Første Kongebog 9
1 Men da Salomo var færdig med at opføre HERRENS Hus og Kongens Palads og alt, hvad han havde faaet Lyst til og sat sig for at udføre,
And it came to pass, when Solomon had made an end of building the house of Yahweh, and the house of the king, and everything that Solomon desired, which he was pleased to make,
2 lod HERREN sig anden Gang til Syne for ham, som han havde ladet sig til Syne for ham i Gibeon;
then appeared Yahweh unto Solomon, a second time, —as he appeared unto him, in Gibeon.
3 og HERREN sagde til ham: »Jeg har hørt den Bøn og Begæring, du opsendte for mit Aasyn. Jeg har helliget dette Hus, som du har bygget, for der at stedfæste mit Navn til evig Tid, og mine Øjne og mit Hjerte skal være der alle Dage.
And Yahweh said unto him—I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, wherewith thou hast made supplication before me, I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my Name there unto times age-abiding, —and mine eyes and my heart shall be there, continually:
4 Hvis du nu vandrer for mit Aasyn som din Fader David i Hjertets Uskyld og i Oprigtighed, saa du gør alt, hvad jeg har paalagt dig, og holder mine Anordninger og Lovbud,
As for thee, therefore, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, with a whole heart and with uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, —and, my statutes and my regulations, wilt keep,
5 saa vil jeg opretholde din Kongetrone i Israel evindelig, som jeg lovede din Fader David, da jeg sagde: En Efterfølger skal aldrig fattes dig paa Israels Trone.
then will I establish the throne of thy kingdom over Israel, unto times age-abiding, —as I promised unto David thy father, saying, There shall not be cut off to thee a man, from off the throne of Israel.
6 Men hvis I eller eders Børn vender eder bort fra mig og ikke holder mine Bud, mine Anordninger, som jeg har forelagt eder, men gaar hen og dyrker andre Guder og tilbeder dem,
If ye, turn back, ye or your sons, from following me, and keep not my commandments, my statutes, which I have set before you, —but depart and serve other gods, and bow yourselves down to them,
7 saa vil jeg udrydde Israel fra det Land, jeg gav dem; og det Hus, jeg har helliget for mit Navn, vil jeg forkaste fra mit Aasyn, og Israel skal blive til Spot og Spe blandt alle Folk,
then will I cut off Israel, from the face of the soil, which I have given unto them, and, the house which I have hallowed for my Name, will I suffer to be carried away from before me, —and Israel shall become a byword and a mockery, among all the peoples;
8 og dette Hus skal blive en Ruindynge, og enhver, som gaar der forbi, skal blive slaaet af Rædsel og give sig til at haanfløjte. Og naar man siger: Hvorfor har HERREN handlet saaledes mod dette Land og dette Hus?
and, this house which had been renowned, shall be desolate, every one that passeth by it, shall be astonished and shall whistle, —and men shall say—For what cause, hath Yahweh done, thus, unto this land, and unto this house?
9 skal der svares: Fordi de forlod HERREN deres Gud, som førte deres Fædre ud af Ægypten, og holdt sig til andre Guder, tilbad og dyrkede dem; derfor har HERREN bragt al denne Elendighed over dem!«
And men will answer—Because they forsook Yahweh their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold of other gods, and bowed themselves down to them, and served them, for this cause, hath Yahweh brought in upon them all this ruin.
10 Da de tyve Aar var omme, i hvilke Salomo havde bygget paa de to Bygninger, HERRENS Hus og Kongens Palads —
And it came to pass, at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, —the house of Yahweh, and the house of the king;
11 Kong Hiram af Tyrus havde sendt Salomo Cedertræ, Cyprestræ og Guld, saa meget han ønskede da gav Kong Salomo Hiram tyve Byer i Landskabet Galilæa.
Hiram king of Tyre having supplied Solomon with timber of cedar, and with timber of fir, and with gold, according to all his desire, that, then, King Solomon gave unto Hiram twenty cities, in the land of Galilee.
12 Men da Hiram kom fra Tyrus for at se de Byer, Salomo havde givet ham, syntes han ikke om dem;
And Hiram came out from Tyre to view the cities which, Solomon, had given him, —and they were not pleasing in his eyes.
13 og han sagde: »Hvad er det for Byer, du har givet mig, Broder?« Derfor kaldte man den Kabullandet, som det hedder den Dag i Dag.
So he said—What cities are these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them, Unfruitful Land, [as they are called] unto this day.
14 Men Hiram sendte Kongen 120 Guldtalenter.
Now Hiram had sent to the king, —a hundred and twenty talents of gold.
15 Paa følgende Maade hang det sammen med de Hoveriarbejdere, Kong Salomo udskrev til at opføre HERRENS Hus, hans eget Palads, Millo, Jerusalems Mur, Hazor, Megiddo og Gezer
Now, the following, is an account of the tax which King Solomon raised, for building the house of Yahweh and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, —and Hazor and Megiddo, and Gezer.
16 (Farao, Ægypterkongen, var draget op, havde indtaget Gezer og stukket det i Brand; alle Kana'anæere, der boede i Byen, havde han ladet dræbe og derpaa givet sin Datter, Salomos Hustru den i Medgift.
Pharaoh king of Egypt, had gone up and captured Gezer, and burned it with fire, the Canaanites also who were dwelling in the city, had he slain, —and had given it as a dowry, to his daughter, wife of Solomon.
17 Nu genopbyggede Salomo Gezer), Nedre-Bet-Horon,
So then Solomon built Gezer, and Beth-horon, the nether,
18 Ba'alat, Tamar i Ørkenen i Juda Land,
and Baalath and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land;
19 alle Salomos Forraadsbyer, Vognbyerne og Rytterbyerne, og alt andet, som Salomo fik Lyst til at bygge i Jerusalem, i Libanon og i hele sit Rige:
also all the store cities, which Solomon had, and the cities for chariots, and the cities for horsemen, —and the desire of Solomon that he was pleased to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land that he ruled over.
20 Alt, hvad der var tilbage af Amoriterne, Hetiterne, Perizziterne, Hivviterne og Jebusiterne, og som ikke hørte til Israeliterne,
All the people that were left, of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, who were, not of the sons of Israel;
21 deres Efterkommere, som var tilbage efter dem i Landet, og som Israeliterne ikke havde været i Stand til at lægge Band paa, dem udskrev Salomo til Hoveriarbejde, som det er den Dag i Dag.
their sons, who were left after them in the land, whom the sons of Israel were not able to devote to destruction, Solomon levied them for a toiling labour-band [which remaineth] unto this day.
22 Af Israeliterne derimod satte Salomo ingen til Arbejde, men de var Krigsfolk og Hoffolk, Hærførere og Høvedsmænd hos, ham og Førere for hans Stridsvogne og Rytteri. —
But, of the sons of Israel, Solomon devoted none to bond-service, —but, they, were men of war, and his servants, and his generals, and his heroes, and captains of his chariots, and his horsemen.
23 Tallet paa Overfogederne, der ledede Arbejdet for Salomo, var 550; de havde Tilsyn med Folkene, der arbejdede. —
These, were the chiefs of the officers, who were over the work, for Solomon, five hundred and fifty, —who ruled over the people that wrought in the work.
24 Faraos Datter var lige flyttet fra Davidsbyen ind i det Hus, han havde bygget til hende, da tog han fat paa at opføre Millo. —
Scarcely had Pharaoh’s daughter come up out of the city of David, into her own house, which he had built for her, when he built Millo.
25 Tre Gange om Aaret ofrede Salomo Brændofre og Takofre paa det Alter, han havde bygget HERREN, og tændte Offerild for HERRENS Aasyn; og han fuldførte Templet.
And Solomon used to offer, three times a year, ascending-sacrifices and peace-offerings, upon the altar which he had built unto Yahweh, and to offer incense at the altar which was before Yahweh, —thus Solomon gave completeness unto the house.
26 Kong Salomo byggede ogsaa Skibe i Ezjongeber, der ligger ved Elat ved det røde Havs Kyst i Edom;
A fleet also, did King Solomon build in Ezion-geber, which is beside Eloth on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.
27 og Hiram sendte sine Folk, befarne Søfolk, om Bord paa Skibene sammen med Salomos Folk.
And Hiram sent in the fleet his servants, seamen, having knowledge of the sea, —with the servants of Solomon;
28 De sejlede til Ofir, hvor de hentede 420 Talenter Guld, som de bragte Kong Salomo.
and they came to Ophir, and fetched from thence, gold, four hundred and twenty talents, —and brought it to King Solomon.
