1 Timoteovi 6
1 Kteřížkoli pod jhem jsou služebníci, ať mají pány své za hodné vší uctivosti, aby jméno Boží a učení jeho nebylo rouháno.
Whoever are servants under the yoke, let them consider their masters to be worthy of every honor, lest the name and doctrine of the Lord be blasphemed.
2 Kteříž pak mají pány věřící, nechažť jich sobě nezlehčují, protože jsou bratřími, ale tím raději slouží, protože jsou věřící a milí, dobrodiní Božího účastníci. Tomu vyučuj a napomínej.
But those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brothers, but rather serve them all the more because they are believing and beloved, participants of the same service. Teach and exhort these things.
3 Jestližeť pak kdo jinak učí, a nepovoluje zdravým řečem Pána našeho Jezukrista, a tomu učení, kteréž jest podle zbožnosti,
If anyone teaches otherwise, and does not consent to the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to that doctrine which is in accord with piety,
4 Takovýť jest nadutý, nic neuměje, ale nemoudrost provodí při otázkách a hádkách o slova, z kterýchžto pochází závist, svár, rouhání, zlá domnění,
then he is arrogant, knowing nothing, yet languishing amid the questions and quarrels of words. From these arise envy, contention, blasphemy, evil suspicions:
5 Marné hádky lidí na mysli porušených a pravdy zbavených, domnívajích se, že by zbožnost byla zisk tělesný. Takových se varuj.
the conflicts of men who have been corrupted in mind and deprived of truth, who consider profit to be piety.
6 Jestiť pak zisk veliký zbožnost, s takovou myslí, kteráž na tom, což má, přestati umí.
But piety with sufficiency is great gain.
7 Nic jsme zajisté nepřinesli na tento svět, bezpochyby že také nic odnésti nemůžeme.
For we brought nothing into this world, and there is no doubt that we can take nothing away.
8 Ale majíce pokrm a oděv, na tom přestaneme.
But, having nourishment and some kind of covering, we should be content with these.
9 Kteříž pak chtí zbohatnouti, upadají v pokušení, a v osidlo, a v žádosti mnohé nerozumné a škodlivé, kteréž pohřižují lidi v zahynutí a v zatracení.
For those who want to become rich fall into temptation and into the snare of the devil and into many useless and harmful desires, which submerge men in destruction and in perdition.
10 Kořen zajisté všeho zlého jestiť milování peněz, kterýchžto někteří žádostivi jsouce, pobloudili od víry a sami se naplnili bolestmi mnohými.
For desire is the root of all evils. Some persons, hungering in this way, have strayed from the faith and have entangled themselves in many sorrows.
11 Ale ty, ó člověče Boží, takových věcí utíkej, následuj pak spravedlnosti, zbožnosti, víry, lásky, trpělivosti, tichosti.
But you, O man of God, flee from these things, and truly pursue justice, piety, faith, charity, patience, meekness.
12 Bojuj ten dobrý boj víry, dosáhni věčného života, k němuž i povolán jsi, a vyznals dobré vyznání před mnohými svědky. (aiōnios g166)
Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you have been called, and make a good profession of faith in the sight of many witnesses. (aiōnios g166)
13 Přikazujiť tobě před Bohem, kterýž všecko obživuje, a před Kristem Ježíšem, kterýž osvědčil před Pontským Pilátem dobré vyznání,
I charge you, in the sight of God, who enlivens all things, and in the sight of Christ Jesus, who gave the testimony of a good profession under Pontius Pilate,
14 Abys ostříhal přikázání tohoto, chovaje se bez poskvrny a bez úhony, až do zjevení se Pána našeho Ježíše Krista,
to observe the commandment, immaculately, irreproachably, unto the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Kteréž časem svým ukáže ten blahoslavený a sám mocný, Král kralujících a Pán panujících,
For at the proper time, he shall reveal the blessed and only Power, the King of kings and the Lord of lords,
16 Kterýž sám má nesmrtelnost, a přebývá v světle nepřistupitelném, jehož žádný z lidí neviděl, aniž viděti může, kterémužto čest a síla věčná. Amen. (aiōnios g166)
who alone holds immortality, and who inhabits the inaccessible light, whom no man has seen, nor even is able to see, to whom is honor and everlasting dominion. Amen. (aiōnios g166)
17 Bohatým tohoto světa přikazuj, ať nejsou vysokomyslní a ať nedoufají v nejistém zboží, ale v Bohu živém, kterýž dává nám hojnost všeho ku požívání. (aiōn g165)
Instruct the wealthy of this age not to have a superior attitude, nor to hope in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, who offers us everything in abundance to enjoy, (aiōn g165)
18 A ať dobře činí, a bohatnou v dobrých skutcích, a snadní ať jsou k udílení, i přívětiví,
and to do good, to become rich in good works, to donate readily, to share,
19 Tak sobě skládajíce základ dobrý k času budoucímu, aby dosáhli věčného života.
to gather for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may obtain true life.
20 Ó Timotee, cožť jest svěřeno, ostříhej, utíkaje bezbožných daremních křiků a odporů falešně nazvaného umění,
O Timothy, guard what has been deposited with you, avoiding the voice of profane novelties and of opposing ideas, which are falsely called knowledge.
21 Kterýmž někteří chlubíce se, z strany víry pobloudili od cíle. Milost Boží s tebou. Amen. K Timoteovi první list psán byl z Laodicie, města hlavního Frygie Pakacianské.
Certain persons, promising these things, have perished from the faith. May grace be with you. Amen.
