5 Mosebog 2
1 Saa vendte vi om og brød op til Ørkenen i Retning af det røde Hav, saaledes som HERREN havde paalagt mig, og i lang Tid vandrede vi rundt om Se'irs Bjerge.
Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea, as the Lord had spoken unto me: and we traveled around mount Seir many days.
2 Da sagde HERREN til mig:
And the Lord said unto me, as followeth,
3 »Nu har I længe nok vandret rundt om Bjergene her; vend eder nu mod Nord!
Ye have traveled long enough around this mountain; turn yourselves northward.
4 Men byd Folket og sig: Naar I nu drager igennem eders Brødres, Esaus Sønners, Landemærker, de, som bor i Se'ir, og de bliver bange for eder, saa skal I tage eder vel i Vare
And the people command thou, saying, Ye are passing by the border of your brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you; therefore take ye good heed unto yourselves;
5 for at indlade eder i Krig med dem; thi jeg vil ikke give eder saa meget som en Fodsbred af deres Land; thi Esau har jeg givet Se'irs Bjerge i Arv og Eje.
Do not contend with them; for I will not give unto you of their land, even so much as a foot's breadth; because unto Esau have I given mount Seir for an inheritance.
6 Fødevarer at spise skal I købe af dem for Penge, ogsaa Vand at drikke skal I købe af dem for Penge;
Food shall ye buy of them for money, that ye may eat; and water also shall ye buy of them for money, that ye may drink.
7 thi HERREN din Gud har velsignet dig i alt, hvad du har taget dig for, han har sørget for dig paa din Vandring gennem denne store Ørken; i fyrretyve Aar har HERREN din Gud nu været med dig, du har ikke manglet noget.«
For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand; he hath provided for thy wandering through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
8 Derpaa drog vi fra Elat og Ezjongeber ad Arabavejen gennem vore Brødres, Esaus Sønners Land, de, som bor i Se'ir; saa drejede vi af og drog videre ad Vejen til Moabs Ørken.
And we passed away from our brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from the way through the plain, from Elath, and from 'Ezyon-gaber. And we turned and passed the way of the wilderness of Moab.
9 Og HERREN sagde til mig: »Du maa ikke angribe Moab eller indlade dig i Krig med dem, thi jeg vil ikke give dig noget af deres Land i Eje; thi Lots Sønner har jeg givet Ar i Eje.
And the Lord said unto me, Do not attack the Moabites, nor contend with them in battle; for I will not give thee from their land any inheritance, because unto the children of Lot have I given 'Ar for an inheritance.
10 (Fordum beboedes det af Emiterne, et stort og talrigt Folk, kæmpestore som Anakiterne;
The Emim in times past dwelt therein, a people great, and numerous, and tall as the 'Anakim;
11 ogsaa de henregnes ligesom Anakiterne til Refaiterne, men Moabiterne kalder dem Emiter.
As Rephaim were also they accounted, equally with the 'Anakim; and the Moabites called the[[m]] Emim.
12 I Se'ir boede derimod fordum Horiterne, som Esaus Sønner drev bort og udryddede foran sig, hvorefter de bosatte sig der i deres Sted, ligesom Israel gjorde ved sit Ejendomsland, som HERREN gav dem.)
And in Seir dwelt the Chorim in times past; but the children of Esau drove them out, and they destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel hath done unto the land of his inheritance, which the Lord hath given unto them.
13 Bryd nu op og gaa over Zeredbækken!« Saa gik vi over Zeredbækken.
Now rise up, and get you over the brook Zered; and we passed over the brook Zered.
14 Der var gaaet otte og tredive Aar fra vort Opbrud fra Kadesj-Barnea, til vi gik over Zeredbækken, til hele din Slægt af vaabenføre Mænd var uddød af Lejren, saaledes som HERREN havde svoret dem;
And the time which we came from Kadesh-barnea', until we had passed over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were spent from out the midst of the camp, as the Lord had sworn unto them.
15 ogsaa HERRENS Haand havde været imod dem, saa de blev udryddet af Lejren til sidste Mand.
And also the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from the midst of the camp; until they were spent.
16 Men da alle vaabenføre Mænd var uddøde af Folket,
So it came to pass, when all the men of war were spent by, dying from the midst of the people,
17 talede HERREN til mig og sagde:
That the Lord spoke unto me, saying,
18 Naar du nu drager gennem Moabs Landemærker, gennem Ar,
Thou art passing this day by the border of Moab, by 'Ar,
19 og saaledes naar hen til Ammoniterne, saa maa du ikke angribe dem eller indlade dig i Krig med dem, thi jeg vil ikke give dig noget af Ammoniternes Land i Eje; thi det har jeg givet Lots Børn i Eje.
And thou comest nigh opposite the children of 'Ammon: do not attack them, nor contend with them; for I will not give unto thee of the land of the children of 'Ammon any inheritance; because unto the children of Lot have I given it for an inheritance.
20 (Ogsaa det henregnes til Refaiternes Land; det beboedes fordum af Refaiter, men Ammoniterne kalder dem Zamzummiter.
As the land of Rephaim was it also accounted: Rephaim dwelt therein in times past; and the 'Ammonites called them Zamzummim;
21 Det var et stort og talrigt Folk, kæmpestore som Anakiterne. Men HERREN udryddede dem foran dem, saa de drev dem bort og bosatte sig der i deres Sted,
A people great, and numerous, and tall, as the 'Anakim; but the Lord destroyed them before them; and they drove them out, and dwelt in their stead:
22 ligesom han gjorde for Esaus Sønner, der bor i Se'ir, for hvem han udryddede Horiterne, saa de drev dem bort og bosatte sig der i deres Sted, og de bor der den Dag i Dag.
As he hath done to the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from before whom he destroyed the Chorim; and they drove them out and dwelt in their stead, even unto this day.
23 Men Avvijiterne, der boede i Landsbyer i Egnene henimod Gaza, dem drev Kaftorerne, der var udvandret fra Kaftor, bort og bosatte sig der i deres Sted).
And the 'Avvim, who dwelt in open towns, as far as unto Gazzah, —the Caphtorim, who came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.
24 Bryd nu op og gaa over Arnonfloden! Se, jeg har givet Hesjbons Konge, Amoriten Sihon, og hans Land i din Haand; giv dig kun til at drive ham bort og føre Krig med ham!
Rise ye up, set forward, and pass over the brook Arnon; behold I have given into thy hand Sichon the king of Cheshbon, the Emorite, and his land: begin to drive him out, and contend with him in battle.
25 Fra i Dag af begynder jeg at vække Frygt og Rædsel for dig hos alle Folkeslag under Himmelen; blot de hører om dig, skal de ryste og bæve for dig!
This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven; whoever will hear the report of thee, shall tremble, and shall quake because of thee.
26 Da udsendte jeg Sendebud fra Kedemots Ørken til Kong Sihon af Hesjbon med følgende fredelige Tilbud:
And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sichon, the king of Cheshbon, with words of peace, saying,
27 »Lad mig drage gennem dit Land; jeg skal holde mig til Vejen uden at bøje af til højre eller venstre.
Let me pass through thy land: always by the highway will I go along; I will not turn unto the right hand or unto the left.
28 Fødevarer at spise skal du sælge mig for Penge, og Vand at drikke skal du give mig for Penge, jeg beder kun om at maatte drage igennem til Fods,
Food shalt thou sell me for money, that I may eat; and water for money shalt thou give me, that I may drink: only let me pass through on foot;
29 saaledes som Esaus Sønner, der bor i Se'ir, og Moabiterne, der bor i Ar, tillod mig, indtil jeg kommer over Jordan ind i det Land, HERREN vor Gud vil give os!«
(As the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in 'Ar, have done unto me: ) until that I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which the Lord our God giveth us.
30 Men Kong Sihon i Hesjbon vilde ikke tillade os at drage igennem; thi HERREN din Gud forhærdede hans Aand og gjorde hans Hjerte haardt for at give ham i din Haand, som det nu er sket.
But Sichon, the king of Cheshbon, would not suffer our passing by him; for the Lord thy God had hardened his spirit, and had made obstinate his heart, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as [hath happened] this day.
31 Derpaa sagde HERREN til mig: »Se, jeg har allerede begyndt at give Sihon og hans Land i din Magt; giv dig kun til at drive ham bort for at tage hans Land i Besiddelse!«
And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give up Sichon and his land before thee: begin to drive him out, that thou mayest inherit his land.
32 Saa rykkede Sihon med alle sine Krigere ud imod os til Kamp ved Jaza;
And Sichon came out against us, he and all his people, to the battle at Yahaz.
33 og HERREN vor Gud gav ham i vor Magt, og vi slog ham og hans Sønner og alle hans Krigere.
And the Lord our God gave him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
34 Og vi indtog dengang alle hans Byer og lagde i enhver By Band paa Mænd, Kvinder og Børn uden at lade en eneste undslippe;
And we conquered all his cities at that time, and devoted every inhabited city, and the women, and the little ones; we left none that escaped.
35 kun Kvæget tog vi selv som Bytte, tillige med hvad vi røvede i de erobrede Byer.
Only the cattle we took as booty unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we had captured.
36 Fra Aroer ved Arnonflodens Bred og Byen, der ligger i Dalen, og til Gilead var der ikke en By, som var os uindtagelig; HERREN vor Gud gav dem alle i vor Magt.
From 'Aro'er, which is by the bank of the brook of Arnon, and the city that is in the brook, even unto Gil'ad, there was not one city which was too strong for us; the whole did the Lord our God give up before us.
37 Men paa Ammoniternes Land forgreb du dig ikke, hverken det, der ligger langs Jabbokfloden, eller Byerne i Bjergene, saaledes som HERREN vor Gud havde paabudt.
Only unto the land of the children of 'Ammon didst thou not come nigh, unto the whole margin of the brook Yabbok, and the cities in the mountain, and unto whatsoever the Lord our God had forbidden us.
