< Ordsprogene 14 >
1 Kvinders Visdom har bygget sit Hus; men Daarskaben bryder det ned med sine Hænder.
Every wise woman has built her house, And the foolish breaks it down with her hands.
2 Den, som vandrer i sin Oprigtighed, frygter Herren; men den, som gaar paa Krogveje, foragter ham.
Whoever is walking in his uprightness is fearing YHWH, And the perverted is despising Him [in] his ways.
3 I Daarens Mund er Hovmods Ris; men de vises Læber skulle bevare dem selv.
A rod of pride [is] in the mouth of a fool, And the lips of the wise preserve them.
4 Hvor ingen Øksne ere, der er Krybben ren; men megen Indtægt kommer ved Oksens Kraft.
Without oxen a stall [is] clean, And great [is] the increase by the power of the ox.
5 Et trofast Vidne lyver ikke; men et falsk Vidne udblæser Løgne.
A faithful witness does not lie, And a false witness breathes out lies.
6 Spotteren søger Visdom, og han finder den ikke; men for den forstandige er Kundskab let.
A scorner has sought wisdom, and it is not, And knowledge [is] easy to the intelligent.
7 Gak bort fra en Mand, som er en Daare; thi du vil ikke have fundet Kundskab paa hans Læber.
Go from before a foolish man, Or you have not known the lips of knowledge.
8 Den kloges Visdom er, at han forstaar sig paa sin Vej; men Daarers Taabelighed er, at de blive bedragne.
The wisdom of the prudent [is] to understand his way, And the folly of fools [is] deceit.
9 Daarerne spottes af deres eget Skyldoffer; men med de oprigtige er Velbehageligheden.
Fools mock at a guilt-offering, And among the upright—a pleasing thing.
10 Hjertet kender sin Sjæls Bitterhed, og en fremmed skal ikke blande sig i dets Glæde.
The heart knows its own bitterness, And a stranger does not interfere with its joy.
11 De ugudeliges Hus skal ødelægges; men de retsindiges Telt skal blomstre.
The house of the wicked is destroyed, And the tent of the upright flourishes.
12 Der er en Vej, som kan synes en Mand ret; men til sidst bliver den Vej til Døden.
There is a way—right before a man, And its latter end [are] ways of death.
13 Selv under Latteren føler Hjertet Smerte, og til sidst bliver Glæden Bedrøvelse.
Even in laughter is the heart pained, And the latter end of joy [is] affliction.
14 Den, hvis Hjerte er afveget, skal mættes ved sine Veje, men den gode Mand ved det, han har i Eje.
The backslider in heart is filled from his ways, And a good man—from his fruits.
15 Den uerfarne tror alting, men den kloge agter paa sin Gang.
The simple gives credence to everything, And the prudent attends to his step.
16 Den vise frygter og viger fra ondt; men en Daare er overmodig, og tryg.
The wise is fearing and turning from evil, And a fool is transgressing and is confident.
17 Den, som er hastig til Vrede, gør Daarlighed, og den underfundige Mand hades.
Whoever is short of temper does folly, And a man of wicked schemes is hated.
18 De uvidende arve Daarlighed; men de kloge favne Kundskab.
The simple have inherited folly, And the prudent are crowned [with] knowledge.
19 De onde maa bøje sig for de godes Ansigt og de ugudelige for den retfærdiges Porte.
The evil have bowed down before the good, And the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20 Selv for sin Ven er den fattige forhadt; men mange ere de, som elske den rige.
The poor is hated even of his neighbor, And those loving the rich [are] many.
21 Hvo som foragter sin Næste, synder; men den, som forbarmer sig over de elendige, er lyksalig.
Whoever is despising his neighbor sins, Whoever is favoring the humble, O his blessedness.
22 Fare ikke de vild, som optænke ondt? men de, som optænke godt, finde Miskundhed og Troskab.
Do they who are devising evil not err? And kindness and truth [are] to those devising good,
23 I alt besværligt Arbejde er der Fordel; men hvor det bliver ved Læbers Ord, fører det kun til Mangel.
In all labor there is advantage, And a thing of the lips [is] only to want.
24 De vises Rigdom er deres Krone; men Daarers Taabelighed bliver Taabelighed.
The crown of the wise is their wealth, The folly of fools [is] folly.
25 Et sanddru Vidne redder Sjæle, men den, som udblæser Løgn, er svigefuld.
A true witness is delivering souls, And a deceitful one breathes out lies.
26 I Herrens Frygt har en et stærkt Værn, og for hans Børn skal der være en Tilflugt.
Strong confidence [is] in the fear of YHWH, And there is a refuge to His sons.
27 Herrens Frygt er Livets Kilde, saa at man viger fra Dødens Snarer.
The fear of YHWH [is] a fountain of life, To turn aside from snares of death.
28 At have meget Folk er en Konges Ære; men hvor Folket er borte, er det en Fyrstes Fordærvelse.
The honor of a king [is] in the multitude of a people, And the ruin of a prince in lack of people.
29 Den langmodige har megen Forstand; men den, som er hastig i Sindet, forraader Daarskab.
Whoever is slow to anger [is] of great understanding, And whoever is short in temper is exalting folly.
30 Et blidt Hjerte er Liv for Legemet; men Hidsighed er Raaddenhed for Benene,
A healed heart [is] life to the flesh, And rottenness to the bones [is] envy.
31 Hvo som fortrykker den ringe, forhaaner hans Skaber; men hvo som forbarmer sig over den fattige, ærer ham.
An oppressor of the poor reproaches his Maker, And whoever is honoring Him Is favoring the needy.
32 Den ugudelige styrtes for sin Ondskab; men den retfærdige har Fortrøstning i sin Død.
The wicked is driven away in his wickedness, And the righteous [is] trustful in his death.
33 I den forstandiges Hjerte hviler Visdommen; men i Daarers Indre giver den sig til Kende.
Wisdom rests in the heart of the intelligent. And it is known in the midst of fools.
34 Retfærdighed ophøjer et Folk; men Synden er Folkenes Skændsel
Righteousness exalts a nation, And the righteousness of peoples [is] a sin-offering.
35 Kongens Velbehag er til en klog Tjener, men hans Vrede er over den, som gør Skam.
The favor of a king [is] to a wise servant, And one causing shame is an object of his wrath!
