Matouš 17
1 A po šesti dnech pojal Ježíš Petra a Jakuba a Jana bratra jeho, i uvedl je na horu vysokou soukromí,
After six days, Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain by themselves.
2 A proměnil se před nimi. I zastkvěla se tvář jeho jako slunce, roucho pak jeho učiněno bílé jako světlo.
He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his garments became as white as the light.
3 A aj, ukázali se jim Mojžíš a Eliáš, rozmlouvající s ním.
And look, Moses and Elijah appeared to them talking with him.
4 A odpověděv Petr, řekl Ježíšovi: Pane, dobré jest nám tuto býti. Chceš-li, uděláme tuto tři stánky, tobě jeden a Mojžíšovi jeden a Eliášovi jeden.
Peter answered, and said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, let us make three tents here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
5 Když pak on ještě mluvil, aj, oblak světlý zastínil je. A aj, hlas z toho oblaku řkoucí: Tentoť jest ten můj milý Syn, v němž mi se dobře zalíbilo, toho poslouchejte.
While he was still speaking, look, a bright cloud overshadowed them. And look, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him."
6 To uslyšavše učedlníci, padli na tváři své a báli se velmi.
When the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces, and were very afraid.
7 A přistoupiv Ježíš, dotekl se jich, řka: Vstaňte a nebojte se.
Jesus came and touched them and said, "Get up, and do not be afraid."
8 Pozdvihše pak očí svých, žádného neviděli, než samého Ježíše.
And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus alone.
9 Když pak sstupovali s té hory, přikázal jim Ježíš, řka: Žádnému nepravte tohoto vidění, dokudž by Syn člověka nevstal z mrtvých.
As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, "Do not tell anyone what you saw, until the Son of Man has risen from the dead."
10 I otázali se ho učedlníci jeho, řkouce: Což to pak zákonníci praví, že má Eliáš prvé přijíti?
The disciples asked him, saying, "Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?"
11 Ježíš pak odpovídaje, řekl jim: Eliáš zajisté přijde prvé, a napraví všecky věci.
And he answered and said, "Elijah indeed comes, and will restore all things,
12 Ale pravím vám, že Eliáš již přišel, a však nepoznali ho, ale učinili mu, což chtěli. Takť i Syn člověka trpěti bude od nich.
but I tell you that Elijah has come already, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted to. Even so the Son of Man will also suffer by them."
13 Tedy srozuměli učedlníci, že jim to pravil o Janovi Křtiteli.
Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the Baptist.
14 A když přišli k zástupu, přistoupil k němu člověk, a poklekl před ním na kolena,
When they came to the crowd, a man came to him, kneeling down to him, saying,
15 A řekl: Pane, smiluj se nad synem mým, nebo náměsičník jest, a těžce se trápí. Často zajisté padá do ohně a častokrát do vody.
"Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is epileptic, and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire, and often into the water.
16 I přivedl jsem ho učedlníkům tvým, ale nemohli ho uzdraviti.
So I brought him to your disciples, and they could not cure him."
17 Odpovídaje pak Ježíš, řekl: Ó národe nevěrný a převrácený, dokud budu s vámi? Dokudž vás snášeti budu? Přiveďte mi jej sem.
Jesus answered, "Faithless and perverse generation. How long will I be with you? How long will I bear with you? Bring him here to me."
18 I přimluvil tomu ďábelství Ježíš. I vyšlo od něho; a uzdraven jest ten mládenec v tu hodinu.
Jesus rebuked him, the demon went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour.
19 Tedy přistoupivše učedlníci k Ježíšovi soukromí, řekli: Proč jsme my ho nemohli vyvrci?
Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, "Why weren't we able to cast it out?"
20 Ježíš pak řekl jim: Pro nevěru svou. Amen zajisté pravím vám: Budete-li míti víru jako zrno horčičné, díte hoře této: Přejdi odsud tam, i přejde, a nebudeť vám nic nemožného.
So he said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."
21 Toto pak pokolení nevychází, jediné skrze modlitbu a půst.
22 A když byli v Galilei, řekl jim Ježíš: Syn člověka bude vydán v ruce lidské,
While they were gathering together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men,
23 A zamordujíť jej, ale třetího dne z mrtvých vstane. I zarmoutili se náramně.
and they will kill him, and the third day he will be raised up." They were exceedingly sorry.
24 A když přišli do Kafarnaum, přistoupili ku Petrovi ti, kteříž plat vybírali, a řekli: Což mistr váš nedává platu?
When they had come to Capernaum, those who collected the didrachma coins came to Peter, and said, "Does not your teacher pay the didrachma?"
25 A on řekl: Dává. A když přišel domů, předšel jej Ježíš, řka: Co se tobě zdá, Šimone? Králové zemští od kterých berou daň aneb plat? Od synů-li svých, čili od cizích?
He said, "Yes." When he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth receive toll or tribute? From their children, or from strangers?"
26 Dí jemu Petr: Od cizích. I řekl mu Ježíš: Tedy synové jsou svobodní.
And when he said, "From strangers." Jesus said to him, "Therefore the children are exempt.
27 Ale abychom jich nepohoršili, jda k moři, vrz udici, a tu rybu, kteráž nejprvé uvázne, vezmi, a otevra ústa její, nalezneš groš. Ten vezma, dej jim za mne i za sebe.
But, lest we cause them to stumble, go to the sea, cast a hook, and take up the first fish that comes up. When you have opened its mouth, you will find a stater coin. Take that, and give it to them for me and you."
