Ezdráš 10

1 Když se pak Ezdráš, padna před domem Božím, tak modlil a vyznával s pláčem, sešel se k němu z lidu Izraelského zástup velmi veliký mužů i žen i dětí. A když plakal lid pláčem velikým,

Now, when Ezra had prayed and when he had made confession, weeping and casting himself down, before the house of God, there gathered unto him out of Israel, an exceeding large convocation—men and women and children, for the people wept with a very bitter weeping.

2 Tedy mluvil Sechaniáš syn Jechielův z synů Elamových, a řekl Ezdrášovi: Myť jsme zhřešili proti Bohu svému, že jsme pojímali ženy cizozemky z národů zemí, a však vždy Izrael může míti naději při té věci.

Then responded Shecaniah son of Jehiel of the sons of Elam, and said unto Ezra, We, have been faithful with our God, and have married foreign women from among the peoples of the land, —yet, now, there is hope for Israel concerning this thing.

3 Nyní tedy vejděme v smlouvu s Bohem svým, zapudíce všecky ženy i syny jejich podlé rady Páně a těch, jenž se třesou před přikázaním Boha našeho, a tak podlé zákona ať se stane.

Now, therefore, let us solemnize a covenant unto our God—to put away all the women and such as have been born of them, in the counsel of my lord, and them who tremble at the commandment of our God, —and, according to the law, let it be done.

4 Vstaň, nebo na tobě jest ta věc, a my budeme při tobě. Posilň se a učiň tak.

Arise, for, upon thee, resteth the thing, but, we, are with thee, —be strong, and act.

5 I vstal Ezdráš a zavázal přísahou přednější kněží a Levíty a všecken lid Izraelský, aby tak učinili. I přisáhli.

Then arose Ezra and made the rulers of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel, swear to do according to this word—and they sware.

6 A vstav Ezdráš od domu Božího, odšel do pokojíka Jochananova, syna Eliasibova, i všel tam, a nejedl chleba, ani vody nepil; nebo zámutek měl pro přestoupení těch, jenž se přestěhovali.

Then arose Ezra from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Jehohanan son of Eliashib, —and, when he came thither, bread, did he not eat, and, water, did he not drink, for he was mourning over the unfaithfulness of them of the Exile.

7 Zatím dali provolati v Judstvu a v Jeruzalémě všechněm přestěhovaným, aby se shromáždili do Jeruzaléma,

Then made they a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem, unto all the Sons of the Exile, to gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;

8 Kdo by pak koli nepřišel ve třech dnech, podlé rady knížat a starších, aby všecken statek svůj propadl, a sám odloučen byl od shromáždění přestěhovaných.

and, whosoever should not come within three days, according to the counsel of the rulers and the elders, all his goods should be devoted, —and, himself, be separated from the convocation of them of the Exile.

9 A protož shromáždili se všickni muži Judští i Beniamin do Jeruzaléma ke dni třetímu, dvadcátého dne měsíce, (a ten měsíc byl devátý). I seděl všecken lid na ulici domu Božího, třesouce se pro tu věc i pro déšť.

Then were gathered together all the men of Judah and Benjamin unto Jerusalem, within three days, the same, was the ninth month, on the twentieth of the month, —and all the people remained in the broadway of the house of God, trembling concerning the thing, and because of the heavy rains.

10 Tedy vyvstal Ezdráš kněz a řekl k nim: Vy jste zhřešili, že jste pojímali ženy cizozemky, abyste přidali k provinění lidu Izraelského.

Then arose Ezra the priest, and said unto them, Ye, have acted unfaithfully, and have married foreign women, —to add unto the guilt of Israel.

11 Protož již vyznejte se Hospodinu Bohu otců svých, a čiňte vůli jeho, a oddělte se od národů cizích, i od žen cizozemek.

Now, therefore, make confession unto Yahweh God of your fathers, and do his pleasure, —and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the foreign women.

12 I odpovědělo všecko to shromáždění, a řekli hlasem velikým: Podlé slova tvého povinni jsme tak učiniti.

Then responded all the convocation and said, with a loud voice, —Thus, according to thy word concerning us, must it be done.

13 Ale lidu mnoho jest, a prška, a nemůžeme vně státi. K tomu není ta práce jednoho dne ani dvou, nebo mnoho jest nás, kteříž jsme v tom přestoupili.

Nevertheless, the people, are many, and, the season, is that of the heavy rains, and we are not able to stand outside, —and, the business, is not one for a single day, nor yet for two, for we have abundantly transgressed, in this thing.

14 Nechť jsou postavena, prosíme, knížata naše ze všeho shromáždění, a kdož koli jest v městech našich, kterýž pojal ženy cizozemky, ať přijde v čas uložený, a s nimi starší z jednoho každého města i soudcové jejich, až bychom tak odvrátili hněv prchlivosti Boha našeho od sebe pro tu věc.

Let, we beseech thee, our rulers take up their station for all the convocation, and, all who, throughout our cities, have married foreign women, let them come in at times appointed, and, with them, the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the glow of the anger of our God be turned from us, concerning this matter.

15 Takž Jonatan syn Azahelův, a Jachziáš syn Tekue, postaveni byli nad tím, Mesullam pak a Sabbetai, Levítové, pomáhali jim.

Only Jonathan son of Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah, made a stand against this, —and, Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite, helped them.

16 Tedy učinili tak při těch, jenž přestěhováni byli. I odděleni jsou Ezdráš kněz a muži přední čeledí otcovských po domích otců svých, všickni ti ze jména, a zasedli prvního dne měsíce desátého, aby to vyhledali.

But the Sons of the Exile, did thus, and Ezra the priest separated to himself certain men—ancestral heads by their ancestral houses, and all of them by name, —and they took their seats on the first day of the tenth month to search into the matter;

17 Což i konali při všech mužích, kteříž byli pojali ženy cizozemky, až do prvního dne prvního měsíce.

and they made an end with all the men who had married foreign women, —by the first day of the first month.

18 Našli se pak z synů kněžských, jenž zpojímali ženy cizozemky tito: Z synů Jesua syna Jozadakova, a z bratří jeho: Maaseiáš, Eliezer, Jarib a Gedaliáš.

Now there were found, of the sons of the priests, who had married foreign women, —of the sons of Jeshua son of Jozadak, and his brethren, Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah;

19 Ale povolili, aby zapudili ženy své. A ti, kteříž provinili, obětovali skopce z stáda za vinu svou.

and they gave their hand, that they would put away their wives, —and, being guilty, [they offered] a ram of the flock for their guilt.

20 A z synů Immer: Chanani a Zebadiáš.

And, of the sons of Immer, Hanani, and Zebadiah.

21 Z synů Charim: Maaseiáš, Eliah, Semaiáš, Jechiel a Uziáš.

And, of the sons of Harim, Maaseiah and Elijah and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.

22 Z synů Paschur: Elioenai, Maaseiáš, Izmael, Natanael, Jozabad a Elasa.

And, of the sons of Passhur, Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad, and Elasar.

23 A z Levítů: Jozabad, Simei, Kelaiáš, (jenž jest Kelita), Petachiáš, Juda a Eliezer.

And, of the Levites, Jozabad and Shimei, and Kelaiah, the same, is Kelita, Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.

24 Z zpěváků pak Eliasib, a z vrátných Sallum, Telem a Uri.

And, of the singers, Eliashib. And, of the doorkeepers, Shallum and Telem and Uri.

25 A z lidu Izraelského, z synů Faresových: Ramiáš, Jeziáš, Malkiáš, Miamin, Eleazar, Malkiáš a Benaiáš.

And, of Israel, of the sons of Parosh, Ramiah and Izziah and Malchijah and Mijamin and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.

26 Z synů Elamových: Mataniáš, Zachariáš, Jechiel, Abdi, Jeremot a Eliah.

And, of the sons of Elam, Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Elijah.

27 Z synů Zattu: Elioenai, Eliasib, Mataniáš, Jeremot, Zabad, a Aziza.

And, of the sons of Zattu, Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.

28 Též z synů Bebai: Jochanan, Chananiáš, Zabbai, Atlai.

And, of the sons of Bebai, Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Athlai.

29 Z synů Báni: Mesullam, Malluch, Adaiáš, Jasub, Seal, Jeramot.

And, of the sons of Bani, Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, Jeremoth.

30 Z synů Pachat Moábových: Adna a Chélal, Benaiáš, Maaseiáš, Mataniáš, Bezaleel, Binnui a Manasse.

And, of the sons of Pahath-moab, Adna and Chelal, —Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.

31 Z synů Charimových: Eliezer, Isiáš, Malkiáš, Semaiáš, Simeon,

And, [of] the sons of Harim, Eliezer, Isshijah, Malchijah, Shemaiah, Shimeon;

32 Beniamin, Malluch, Semariáš.

Benjamin, Malluch, Shemariah.

33 Z synů Chasumových: Mattenai, Mattata, Zabad, Elifelet, Jeremai, Manasses, Simei.

Of the sons of Hashum, Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, —Jeremai, Manasseh, Shimei.

34 Z synů Báni: Maadai, Amram, Uel,

Of the sons of Bani, Maadai, Amram, and Uel;

35 Benaiáš, Bediáš, Keluhu,

Benaiah, Bedeiah, Cheluhu;

36 Vaniáš, Meremot, Eliasib,

Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib;

37 Mattaniáš, Mattenai, Jaasav,

Mettaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasu;

38 Báni, Binnui, Simei,

and Bani, and Binnui, Shimei;

39 Selemiáš, Nátan a Adaiáš,

and Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah;

40 Machnadbai, Sasai, Sarai,

Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai;

41 Azarel, Selemiáš, Semariáš,

Azarel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah;

42 Sallum, Amariáš a Jozef.

Shallum, Amariah, Joseph.

43 Z synů Nébových: Jehiel, Mattitiáš, Zabad, Zebina, Jaddav, Joel a Benaiáš.

Of the sons of Nebo, Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, —Iddo, and Joel, Benaiah.

44 Ti všickni pojali byli ženy cizozemky, a byly z těch žen některé, že i děti zplodily.

All these, had taken foreign women, —and had begotten of them children.
