Lukáš 3
1 Léta pak patnáctého císařství Tiberia císaře, když Pontský Pilát spravoval Judstvo, a Heródes byl čtvrtákem v Galilei, Filip pak bratr jeho byl čtvrtákem Iturejské a Trachonitidské krajiny, a Lyzaniáš čtvrtákem Abilinským,
Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod was tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip, tetrarch of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias, tetrarch of Abilene;
2 Za nejvyššího kněze Annáše a Kaifáše, stalo se slovo Páně k Janovi synu Zachariášovu na poušti.
during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zachariah, in the Desert.
3 I chodil po vší okolní krajině Jordánské, káže křest pokání na odpuštění hříchů,
And Johnwent into all the region about the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
4 Jakož psáno jest v knize proroctví Izaiáše proroka, řkoucího: Hlas volajícího na poušti: Připravujte cestu Páně, přímé čiňte stezky jeho.
As it is written in the book of the prophet Isaiah. The voice of one crying in the desert, Prepare the way for God, make straight paths for him.
5 Každé údolí bude vyplněno, a každá hora a pahrbek bude ponížen; i budou křivé věci spraveny, a ostré cesty budou hladké.
Every ravine shall be filled up, Every hill and mountain shall be laid low, The crooked shall be made straight, And the rough roads smooth;
6 A uzříť všeliké tělo spasení Boží.
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
7 Pravil pak zástupům vycházejícím, aby se křtili od něho: Plemeno ještěrčí, kdo vám ukázal, kterak byste utekli budoucího hněvu?
So Johnused to say to the crowd of those who were going out to be baptized by him. "You breed of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Protož neste ovoce hodné pokání, a neříkejtež u sebe: Otce máme Abrahama. Neboť pravím vám, že jest mocen Bůh z kamení tohoto vzbuditi syny Abrahamovi.
Then bring forth fruit befitting your penitence, and do not begin to say to yourselves, "We have Abraham as our father." I tell you that God is able to raise up sons to Abraham out of these stones.
9 A jižť jest i sekera k kořenu stromů přiložena. Protož každý strom, kterýž nenese ovoce dobrého, vyťat a na oheň uvržen bývá.
And now truly the axe is already laid at the root of the trees. So every tree which is not bearing good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire."
10 I tázali se ho zástupové, řkouce: Což tedy činiti budeme?
And the crowd began to ask him questions. "What shall we do then?" they asked. In reply he said to them.
11 A odpovídaje, pravil jim: Kdo má dvě sukně, dej nemajícímu, a kdo má pokrmy, tolikéž učiň.
"If you have two shirts share with him who has none; and let him who has food do the same."
12 Přišli pak i celní křtíti se, i řekli jemu: Mistře, co budeme činiti?
There came to him publicans also to be baptized, and they said to him, "Master, what must we do?"
13 A on řekl jim: Nic více nevybírejte mimo to, což jest ustaveno.
And he said to them, "Exact no more than the sum allowed you."
14 I tázali se ho také i žoldnéři, řkouce: A my což činiti budeme? I řekl jim: Nad žádným se nepotřásejte, aniž podvodně čiňte, a dosti mějte na svých žoldích.
The soldiers also repeatedly questioned him, saying, "And we, what shall we do?" "Do not intimidate any one," he replied, "nor lay false charges, and be content with your pay."
15 A když pak lid očekával, a myslili všickni v srdcích svých o Janovi, nebyl-li by snad on Kristus,
And while the people were in expectation, and all men were debating in their hearts about John,
16 Odpověděl Jan všechněm, řka: Jáť zajisté křtím vás vodou, ale jdeť silnější nežli já, kterémuž nejsem hoden rozvázati řeménka u obuvi jeho. Tenť vás křtíti bude Duchem svatým a ohněm.
whether perhaps he were the Christ, Johnanswered, saying to all of them. "I indeed am baptizing you in water, but One is coming after me, mightier than I, whose shoe-latchet I am not worthy to unloose. He shall baptize you in the Holy Ghost and in fire.
17 Jehožto věječka v ruce jeho, a vyčistíť humno své, a shromáždí pšenici do obilnice své, ale plevy páliti bude ohněm neuhasitelným.
He has his fan in his hand to cleanse his threshing-floor thoroughly, and to gather the wheat into his storehouse, but the chaff will he burn with unquenchable fire."
18 A tak mnohé i jiné věci, napomínaje, zvěstoval lidu.
With many other exhortations then Johndeclared the gospel to the people;
19 Heródes pak čtvrták, když od něho byl trestán pro Herodiadu manželku Filipa bratra svého, i ze všech nešlechetností, kteréž činil Heródes,
but Herod, the Tetrarch, when reproved by him because of Herodias, his brother’s wife, and because of all the wicked deeds that he had done,
20 Přidal i toto nade všecko, že vsadil Jana do žaláře.
added yet this above them all that he shut up Johnin prison.
21 I stalo se, když se křtil všecken lid, a když se pokřtil i Ježíš, a modlil se, že otevřelo se nebe.
Now after all the people had been baptized, and Jesus himself had been baptized and was praying,
22 A sstoupil Duch svatý v tělesné způsobě jako holubice na něj, a stal se hlas s nebe, řkoucí: Ty jsi ten Syn můj milý, v toběť mi se zalíbilo.
heaven opened, and the Holy Spirit, in bodily form like a dove, descended upon him. and a voice came out of heaven, saying. "Thou art my Son, dearly beloved; in thee is my delight."
23 Ježíš pak počínal býti jako ve třidcíti letech, jakž domnín byl, syn Jozefův, kterýž byl syn Heli,
And Jesus himself when he began to teach was about thirty years of age. He was the son (as it was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Heli,
24 Kterýž byl Matatův, kterýž byl Léví, kterýž byl Melchův, kterýž byl Jannův, kterýž byl Jozefův,
