Žalmy 76

1 Přednímu z kantorů na neginot, žalm Azafův a píseň. Znám jest Bůh v Judstvu, a v Izraeli veliké jméno jeho.

For the chief musician, on stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph, a song. God has made himself known in Judah; his name is great in Israel.

2 V Sálem jest stánek jeho, a obydlé jeho na Sionu.

His tent is in Salem; his dwelling place is in Zion.

3 Tamť jest polámal ohnivé šípy lučišť, pavézu a meč, i válku. (Sélah)

There he broke the arrows of the bow, the shield, the sword, and the other weapons of war. (Selah)

4 Slavný jsi učiněn a důstojný horami loupeže.

You shine brightly and reveal your glory, as you descend from the mountains, where you killed your victims.

5 V loupež dáni jsou udatní srdcem, zesnuli snem svým, aniž nalezly zmužilé hrdiny síly v rukou svých.

The bravehearted were plundered; they fell asleep. All the warriors were helpless.

6 Od žehrání tvého, ó Bože Jákobův, i vůz i kůň tvrdě zesnuli.

At your rebuke, God of Jacob, both rider and horse fell asleep.

7 Ty jsi, ty velmi hrozný, a kdo jest, ješto by před tebou ostál v rozhněvání tvém?

You, yes you, are to be feared; who can stand in your sight when you are angry?

8 Když s nebe dáváš slyšeti výpověd svou, země se bojí a tichne,

From heaven you made your judgment heard; the earth was afraid and silent

9 Když povstává k soudu Bůh, aby zachoval všecky pokorné na zemi. (Sélah)

when you, God, arose to execute judgment and to save all the oppressed of the earth. (Selah)

10 Zajisté i hněv člověka chváliti tě musí, a ostatek zůřivosti skrotíš.

Surely your angry judgment against humanity will bring you praise; you gird yourself with what is left of your anger.

11 Sliby čiňte a plňte Hospodinu Bohu vašemu; kteřížkoli jste vůkol něho, přinášejte dary Přehroznému.

Make vows to Yahweh your God and keep them. May all who surround him bring gifts to him who is to be feared.

12 Onť odjímá ducha knížatům, a k hrůze jest králům zemským.

He cuts off the spirit of the princes; he is feared by the kings of the earth.
