1 Já jsem muž okoušející trápení od metly rozhněvání Božího.
ALEPH. I am the man that sees poverty, through the rod of his wrath upon me.
2 Zahnal mne, a uvedl do tmy a ne k světlu.
He has taken me, and led me away into darkness, and not [into] light.
3 Toliko proti mně se postavuje, a obrací ruku svou přes celý den.
Nay, against me has he turned his hand all the day.
4 Uvedl sešlost na tělo mé a kůži mou, a polámal kosti mé.
He has made old my flesh and my skin; he has broken my bones.
5 Zastavěl mne a obklíčil přeodpornou hořkostí.
BETH. He has built against me, and compassed my head, and brought travail [upon me].
6 Postavil mne v tmavých místech jako ty, kteříž již dávno zemřeli.
He has set me in dark places, as them that have long been dead.
7 Ohradil mne, abych nevyšel; obtížil ocelivý řetěz můj.
He has builded against me, and I can’t come forth: he has made my brazen [chain] heavy.
8 A jakžkoli volám a křičím, zacpává uši před mou modlitbou.
GIMEL. Yes, [though] I cry and shout, he shuts out my prayer.
9 Ohradil cesty mé tesaným kamenem, a stezky mé zmátl.
DALETH. He has built up my ways, he has hedged my paths;
10 Jest nedvěd číhající na mne, lev v skrejších.
he has troubled me, [as] a she-bear lying in wait: he is to me [as] a lion in secret places.
11 Cesty mé stočil, anobrž roztrhal mne, a na to mne přivedl, abych byl pustý.
He pursued [me] after I departed, and brought me to a stand: he has utterly ruined me.
12 Natáhl lučiště své, a vystavil mne za cíl střelám.
HE. He has bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
13 Postřelil ledví má střelami toulu svého.
He has caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
14 Jsem v posměchu se vším lidem svým, a písničkou jejich přes celý den.
I became a laughing stock to all my people; and their song all the day.
15 Sytí mne hořkostmi, opojuje mne pelynkem.
VAU. He has filled me with bitterness, he has drenched me with gall.
16 Nadto potřel o kameníčko zuby mé, vrazil mne do popela.
And he has dashed out my teeth with gravel, he has fed me with ashes.
17 Tak jsi vzdálil, ó Bože, duši mou od pokoje, až zapomínám na pohodlí,
He has also removed my soul from peace: I forgot prosperity.
18 A říkám: Zahynulatě síla má i naděje má, kterouž jsem měl v Hospodinu.
Therefore my success has perished, and my hope from the Lord.
19 A však duše má rozvažujíc trápení svá a pláč svůj, pelynek a žluč,
ZAIN. I remembered by reason of my poverty, and because of persecution my bitterness and gall shall be remembered;
20 Rozvažujíc to ustavičně, ponižuje se ve mně.
and my soul shall meditate with me.
21 A přivodě sobě to ku paměti, (naději mám),
This will I lay up in my heart, therefore I will endure.
22 Že veliké jest milosrdenství Hospodinovo, když jsme do konce nevyhynuli. Nepřestávajíť zajisté slitování jeho,
HETH. [It is] the mercies of the Lord, that he has not failed me, because his compassions are not exhausted. Pity [us], O Lord, early [every] month: for we are not brought to an end, because his compassions are not exhausted.
23 Ale nová jsou každého jitra; převeliká jest pravda tvá.
[They are] new every morning: great is your faithfulness.
24 Díl můj jest Hospodin, říká duše má; protož naději mám v něm.
The Lord is my portion, says my soul; therefore will I wait for him.
25 Dobrý jest Hospodin těm, jenž očekávají na něj, duši té, kteráž ho hledá.
TETH. The Lord is good to them that wait for him: the soul which shall seek him
26 Dobré jest trpělivě očekávajícímu na spasení Hospodinovo.
[is] good, and shall wait for, and quietly expect salvation of the Lord.
27 Dobré jest muži tomu, kterýž by nosil jho od dětinství svého,
TETH. [It is] good for a man when he bears a yoke in his youth.
28 Kterýž by pak byl opuštěn, trpělivě se má v tom, což na něj vloženo,
He will sit alone, and be silent, because he has borne [it] upon him.
29 Dávaje do prachu ústa svá, až by se ukázala naděje,
30 Nastavuje líce tomu, kdož jej bije, a sytě se potupou.
JOD. He will give [his] cheek to him that smites him: he will be filled full with reproaches.
31 Neboť nezamítá Pán na věčnost;
For the Lord will not reject for ever.
32 Nýbrž ačkoli zarmucuje, však slitovává se podlé množství milosrdenství svého.
CHAPH. For he that has brought down will pity, and [that] according to the abundance of his mercy.
33 Netrápíť zajisté z srdce svého, aniž zarmucuje synů lidských.
He has not answered [in anger] from his heart, though he has brought low the children of a man.
34 Aby kdo potíral nohama svýma všecky vězně v zemi,
LAMED. To bring down under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
35 Aby nespravedlivě soudil muže před oblíčejem Nejvyššího,
to turn aside the judgement of a man before the face of the Most High,
36 Aby převracel člověka v při jeho, Pán nelibuje.
to condemn a man [unjustly] in his judgement, the Lord has not given commandment.
37 Kdo jest, ješto když řekl, stalo se něco, a Pán nepřikázal?
Who has thus spoken, and it has come to pass? the Lord has not commanded it.
38 Z úst Nejvyššího zdali nepochází zlé i dobré?
Out of the mouth of the Most High there shall not come forth evil and good.
39 Proč by tedy sobě stýskal člověk živý, muž nad kázní za hříchy své?
MEM. Why should a living man complain, a man concerning his sin?
40 Zpytujme raději a ohledujme cest našich, a navraťme se až k Hospodinu.
NUN. Our way has been searched out and examined, and we will turn to the Lord.
41 Pozdvihujme srdcí i rukou svých k Bohu silnému v nebe.
Let us lift up our hearts with [our] hand to the lofty One in heaven.
42 Myť jsme se zpronevěřili, a zpurní jsme byli, protož ty neodpouštíš.
We have sinned, we have transgressed; and you have not pardoned.
43 Obestřels se hněvem a stiháš nás, morduješ a nešanuješ.
SAMECH. You has visited [us] in wrath, and driven us away: you has slain, you has not pitied.
44 Obestřels se oblakem, aby nemohla proniknouti k tobě modlitba.
You have veiled yourself with a cloud because of prayer, that I might be blind,
45 Za smeti a povrhel položil jsi nás u prostřed národů těchto.
and be cast off. AIN. You have set us [alone] in the midst of the nations.
46 Rozdírají na nás ústa svá všickni nepřátelé naši.
All our enemies have opened their mouth against us.
47 Strach a jáma potkala nás, zpuštění a setření.
Fear and wrath are come upon us, suspense and destruction.
48 Potokové vod tekou z očí mých pro potření dcery lidu mého.
Mine eye shall pour down torrents of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
49 Oči mé slzí bez přestání, proto že není žádného odtušení,
PHE. Mine eye is drowned [with tears], and I will not be silent, so that there shall be no rest,
50 Ažby popatřil a shlédl Hospodin s nebe.
until the Lord look down, and behold from heaven.
51 Oči mé rmoutí duši mou pro všecky dcery města mého.
Mine eye shall prey upon my soul, because of all the daughters of the city.
52 Loviliť jsou mne ustavičně, jako ptáče, nepřátelé moji bez příčiny.
TSADE. The fowlers chased me as a sparrow, all mine enemies destroyed my life in a pit without cause,
53 Uvrhli do jámy život můj, a přimetali mne kamením.
and laid a stone upon me.
54 Rozvodnily se vody nad hlavou mou, řekl jsem: Jižtě po mně.
Water flowed over my head: I said, I am cut off.
55 Vzývám jméno tvé, ó Hospodine, z jámy nejhlubší.
KOPH. I called upon your name, O Lord, out of the lowest dungeon.
56 Hlas můj vyslýchával jsi; nezacpávejž ucha svého před vzdycháním mým a voláním mým.
You heard my voice: close not your ears to my supplication.
57 V ten den, v němž jsem tě vzýval, přicházeje, říkávals: Neboj se.
You drew near to my help: in the day wherein I called upon you you said to me, Fear not.
58 Pane, zasazuje se o při duše mé, vysvobozoval jsi život můj.
RECHS. O Lord, you has pleaded the causes of my soul; you has redeemed my life.
59 Vidíš, ó Hospodine, převrácenost, kteráž se mně děje, dopomoziž mi k spravedlnosti.
You have seen, O Lord, my troubles: you have judged my cause.
60 Vidíš všecko vymstívání se jejich, všecky úklady jejich proti mně.
You have seen all their vengeance, [you have looked] on all their devices against me.
61 Slýcháš utrhání jejich, ó Hospodine, i všecky obmysly jejich proti mně,
CHSEN. You have heard their reproach [and] all their devices against me;
62 Řeči povstávajících proti mně, a přemyšlování jejich proti mně přes celý den.
the lips of them that rose up against me, and their plots against me all the day;
63 Pohleď, jak při sedání jejich i povstání jejich jsem písničkou jejich.
their sitting down and their rising up: look you upon their eyes.
64 Dej jim odplatu, Hospodine, podlé díla rukou jejich.
You will render them a recompense, O Lord, according to the works of their hands.
65 Dej jim zatvrdilé srdce a prokletí své na ně.
THAU. You will give them [as] a covering, the grief of my heart.
66 Stihej v prchlivosti, a vyhlaď je, ať nejsou pod nebem tvým.
You will persecute them in anger, and will consume them from under the heaven, O Lord.
