Josua 9
1 Og det skete, der alle Kongerne, som vare paa denne Side Jordanen, i Bjerglandet og i Lavlandet og paa hele Kysten af det store Hav tværs overfor Libanon, samt Hethiterne og Amoriterne, Kananiterne og Feresiterne, Heviterne og Jebusiterne, hørte det:
And it was when heard all the kings who [were] on [the] other side of the Jordan in the hill country and in the Shephelah and in all [the] coast of the sea great to [the] front of Lebanon the Hittite[s] and the Amorite[s] the Canaanite[s] the Perizzite[s] the Hivite[s] and the Jebusite[s].
2 Da samlede de sig til Hobe at stride imod Josva og imod Israel endrægteligen.
And they gathered together all together to wage war with Joshua and with Israel mouth one.
3 Da Indbyggerne af Gibeon havde hørt, hvad Josva havde gjort ved Jeriko og Ai,
And [the] inhabitants of Gibeon they heard [that] which he had done Joshua to Jericho and to Ai.
4 da handlede ogsaa de med List og gik hen og gave sig ud for Sendebud; og de toge gamle Sække paa deres Asener og gamle sønderrevne og bødede Læderflasker til Vin
And they acted also they with cunning and they went and they acted as ambassadors and they took sacks worn out for donkeys their and skin-bottles of wine worn out and split and tied up.
5 og gamle og lappede Sko paa deres Fødder og gamle Klæder paa sig, og alt Brødet til deres Tæring var tørt og mullent.
And sandals worn out and patched [were] on feet their and garments worn out [were] on them and all [the] bread of provision[s] their it was dried up it was crumbs.
6 Og de gik til Josva i Lejren ved Gilgal, og de sagde til ham og til Israels Mænd: Vi ere komne fra et langt fra liggende Land, saa gører nu Pagt med os.
And they went to Joshua to the camp Gilgal and they said to him and to [the] man of Israel from a land distant we have come and therefore make to us a covenant.
7 Da sagde Israels Mænd til Heviten: Maaske du bor midt iblandt os, hvorledes kunne vi da gøre Pagt med dig.
(And he said *Q(K)*) [the] man of Israel to the Hivite[s] perhaps in midst my you [are] dwelling and how? (will I make *Q(k)*) to you a covenant.
8 Og de sagde til Josva: Vi ere dine Tjenere; og Josva sagde til dem: Hvo ere I, og hvorfra komme I?
And they said to Joshua [are] servants your we and he said to them Joshua who? [are] you and from where? do you come.
9 Og de sagde til ham: Dine Tjenere ere komne fra et saa re langt fra liggende Land for Herren din Guds Navns Skyld; thi vi have hørt hans Rygte og alt det, som han gjorde i Ægypten.
And they said to him from a land distant very they have come servants your to [the] name of Yahweh God your for we have heard [the] report of him and all that he did in Egypt.
10 Og alt det, som han gjorde ved Amoriternes to Konger, som vare paa hin Side Jordanen, ved Sihon, Kongen i Hesbon, og ved Og, Kongen i Basan, som var i Astharoth.
And - all that he did to [the] two [the] kings of the Amorite[s] who [were] on [the] other side of the Jordan to Sihon [the] king of Heshbon and to Og [the] king of Bashan who [was] in Ashtaroth.
11 Derfor sagde vore Ældste og alle vort Lands Indbyggere til os saalunde: Tager Tæring med eder paa Vejen og gaar dem i Møde, og siger til dem: Vi ere eders Tjenere, saa gører nu Pagt med os.
And they said to us elders our and all [the] inhabitants of land our saying take in hand your provision[s] for the journey and go to meet them and you will say to them [are] servants your we and therefore make to us a covenant.
12 Dette er vort Brød, det toge vi varmt med os paa Rejsen fra vore Huse den Dag, vi gik ud for at vandre til eder; men se, nu er det tørt, og det er mullent.
This - bread our warm we took as our provisions it from homes our on [the] day came out we to come to you and now here! it has dried up and it has been crumbs.
13 Og disse ere Læderflasker til Vin, som vi fyldte, der de vare nye, se, de ere og sønderrevne; og disse vore Klæder og vore Sko ere blevne gamle for denne saare lange Vejs Skyld.
And these [the] skin-bottles of wine which we filled new and here! they have split and these garments our and sandals our they have worn out from [the] greatness of the journey very.
14 Saa toge Mændene af deres Rejsekost, og de spurgte ikke Herrens Mund ad.
And they took the men some of provision[s] their and [the] mouth of Yahweh not they asked.
15 Og Josva gjorde Fred med dem og gjorde Pagt med dem, at han vilde lade dem leve; og Menighedens Fyrster tilsvore dem det.
And he made to them Joshua peace and he made to them a covenant to let live them and they swore an oath to them [the] leaders of the congregation.
16 Men det skete, der tre Dage vare til Ende, efter at de havde gjort Pagt med dem, da hørte de, at de vare nær hos dem, og at de boede midt iblandt dem.
And it was from [the] end of three days after that they had made to them a covenant and they heard that [were] near they to him and in midst his they [were] dwelling.
17 Thi der Israels Børn rejste frem, da kom de paa den tredje Dag til deres Stæder; og deres Stæder vare Gibeon og Kefira og Beeroth og Kirjath-Jearim.
And they set out [the] people of Israel and they came to cities their on the day third and cities their [were] Gibeon and Kephirah and Beeroth and Kiriath Jearim.
18 Og Israels Børn ihjelsloge dem ikke; thi Menighedens Fyrster havde tilsvoret dem ved Herren, Israels Gud, og al Menigheden knurrede mod Fyrsterne.
And not they attacked them [the] people of Israel for they had sworn an oath to them [the] leaders of the congregation by Yahweh [the] God of Israel and they grumbled all the congregation on the leaders.
19 Da sagde alle Fyrsterne til hele Menigheden: Vi have tilsvoret dem ved Herren, Israels Gud; derfor kunne vi nu ikke røre dem.
And they said all the leaders to all the congregation we we have sworn an oath to them by Yahweh [the] God of Israel and therefore not we are able to touch them.
20 Dette ville vi gøre dem: Vi ville lade dem leve, at der ikke skal komme en Vrede over os for den Eds Skyld, som vi have tilsvoret dem.
This we will do to them and we will let live them and not it will be towards us wrath on the oath which we swore to them.
21 Fremdeles sagde Fyrsterne til dem: Lader dem leve, at de maa være Vedhuggere og Vanddragere for hele Menigheden, ligesom Fyrsterne have sagt til dem.
And they said to them the leaders let them live and they were cutters of wood and drawers of water for all the congregation just as they had spoken to them the leaders.
22 Da kaldte Josva ad dem og talede til dem og sagde: Hvi bedroge I os og sagde: Vi bo saare langt fra eder, og I bo dog midt iblandt os?
And he summoned them Joshua and he spoke to them saying why? did you deceive us saying [are] distant we from you very and you in midst our [are] dwelling.
23 Derfor skulle I nu være forbandede, saa at der ikke skal være nogen iblandt eder, som jo er Træl, Vedhugger eller Vanddrager til min Guds Hus.
And therefore [are] cursed you and not he will be cut off from you a slave and cutters of wood and drawers of water for [the] house of God my.
24 Og de svarede Josva og sagde: Fordi det blev dine Tjenere sikkert tilkendegivet, hvad Herren din Gud bød Mose sin Tjener, at han vilde give eder alt Landet og ødelægge alle Landets Indbyggere for eders Ansigt, saa frygtede vi saare for vort Liv for eders Ansigt og have gjort denne Gerning.
And they answered Joshua and they said that certainly it was told to servants your this: he had commanded Yahweh God your Moses servant his to give to you all the land and to destroy all [the] inhabitants of the land from before you and we were afraid very for lives our because of you and we did the thing this.
25 Men nu, se, vi ere i din Haand; som det er godt og som det er ret for dine Øjne at gøre os, det gør!
And therefore here we [are] in hand your according to the good and according to the right in view your to do to us do.
26 Og han gjorde saaledes mod dem; og han reddede dem fra Israels Børns Haand, og de sloge dem ikke ihjel.
And he did to them thus and he delivered them from [the] hand of [the] people of Israel and not they killed them.
27 Og Josva satte dem paa den samme Dag til Vedhuggere og Vanddragere for Menigheden og for Herrens Alter indtil denne Dag, ved det Sted, som han vilde udvælge.
And he made them Joshua on the day that cutters of wood and drawers of water for the congregation and for [the] altar of Yahweh until the day this to the place which he will choose.
