1 Syn moudrý obveseluje otce, ale syn bláznivý zámutkem jest matce své.
The Proverbs of Solomon: A wise son, maketh a glad father, but, a foolish son, is the grief of his mother.
2 Neprospívají pokladové bezbožně nabytí, ale spravedlnost vytrhuje od smrti.
The treasures of lawlessness, do not profit, but, righteousness, delivereth from death.
3 Nedopustí lačněti Hospodin duši spravedlivého, statek pak bezbožných rozptýlí.
Yahweh, suffereth not to famish, the soul of the righteous, but, the desire of the lawless, he thrusteth away.
4 K nouzi přivodí ruka lstivá, ruka pak pracovitých zbohacuje.
He becometh poor, who dealeth with a slack hand, but, the hand of the diligent, maketh rich.
5 Kdo shromažďuje v létě, jest syn rozumný; kdož vyspává ve žni, jest syn, kterýž hanbu činí.
He that gathereth in summer, is a prudent son, he that sleepeth long in harvest, is a son causing shame.
6 Požehnání jest nad hlavou spravedlivého, ale ústa bezbožných přikrývají ukrutnost.
Blessings, are for the head of the righteous man, but, the mouth of the lawless, covereth up wrong.
7 Památka spravedlivého požehnaná, ale jméno bezbožných smrdí.
The memory of the righteous, yieldeth blessing, but, the name of the lawless, dieth out.
8 Moudré srdce přijímá přikázaní, ale blázen od rtů svých padne.
The wise in heart, will accept commandments, but, he that is foolish with his lips, shall be thrust away.
9 Kdo chodí upřímě, chodí doufanlivě; kdož pak převrací cesty své, vyjeven bude.
He that walketh uprightly, may walk securely, but, he that maketh crooked his ways, shall be found out.
10 Kdo mhourá okem, uvodí nesnáz; a kdož jest bláznivých rtů, padne.
He that winketh with the eye, causeth sorrow, and, he that is foolish with his lips, shall be thrust aside.
11 Pramen života jsou ústa spravedlivého, ale ústa bezbožných přikrývají ukrutnost.
A well-spring of life, is the mouth of the righteous, but, the mouth of the lawless, covereth wrong.
12 Nenávist vzbuzuje sváry, ale láska přikrývá všecka přestoupení.
Hatred, stirreth up strifes, but, over all transgressions, love throweth a covering.
13 Ve rtech rozumného nalézá se moudrost, ale kyj na hřbetě blázna.
In the lips of the intelligent, is found wisdom, but, a rod, is for the back of him that lacketh sense.
14 Moudří skrývají umění, úst pak blázna blízké jest setření.
Wise men, treasure up knowledge, but, the mouth of the foolish, is a terror near at hand.
15 Zboží bohatého jest město pevné jeho, ale nouze jest chudých setření.
The substance of the rich, is his strong city, the terror of the poor, is their poverty.
16 Práce spravedlivého jest k životu, nábytek pak bezbožných jest k hříchu.
The labour of the righteous, [leadeth] to life, the increase of the lawless, to sin.
17 Stezkou života jde, kdož přijímá trestání; ale kdož pohrdá domlouváním, bloudí.
On the way to life, is he that heedeth correction, but, he that hateth reproof, is going astray.
18 Kdož přikrývá nenávist rty lživými, i kdož uvodí v lehkost, ten blázen jest.
He that concealeth hatred, hath false lips, and he that sendeth forth slander, the same, is a dullard.
19 Mnohé mluvení nebývá bez hříchu, kdož pak zdržuje rty své, opatrný jest.
In the multitude of words, there wanteth not transgression, but, he that restraineth his lips, sheweth prudence.
20 Stříbro výborné jest jazyk spravedlivého, ale srdce bezbožných za nic nestojí.
Choice silver, is the tongue of the righteous, but, the sense of the lawless, is very small.
21 Rtové spravedlivého pasou mnohé, blázni pak pro bláznovství umírají.
The lips of the righteous, feed multitudes, but, the foolish, for lack of sense, shall die.
22 Požehnání Hospodinovo zbohacuje, a to beze všeho trápení.
The blessing of Yahweh, itself maketh rich, and he addeth no grievance therewith.
23 Za žert jest bláznu činiti nešlechetnost, ale muž rozumný moudrosti se drží.
It is, mere sport to a stupid man, to commit lewdness, but, wisdom, pertaineth to a man of understanding.
24 Èeho se bojí bezbožný, to přichází na něj; ale čehož žádají spravedliví, dává Bůh.
The dread of the lawless one, the same, shall overtake him, but, the desire of the righteous, shall he granted.
25 Jakož pomíjí vichřice, tak nestane bezbožníka, spravedlivý pak jest základ stálý.
Like the passing away of a tempest, so the lawless one is not, but, the righteous, [hath] an age-abiding foundation.
26 Jako ocet zubům, a jako dým očima, tak jest lenivý těm, kteříž jej posílají.
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so, is the sluggard, to them who send him.
27 Bázeň Hospodinova přidává dnů, léta pak bezbožných ukrácena bývají.
The reverence of Yahweh, addeth days, but, the years of the lawless, shall be shortened.
28 Očekávání spravedlivých jest potěšení, naděje pak bezbožných zahyne.
The hope of the righteous, shall be gladness, but, the expectation of the lawless, shall vanish.
29 Silou jest upřímému cesta Hospodinova, a strachem těm, kteříž činí nepravost.
A refuge for the blameless, is the path of Yahweh, but, destruction, [awaiteth] the workers of iniquity.
30 Spravedlivý na věky se nepohne, bezbožní pak nebudou bydliti v zemi.
The righteous, to times age-abiding, shall remain unshaken, but, the lawless, shall not inhabit the earth.
31 Ústa spravedlivého vynášejí moudrost, ale jazyk převrácený vyťat bude.
The mouth of the righteous, beareth the fruit of wisdom, but, a perverse tongue, shall be cut off.
32 Rtové spravedlivého znají, což jest Bohu libého, ústa pak bezbožných převrácené věci.
The lips of the righteous, know what is pleasing, but, the mouth of the lawless, [speaketh] perversities.
