
And we took their land and gave it to the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh, for their heritage.
9 Tag derfor Vare paa denne Pagts Ord og gør efter dem, for at I kan faa Lykke til al eders Gerning.
So keep the words of this agreement and do them, so that it may be well for you in everything you do.
10 I staar i Dag alle for HERREN eders Guds Aasyn, eders Stammeoverhoveder, Dommere, Ældste og Tilsynsmænd, hver Mand i Israel,
You have come here today, all of you, before the Lord your God; the heads of your tribes, the overseers, and those who are in authority over you, with all the men of Israel,
11 eders Smaabørn og Hustruer og de fremmede, der opholder sig i din Lejr, baade dine Brændehuggere og Vandbærere,
And your little ones, your wives, and the men of other lands who are with you in your tents, down to the wood-cutter and the servant who gets water for you:
12 for at indtræde i HERREN din Guds Pagt og det Edsforbund, HERREN din Gud i Dag slutter med dig,
With the purpose of taking part in the agreement of the Lord your God, and his oath which he makes with you today:
13 for at han i Dag kan gøre dig til sit Folk, saa han bliver din Gud, som han lovede dig og tilsvor dine Fædre, Abraham, Isak og Jakob.
And so that he may make you his people today, and be your God, as he has said to you, and as he made an oath to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
14 Og ikke med eder alene slutter jeg denne Pagt og dette Edsforbund,
And not with you only do I make this agreement and this oath;
15 men baade med dem, der i Dag staar her hos os for HERREN vor Guds Aasyn, og med dem, der i Dag ikke er til Stede hos os her.
But with everyone who is here with us today before the Lord our God, as well as with those who are not here:
16 Thi I ved jo selv, at vi boede i Ægypten, og at vi drog igennem de forskellige Folkeslags Lande,
(For you have in mind how we were living in the land of Egypt; and how we came through all the nations which were on your way;
17 og I saa deres væmmelige Guder og de Afgudsbilleder af Træ og Sten, af Sølv og Guld, som de har.
And you have seen their disgusting doings, and the images of wood and stone and silver and gold which were among them: )
18 Saa lad der da ikke iblandt eder findes nogen Mand eller Kvinde, Slægt eller Stamme, hvis Hjerte i Dag vender sig bort fra HERREN vor Gud, saa de gaar hen og dyrker disse Folks Guder; lad der ikke iblandt eder findes nogen Rod, hvoraf Gift og Malurt vokser op,
So that there may not be among you any man or woman or family or tribe whose heart is turned away from the Lord our God today, to go after other gods and give them worship; or any root among you whose fruit is poison and bitter sorrow;
19 saa at han, naar han hører dette Edsforbunds Ord, i sit Hjerte lover sig selv alt godt og tænker: »Det skal nok gaa mig vel, selv om jeg vandrer med genstridigt Hjerte!« Thi saa vil han ødelægge baade frodigt og tørt.
If such a man, hearing the words of this oath, takes comfort in the thought that he will have peace even if he goes on in the pride of his heart, taking whatever chance may give him:
20 HERREN vil ikke tilgive den Mand, nej, hans Vrede og Nidkærhed skal blusse op mod saadan en Mand, og al den Forbandelse, der er optegnet i denne Bog, vil lægge sig paa ham, og HERREN vil udslette hans Navn under Himmelen!
The Lord will have no mercy on him, but the wrath of the Lord will be burning against that man, and all the curses recorded in this book will be waiting for him, and the Lord will take away his name completely from the earth.
21 HERREN vil udskille ham af alle Israels Stammer og bringe Ulykke over ham i Overensstemmelse med alle de Pagtens Forbandelser, som er skrevet i denne Lovbog.
He will be marked out by the Lord, from all the tribes of Israel, for an evil fate, in keeping with all the curses of the agreement recorded in this book of the law.
22 Og naar den kommende Slægt, eders Børn, der kommer efter eder, og de fremmede, der kommer langvejsfra, ser de Plager, der har ramt dette Land, og de Sygdomme, HERREN har hjemsøgt det med,
And future generations, your children coming after you, and travellers from far countries, will say, when they see the punishments of that land and the diseases which the Lord has sent on it;
23 Svovl og Salt, hele Landet afsvedet, saa det ikke kan tilsaaes og ingen Afgrøde give, og ingen Urter kan gro deri, som dengang Sodoma og Gomorra, Adma og Zebojim blev ødelagt, da HERREN lod dem gaa under i sin Vrede og Harme, da skal de spørge,
And that all the land is a salt and smoking waste, not planted or giving fruit or clothed with grass, but wasted like Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, on which the Lord sent destruction in the heat of his wrath:
24 og alle Folkeslag skal spørge: »Hvorfor har HERREN handlet saaledes med dette Land? Hvorledes hænger det sammen med denne vældige Vredesglød?«
Truly all the nations will say, Why has the Lord done so to this land? what is the reason for this great and burning wrath?
25 Saa skal man svare: »Det er, fordi de sveg den Pagt, HERREN, deres Fædres Gud, havde sluttet med dem, da han førte dem ud af Ægypten,
Then men will say, Because they gave up the agreement of the Lord, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he took them out of the land of Egypt:
26 og gik hen og dyrkede fremmede Guder og tilbad dem, Guder, som de ikke før havde kendt til, og som han ikke havde tildelt dem;
And they went after other gods and gave them worship, gods who were strange to them, and whom he had not given them:
27 derfor blussede HERRENS Vrede op imod dette Land, saa han lod al den Forbandelse, som er optegnet i denne Bog, komme over det,
And so the wrath of the Lord was moved against this land, to send on it all the curse recorded in this book:
28 og derfor oprykkede han dem fra deres Land i Vrede og Harme og heftig Forbitrelse og slængte dem ud i et fremmed Land, som det nu er sket.«
Rooting them out of their land, in the heat of his wrath and passion, and driving them out into another land, as at this day.
29 De skjulte Ting er for HERREN vor Gud, men de aabenbare er for os og vore Børn evindelig, at vi maa lære at handle efter alle denne Lovs Ord!
The secret things are the Lord our God's: but the things which have been made clear are ours and our children's for ever, so that we may do all the words of this law.
