Anden Krønikebog 17
1 Hans Søn Josafat blev Konge i hans Sted. Han styrkede sin Stilling over for Israel
And his son Jehoshaphat reigns in his stead, and he strengthens himself against Israel,
2 ved at lægge Besætning i alle Judas befæstede Byer og indsætte Fogeder i Judas Land og de efraimitiske Byer, hans Fader Asa havde indtaget.
and puts a force in all the fortified cities of Judah, and puts garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that his father Asa had captured.
3 Og HERREN var med Josafat, thi han vandrede de Veje, hans Fader David til at begynde med havde vandret, og søgte ikke hen til Ba'alerne,
And YHWH is with Jehoshaphat, for he has walked in the first ways of his father David, and has not sought for the Ba‘alim,
4 men til sin Faders Gud og fulgte hans Bud og gjorde ikke som Israel.
for he has sought for the God of his father, and he has walked in His commands, and not according to the work of Israel.
5 Derfor grundfæstede HERREN Kongedømmet i hans Haand; og hele Juda bragte Josafat Gaver, saa han vandt stor Rigdom og Ære.
And YHWH establishes the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah gives a present to Jehoshaphat, and he has riches and honor in abundance,
6 Da voksede hans Mod til at vandre paa HERRENS Veje, saa han ogsaa udryddede Offerhøjene og Asjerastøtterne i Juda.
and his heart is high in the ways of YHWH, and again he has turned aside the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.
7 I sit tredje Regeringsaar sendte han sine Øverster Benhajil, Obadja, Zekarja, Netan'el og Mika ud for at undervise i Judas Byer,
And in the third year of his reign he has sent for his heads, for Ben-Hail, and for Obadiah, and for Zechariah, and for Nethaneel, and for Michaiah, to teach in cities of Judah;
8 ledsaget af Leviterne Sjemaja, Netanja, Zebadja, Asa'el, Sjemiramot, Jonatan, Adonija, Tobija og Tob-Adonija, Leviterne, og præsterne Elisjama og Joram.
and with them the Levites: Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijath, and Tob-Adonijah—the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
9 De havde HERRENS Lovbog med sig og underviste i Juda, og de drog rundt i alle Judas Byer og underviste Folket.
And they teach in Judah, and the Scroll of the Law of YHWH [is] with them, and they go around into all cities of Judah, and teach among the people.
10 En HERRENS Rædsel kom over alle Lande og Riger rundt om Juda, saa de ikke indlod sig i Krig med Josafat.
And there is a fear of YHWH on all kingdoms of the lands that [are] around Judah, and they have not fought with Jehoshaphat;
11 Fra Filisterne kom der Folk, som bragte Josafat Gaver og svarede Sølv i Skat; ogsaa Araberne bragte ham Smaakvæg, 7700 Vædre og 7700 Bukke.
and [some] from the Philistines are bringing a present to Jehoshaphat, and silver [as] tribute; also, the Arabians are bringing to him a flock of seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred male goats.
12 Saaledes gik det stadig fremad for Josafat, saa han til sidst fik meget stor Magt; og han byggede Borge og Forraadsbyer i Juda,
And Jehoshaphat is going on and becoming very great, and he builds palaces and cities of store in Judah,
13 og han havde store Forraad i Judas Byer og Krigsfolk, dygtige Krigere i Jerusalem.
and he has much work in cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty men of valor, [are] in Jerusalem.
14 Her følger en Fortegnelse over dem efter deres Fædrenehuse. Til Juda hørte følgende Tusindførere: Øversten Adna med 300 000 dygtige Krigere;
And these [are] their numbers, for the house of their fathers—of Judah, heads of thousands: Adnah the head, and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valor;
15 ved Siden af ham Øversten Johanan med 280 000 Mand;
and at his hand [is] Jehohanan the head, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand;
16 ved Siden af ham Amasja, Zikris Søn, der frivilligt gav sig i HERRENS Tjeneste, med 200 000 dygtige Krigere;
and at his hand [is] Amasiah son of Zichri, who is willingly offering himself to YHWH, and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
17 fra Benjamin var Eljada, en dygtig Kriger, med 200 000 Mand, væbnet med Bue og Skjold;
And of Benjamin, mighty men of valor: Eliada, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield;
18 ved Siden af ham Jozabad med 80 000 vel rustede Mand.
and at his hand [is] Jehozabad, and with him one hundred and eighty thousand armed ones of the host.
19 Disse stod i Kongens Tjeneste, og dertil kom de, som Kongen havde lagt i de befæstede Byer hele Juda over.
These [are] those serving the king, apart from those whom the king put in the fortress cities in all of Judah.
