Skutky Apoštolů 2
1 A když přišel den padesátý, byli všickni spolu na jednom místě.
In the course of the Festival at the close of the Harvest the disciples had all met together,
2 I stal se rychle zvuk s nebe, jako přicházejícího větru prudkého, a naplnil všecken dům, kdež seděli.
when suddenly there came from the heavens a noise like that of a strong wind rushing by; it filled the whole house in which they were sitting.
3 I ukázali se jim rozdělení jazykové jako oheň, kterýžto posadil se na každém z nich.
Then there appeared tongues of what seemed to be flame, separating, so that one settled on each of them;
4 I naplněni jsou všickni Duchem svatým, a počali mluviti jinými jazyky, jakž ten Duch dával jim vymlouvati.
and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with strange ‘tongues’ as the Spirit prompted their utterances.
5 Byli pak v Jeruzalémě přebývající Židé, muži nábožní, ze všelikého národu, kterýž pod nebem jest.
Now there were then staying in Jerusalem religious Jews from every country in the world;
6 A když se stal ten hlas, sešlo se množství a užasli se toho, že je slyšel jeden každý, ani mluví přirozeným jazykem jeho.
and, when this sound was heard, numbers of people collected, in the greatest excitement, because each of them heard the disciples speaking in his own language.
7 I děsili se všickni a divili se, řkouce jedni k druhým: Aj, zdaliž nejsou tito všickni, kteříž mluví, Galilejští?
They were utterly amazed, and kept asking in astonishment: “What! Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans?
8 A kterak my je slyšíme jeden každý z nás mluviti jazykem naším, v kterémž jsme se zrodili?
Then how is it that we each of us hear them in our own native language?
9 Partští, a Medští, a Elamitští, a kteříž přebýváme v Mezopotamii, v Židovstvu a v Kappadocii, v Pontu a v Azii,
Some of us are Parthians, some Medes, some Elamites; and some of us live in Mesopotamia, in Judea and Cappadocia, in Pontus and Roman Asia,
10 V Frygii a v Pamfylii, v Egyptě a v krajinách Libye, kteráž jest vedle Cyrénu, a hosté Římané, Židé, i vnově na víru obrácení,
in Phrygia and Pamphylia, in Egypt and the districts of Libya adjoining Cyrene; some of us are visitors from Rome,
11 Kretští i Arabští, slyšíme je, ani mluví jazyky našimi veliké věci Boží.
either Jews by birth or converts, and some are Cretans and Arabians — yet we all alike hear them speaking in our own tongues of the great things that God has done.”
12 I děsili se všickni a divili se, jeden k druhému řkouce: I což toto bude?
They were all utterly amazed and bewildered. “What does it mean?” they asked one another.
13 Jiní pak posmívajíce se, pravili: Mstem se zpili tito.
But there were some who said with a sneer: “They have had too much new wine.”
14 A stoje Petr s jedenácti, pozdvihl hlasu svého a promluvil k nim: Muži Židé a všickni, kteříž bydlíte v Jeruzalémě, toto vám známo buď, a ušima pozorujte slov mých.
Then Peter, surrounded by the eleven other Apostles, stood up, and, raising his voice, addressed the crowd. “Men of Judea,” he began, “and all you who are staying in Jerusalem, let me tell you what this means. Mark well my words.
15 Jistě nejsouť tito, jakož vy se domníváte, zpilí, poněvadž jest teprv třetí hodina na den.
These men are not drunk, as you suppose; for it is only now nine in the morning! No!
16 Ale totoť jest, což jest předpovědíno skrze proroka Joele:
This is what is spoken of in the prophet Joel —
17 A budeť v posledních dnech, (dí Bůh, ) vyleji z Ducha mého na všeliké tělo, a prorokovati budou synové vaši, i dcery vaše, a mládenci vaši vidění vídati budou, a starci vaši sny míti budou.
‘It shall come about in the last days,’ God says, ‘That I will pour out my Spirit on all mankind; Your sons and your daughters shall become Prophets, Your young men shall see visions, And your old men dream dreams;
18 A zajisté na služebníky své a na služebnice své v těch dnech vyleji z Ducha mého, a budou prorokovati.
Yes, even on the slaves — for they are mine — both men and women, I will in those days pour out my Spirit, And they shall become Prophets;
19 A ukáži zázraky na nebi svrchu a znamení na zemi dole, krev a oheň a páru dýmovou.
And I will show wonders in the heavens above, And signs on the earth below — Blood and fire and mist of smoke;
20 Slunce obrátí se v temnost a měsíc v krev, prve než přijde den Páně veliký a zjevný.
The sun shall become darkness, And the moon blood-red, Before the Day of the Lord comes — that great and awful day.
21 A staneť se, že každý, kdožkoli vzýval by jméno Páně, spasen bude.
Then shall every one who invokes the Name of the Lord be saved.’
22 Muži Izraelští, slyšte slova tato: Ježíše toho Nazaretského, muže od Boha zveličeného mezi vámi mocmi a zázraky a znameními, kteréž činil skrze něho Bůh uprostřed vás, jakož i vy sami víte,
Men of Israel, listen to what I am saying. Jesus of Nazareth, a man whose mission from God to you was proved by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God showed among you through him, as you know full well —
23 Toho, pravím, vydaného, z uložené rady a předzvědění Božího vzavše a skrze ruce nešlechetných ukřižovavše, zamordovali jste.
He, I say, in accordance with God’s definite plan and with his previous knowledge, was betrayed, and you, by the hands of lawless men, nailed him to a cross and put him to death.
24 Jehožto Bůh vzkřísil, zprostiv ho bolestí smrti, jakož nebylo možné jemu držánu býti od ní.
But God released him from the pangs of death and raised him to life, it being impossible for death to retain its hold upon him.
25 Nebo David praví o něm: Spatřoval jsem Pána před sebou vždycky; nebo jest mi po pravici, abych se nepohnul.
Indeed it was to him that David was referring when he said — ‘I have had the Lord ever before my eyes, For he stands at my right hand, that I should not be disquieted.
26 Protož rozveselilo se srdce mé, a zplésal jazyk můj, nýbrž i tělo mé odpočine v naději.
Therefore my heart was cheered, and my tongue told its delight; Yes, even my body, too, will rest in hope;
For thou wilt not abandon my soul to the Place of Death, Nor surrender me, your holy one, to undergo corruption. (Hadēs g86)
28 Známé jsi mi učinil cesty života, a naplníš mne utěšením před obličejem svým.
Thou have shown me the path to life, Thou wilt fill me with gladness in your presence.’
29 Muži bratří, sluší směle mluviti k vám o patriarchovi Davidovi, že i umřel, i pochován jest, i hrob jeho jest u nás až do dnešního dne.
Brothers, I can speak to you the more confidently about the Patriarch David, because he is dead and buried, and his tomb is here among us to this very day.
30 Prorok tedy byv a věděv, že přísahou zavázal se jemu Bůh, že z plodu ledví jeho podle těla vzbudí Krista a posadí na stolici jeho,
David, then, Prophet as he was, knowing that God ‘had solemnly sworn to him to set one of his descendants upon his throne,’ looked into the future,
31 To předzvěděv, mluvil o vzkříšení Kristovu, že není opuštěna duše jeho v pekle, ani tělo jeho vidělo porušení. (Hadēs g86)
and referred to the resurrection of the Christ when he said that ‘he had not been abandoned to the Place of Death, nor had his body undergone corruption.’ (Hadēs g86)
32 Toho Ježíše vzkřísil Bůh, jehožto my všickni svědkové jsme.
It was this Jesus, whom God raised to life; and of that we are ourselves all witnesses.
33 Protož pravicí Boží jsa zvýšen, a vzav zaslíbení Ducha svatého od Otce, vylil to, což vy nyní vidíte a slyšíte.
And now that he has been exalted to the right hand of God, and has received from the Father the promised gift of the Holy Spirit, he has begun to pour out that gift, as you yourselves now see and hear.
34 Neboť jest David nevstoupil v nebe, ale on praví: Řekl Pán Pánu mému: Seď na pravici mé,
It was not David who went up into Heaven; for he himself says — ‘The Lord said to my master: “Sit on my right hand,
35 Dokavadž nepoložím nepřátel tvých, aby byli podnože noh tvých.
Till I put your enemies as a footstool under thy feet.”’
36 Protož věziž jistě všecken dům Izraelský, žeť jest Bůh i Pánem ho učinil i Kristem, toho Ježíše, kteréhož jste vy ukřižovali.
So let the whole nation of Israel know beyond all doubt, that God has made him both Lord and Christ — this very Jesus whom you crucified.”
37 To slyševše, zkormouceni jsou v srdci svém, a řekli ku Petrovi a k jiným apoštolům: Což máme činiti, muži bratří?
When the people heard this, they were conscience-smitten, and said to Peter and the rest of the Apostles: “Brothers, what can we do?”
38 Tedy Petr řekl k nim: Pokání čiňte, a pokřti se jeden každý z vás ve jménu Ježíše Krista na odpuštění hříchů a přijmete dar Ducha svatého.
“Repent,” answered Peter, “and be baptized every one of you in the Faith of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 Vámť jest zajisté zaslíbení stalo se a synům vašim, i všechněm, kteříž daleko jsou, kterýchžkoli povolal by Pán Bůh náš.
For the promise is for you and for your children, and also for all those now far away, who may be called by the Lord our God.”
40 A jinými slovy mnohými osvědčoval a napomínal jich, řka: Oddělte se od pokolení toho zlého.
With many other words Peter enforced his teaching, while the burden of his exhortations was — “Save yourselves from the perverse spirit of this age.”
41 Tedy ti, kteříž ochotně přijali slova jeho, pokřtěni jsou, a připojilo se k nim ten den duší okolo tří tisíců.
So those who accepted his teaching were baptized, and about three thousand people joined the disciples on that day alone.
42 I zůstávali v učení apoštolském, a v společnosti, a v lámání chleba, a na modlitbách.
They devoted themselves to the teaching of the Apostles and to the Common Life of the Church, to the Breaking of the Bread and to the Prayers.
43 I přišla na všelikou duši bázeň, a mnozí divové a zázrakové dáli se skrze apoštoly.
A deep impression was made upon every one, and many wonders and signs were done at the hands of the Apostles.
44 Všickni pak věřící byli pospolu, a měli všecky věci obecné.
All who became believers in Christ held everything for the common use;
45 A prodávali vladařství a statky, a dělili mezi všecky, jakž komu potřebí bylo.
they sold their property and their goods, and shared the proceeds among them all, according to their individual needs.
46 A na každý den trvajíce jednomyslně v chrámě, a lámajíce po domích chléb, přijímali pokrm s potěšením a sprostností srdce,
Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the Temple Courts, and to the Breaking of Bread at their homes, while they partook of their food in simple-hearted gladness, praising God, and winning the good-will of all the people.
47 Chválíce Boha a milost majíce u všeho lidu. Pán pak přidával církvi na každý den těch, kteříž by spaseni byli.
And the Lord daily added to their company those who were in the path of Salvation.
