Náhum 2
1 Táhneť zhoubce na tebe, ostříhejž pevnosti, vyhlídej na cestu, posilň bedr, dobře se silou opatř.
He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make [thy] loins strong, fortify [thy] power mightily.
2 Neboť jest odjal Hospodin pýchu Jákobovu jako pýchu Izraelovu, proto že vyprázdnili je zhoubcové, a réví jejich pokazili.
For the LORD hath turned away the excellence of Jacob, as the excellence of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine branches.
3 Pavéza udatných jeho červená, bojovníci červcem odění, vozové jako pochodně hořící jiskřiti budou v den mustruňku jeho, a jedle hrozně třásti se budou.
The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men [are] in scarlet: the chariots [shall be] with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir-trees shall be terribly shaken.
4 Po ulicích jezditi budou vozové, a hrčeti po ryncích; na pohledění budou jako pochodně, a jako blesk pronikati budou.
The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall jostle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.
5 Sšikuje nejznamenitější své, klesnou v šiku svém, pospíší ke zdem jeho, a skryše připravována bude.
He shall recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walk; they shall make haste to the wall thereof, and the defense shall be prepared.
6 Brány při řekách se otevrou, chrám se rozplyne.
The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved.
7 A Hutsab zajata jsuc, zavedena bude, a děvečky její poberou se, lkajíce jako holubice, a tepouce prsy své.
And Huzzab shall be led away captive, she shall be brought up, and her maids shall lead [her] as with the voice of doves, tabering upon their breasts.
8 A ačkoli jako rybník vod bylo Ninive od začátku svého, však již sami utíkají. Stůjte, stůjte a však žádný se neohlédne.
But Nineveh [is] of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, [shall they cry]; but none shall look back.
9 Rozchvátejtež stříbro, rozchvácejte zlato a nesčíslná zboží, a cožkoli nejvzácnějšího na všelikých klénotích drahých.
Take ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold: for [there is] no end of the store [and] glory out of all the pleasant furniture.
10 Prázdné a vyprázdněné, nýbrž docela zpuštěné bude, a srdce se rozplyne, a tlučení kolen vespolek i bolest na všech bedrách bude, a tváře všech zčernají jako hrnec.
She is empty, and void, and waste: and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, and much pain [is] in all loins, and the faces of them all gather blackness.
11 Kdež jest peleš lvů a to pastviště lvíčat, kamž chodíval lev, lev i lvíče, a nebylo žádného, kdo by přestrašil.
Where [is] the dwelling of the lions, and the feeding-place of the young lions, where the lion, [even] the old lion, walked, [and] the lion's whelp, and none made [them] afraid?
12 Lev, kterýž hojně lovíval mladým svým, a dávíval lvicím svým, kterýž naplňoval loupeží jeskyně své, a peleše své tím, což nahonil?
The lion tore in pieces enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his holes with prey, and his dens with ravin.
13 Aj, já proti tobě, praví Hospodin zástupů, a popálím na prach vozy tvé, a lvíčata tvá sžíře meč; i vypléním z země loupež tvou, a nebude slyšán více hlas poslů tvých.
Behold, I [am] against thee, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
