1 Proto se musíme pečlivě držet nebeských pravd, které jsme slyšeli. Jinak pro nás pozbudou smyslu.
Therefore we ought to pay greater attention to the things that were heard, so that we will not drift away.
2 Poselství vyřizované anděly se vždy prokázalo jako pravdivé a lidé, kteří si od nich nedali říci, nikdy neunikli trestu.
For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense;
3 Co nás proto opravňuje k tomu, abychom se domnívali, že nám beztrestně projde, když si nebudeme všímat příležitosti k záchraně, kterou nám nabízel sám Pán a nyní ještě nabízí prostřednictvím svých svědků?
how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation—which at the first having been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard;
4 Bůh sám potvrzoval pravdivost těchto nebeských poselství znameními, divy, různými projevy své moci a tím, že věřícím rozděloval prostřednictvím svatého Ducha v rozličné míře zvláštní schopnosti k vzájemné službě.
God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders, by various works of power, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?
5 Budoucí svět, o kterém mluvíme, nebude podroben andělům,
For he did not subject the world to come, of which we speak, to angels.
6 ale Ježíši a lidem, kteří v něho uvěřili. V Písmu se o Ježíši říká: „Kdo je člověk, že na něho pamatuješ a že se o něj tak staráš?
But one has somewhere testified, saying, "What is man, that you think of him? Or the son of man, that you care for him?
7 Jen na krátko jsi ho postavil níž než anděly, ale pak jsi ho obdařil slávou a ctí
You made him a little lower than the angels. You crowned him with glory and honor.
8 a všechno jsi mu podrobil. Nic nebylo vyňato z jeho pravomoci.“Zatím ještě nevidíme, že by mu bylo všechno podrobeno.
You have put all things under his feet." For in that he put all things under him, he left nothing that is not under him. But now we do not yet see that all things are under him.
9 Zato je zřejmé, že Ježíše, který byl na chvíli menší než andělé, Bůh opatřil slávou a ctí, protože za každého z nás vytrpěl smrt.
But we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for everyone.
10 A bylo správné, že Ježíš – skrze něhož a pro něhož bylo všechno stvořeno – přivedl mnohé do slávy. Tato záchrana se uskutečnila skrze jeho utrpení.
For it became him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
11 Všimněte si, že ten, který vede, i ti, kteří jsou vedeni, mají stejný původ. Ježíš se nestydí nazývat je svými bratry, protože říká:
For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers,
12 „Budu svým bratrům ohlašovat tvé jméno. Budu tě oslavovat spolu s jinými.“
saying, "I will declare your name to my brothers. In the midst of the assembly I will praise you."
13 A jindy říká: „Spolehnu se na Boha.“A dále: „Hle, já a děti, které mi dal Bůh.“
And again, "I will put my trust in him." And again, "Look, here I am, and the children God has given me."
14 Protože sourozence spojuje tělo a krev, stal se i Ježíš člověkem,
Since then the children have shared in flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner partook of the same, that through death he might bring to nothing him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
15 aby svou smrtí zlomil moc ďábla, který ovládá smrt, a osvobodil ty, kteří procházejí životem zotročeni neustálým strachem ze smrti.
and might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 Je přece jasné, že pomoc, kterou Ježíš přinesl, neplatí andělům, ale Abrahamovým potomkům.
For, truly, he did not come to help the angels, but to help the offspring of Abraham.
17 Proto se nám musel ve všem připodobnit, aby se stal před Bohem naším milosrdným a důvěryhodným prostředníkem a smírcem.
Therefore he was obligated in all things to be made like his brothers, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people.
18 Protože podstoupil pokušení, může pomáhat těm, kteří procházejí zkouškami.
For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
