< Salme 4 >

1 Til Sangmesteren; med Strengeleg; en Psalme af David.
In parts according to verses. A Psalm of David. When I called upon him, the God of my justice heeded me. In tribulation, you have enlarged me. Have mercy on me, and heed my prayer.
2 Naar jeg raaber, da bønhør mig, min Retfærdigheds Gud! i Trængsel skaffede du mig Rum; vær mig naadig og hør min Bøn!
Sons of men, how long will you be dull in heart, so that whatever you love is in vain, and whatever you seek is false? (Pause)
3 I Menneskens Børn! hvor længe skal min Ære være til Skændsel? I elske Forfængelighed og søge Løgn. (Sela)
And know this: the Lord has made wondrous his holy one. The Lord will heed me when I cry out to him.
4 Vider dog, at Herren har udkaaret sin hellige; Herren hører, naar jeg raaber til ham.
Be angry, and do not be willing to sin. The things that you say in your hearts: be sorry for them on your beds. (Pause)
5 Bliver vrede, men synder ikke; taler i eders Hjerte paa eders Leje; og værer stille! (Sela)
Offer the sacrifice of justice, and hope in the Lord. Many say, “Who reveals to us what is good?”
6 Ofrer Retfærdigheds Ofre, og forlader eder paa Herren!
The light of your countenance, Lord, has been sealed upon us. You have given joy to my heart.
7 Mange sige: Hvo vil vise os godt? Herre! opløft dit Ansigts Lys over os.
By the fruit of their grain, wine, and oil, they have been multiplied.
8 Du gav Glæde i mit Hjerte større end den, de havde, da deres Korn og deres Most var i Overflod. I Fred vil jeg baade lægge mig og sove; thi du, Herre! skal lade mig bo ene i Tryghed.
In peace itself, I will sleep and I will rest. For you, O Lord, have established me singularly in hope.
