1 HERREN eders Guds Børn er I, derfor maa I ikke indridse Mærker paa eder eller afrage Haaret over Panden for de dødes Skyld.
Ye are sons of Jehovah your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for a dead person.
2 Thi du er et Folk, der er helliget HERREN din Gud, og dig har HERREN udvalgt til at være hans Ejendomsfolk blandt alle Folk paa Jorden.
For thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God, and thee hath Jehovah chosen for a people of possession unto himself, out of all the peoples that are upon the face of the earth.
3 Du maa ikke spise noget, som er en Vederstyggelighed.
Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.
4 De Dyr, I maa spise, er følgende: Okser, Faar og Geder,
These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat;
5 Hjorte, Gazeller, Antiloper, Stenbukke, Disjonantiloper, Oryksantiloper og Vildgeder.
the hart, and the gazelle, and the stag, and the wild goat, and the dishon and the oryx, and the wild sheep.
6 Og alt det Kvæg, som har spaltede Klove, begge Klove helt spaltede, og tygger Drøv, det Kvæg maa I spise.
And every beast that hath cloven hoofs, and the feet quite split open into double hoofs, [and] which cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that ye shall eat.
7 Men følgende maa I ikke spise af dem, der tygger Drøv, og af dem, der har Klovene helt spaltede: Kamelen, Haren og Klippegrævlingen, thi de tygger vel Drøv, men har ikke Klove; de skal være eder urene;
Only these ye shall not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those with hoofs cloven and split open: the camel, and the hare, and the rock-badger; for they chew the cud, but have not cloven hoofs — they shall be unclean unto you;
8 ej heller Svinet, thi det har vel Klove, men tygger ikke Drøv; det skal være eder urent. Deres Kød maa I ikke spise, og ved deres Aadsler maa I ikke røre.
and the swine, for it hath cloven hoofs, yet cheweth not the cud — it shall be unclean unto you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch.
9 Af alt, hvad der lever i Vandet, maa I spise følgende: Alt, hvad der har Finner og Skæl, maa I spise.
These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales shall ye eat;
10 Men intet, der ikke har Finner og Skæl, maa I spise; det skal være eder urent.
but whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye shall not eat: it shall be unclean unto you.
11 Alle rene Fugle maa I spise.
All clean birds shall ye eat.
12 Men følgende Fugle maa I ikke spise: Ørnen, Lammegribben, Havørnen,
But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the sea-eagle,
13 Glenten, de forskellige Arter af Falke,
and the falcon, and the kite, and the black kite after its kind;
14 alle de forskellige Arter af Ravne,
and every raven after its kind;
15 Strudsen, Takmasfuglen, Maagen, de forskellige Arter af Høge,
and the female ostrich, and the male ostrich, and the sea-gull, and the hawk after its kind;
16 Uglen, Hornuglen, Tinsjemetfuglen,
the owl, and the ibis and the swan,
17 Pelikanen, Aadselgribben, Fiskepelikanen,
and the pelican, and the carrion vulture, and the gannet,
18 Storken, de forskellige Arter af Hejrer, Hærfuglen og Flagermusen.
and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.
19 Alt vinget Kryb skal være eder urent og maa ikke spises.
And every winged crawling thing shall be unclean unto you; they shall not be eaten.
20 Men alle rene Fugle maa I spise.
All clean fowls shall ye eat.
21 I maa ikke spise noget selvdødt Dyr. Du kan give det til den fremmede inden dine Porte, at han kan spise det, eller du kan sælge det til en Udlænding. Thi du er et Folk, der er helliget HERREN din Gud. Du maa ikke koge et Kid i dets Moders Mælk.
Ye shall eat of no carcase; thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is within thy gates, that he may eat it, or sell it unto a foreigner; for thou art a holy people to Jehovah thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in its mother's milk.
22 Du skal give Tiende af al din Afgrøde, der vokser paa Marken, Aar for Aar;
Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, the produce of the field, year by year.
23 og for HERREN din Guds Aasyn, paa det Sted, han udvælger til Bolig for sit Navn, skal du nyde Tienden af dit Korn, din Most og din Olie og de førstefødte af dit Hornkvæg og Smaakvæg, for at du kan lære at frygte HERREN din Gud alle Dage.
And thou shalt eat before Jehovah thy God, in the place which he will choose to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear Jehovah thy God continually.
24 Men naar Vejen er dig for lang, saa du ikke kan bringe det derhen, eftersom det Sted, HERREN din Gud udvælger for der at stedfæste sit Navn, ligger for langt borte fra dig, fordi HERREN din Gud velsigner dig,
And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, because the place is too far from thee, which Jehovah thy God will choose to set his name there, when Jehovah thy God blesseth thee;
25 saa skal du gøre det i Penge og pakke Pengene ind og tage dem med og drage til det Sted, HERREN din Gud udvælger,
then shalt thou give it for money, and bind the money together in thy hand, and go to the place which Jehovah thy God will choose,
26 og du skal for Pengene købe alt, hvad dit Hjerte begærer, Hornkvæg og Smaakvæg, Vin og stærk Drik og alt, hvad du har Lyst til, og nyde det der for HERREN din Guds Aasyn og være glad sammen med din Husstand.
and thou shalt give the money for whatever thy soul desireth, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever thy soul asketh of thee; and thou shalt eat there before Jehovah thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thy house.
27 Og Leviten inden dine Porte maa du ikke glemme; thi han har ikke Arvelod og Del som du.
And thou shalt not forsake the Levite that is within thy gates; for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee.
28 Men hver Gang der er gaaet tre Aar, skal du tage al Tienden af din Afgrøde i det Aar og samle den inden dine Porte,
At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates;
29 saa at Leviten, der jo ikke har Arvelod og Del som du, og den fremmede, den faderløse og Enken inden dine Porte kan komme og spise sig mæt deraf; det skal du gøre, for at HERREN din Gud maa velsigne dig i al den Gerning, du tager dig for.
and the Levite — for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee — and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou doest.
