1 Protož povstali-li jste s Kristem, vrchních věcí hledejte, kdež Kristus na pravici Boží sedí.
If then ye were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is sitting on the right hand of God.
2 O svrchní věci pečujte, ne o zemské.
Set your mind on the things above, not on things on the earth.
3 Nebo zemřeli jste, a život váš skryt jest s Kristem v Bohu.
For ye died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God;
4 Když se pak ukáže Kristus, život náš, tehdy i vy ukážete se s ním v slávě.
when Christ, our life, shall be manifested, then will ye also be manifested with him in glory.
5 Protož mrtvěte oudy své zemské, smilstvo, nečistotu, chlipnost, žádost zlou, i lakomství, jenž jest modlám sloužení.
Make dead therefore your members which are upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, lust, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry;
6 Pro kteréž věci přichází hněv Boží na syny zpurné.
on account of which things cometh the wrath of God.
7 V kterýchž i vy někdy chodili jste, když jste živi byli v nich.
In which things ye also once walked, when ye lived in them;
8 Ale nyní složtež i vy všecko to, hněv, prchlivost, zlobivost, zlořečení, i mrzkomluvnost z úst svých.
but now put ye away all these, anger, wrath, malice, evil-speaking, filthy language out of your mouth.
9 Nelžete jedni na druhé, když jste svlékli s sebe starého člověka s skutky jeho,
Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds,
10 A oblékli toho nového, obnovujícího se k známosti, podlé obrazu toho, kterýž jej stvořil,
and have put on the new man, who is renewed unto knowledge after the image of him that created him;
11 Kdežto není Řek a Žid, obřízka a neobřízka, cizozemec a Scýta, služebník a svobodný, ale všecko a ve všech Kristus.
where there is no Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bondman, freeman; but Christ is all, and in all.
12 Protož oblectež se jako vyvolení Boží, svatí, a milí, v střeva milosrdenství, v dobrotivost, nízké o sobě smýšlení, krotkost, trpělivost,
Clothe yourselves, therefore, as the chosen of God, holy and beloved, with compassionate affections, kindness, lowliness of mind, meekness, long-suffering;
13 Snášejíce jeden druhého, a odpouštějíce sobě vespolek, měl-li by kdo proti komu žalobu. Jako i Kristus odpustil vám, tak i vy.
bearing with each other, and forgiving each other, if any one have a complaint against another; even as Christ freely forgave you, do ye also freely forgive;
14 Nadto pak nade všecko v lásku, kteráž jest svazek dokonalosti.
and over all these things put on the robe of love, which is the bond of perfectness;
15 A pokoj Boží vítěziž v srdcích vašich, k němuž i povoláni jste v jedno tělo; a buďtež vděčni.
and let the peace of Christ, to which ye were called in one body, rule in your hearts; and be ye thankful.
16 Slovo Kristovo přebývejž v vás bohatě se vší moudrostí, učíce a napomínajíce sebe vespolek žalmy, a zpěvy, a písničkami duchovními, s milostí zpívajíce v srdci svém Pánu.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, in grace singing in your hearts to God;
17 A všecko, cožkoli činíte v slovu neb v skutku, všecko čiňte ve jménu Pána Ježíše, díky činíce Bohu a Otci skrze něho.
and whatever ye do, in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God, the Father, through him.
18 Ženy poddány buďte mužům svým tak, jakž sluší, v Pánu.
Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
19 Muži milujte ženy své, a nemějte se přísně k nim.
Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
20 Dítky poslouchejte rodičů ve všem; nebo to jest dobře libé Pánu.
Children, obey your parents in all things; for this is well-pleasing in the Lord.
21 Otcové nepopouzejte k hněvivosti dítek svých, aby sobě nezoufaly.
Fathers, provoke not your children, lest they be discouraged.
22 Služebníci poslušni buďte ve všem pánů tělesných, ne na oko sloužíce, jako ti, jenž se usilují lidem líbiti, ale v sprostnosti srdce, bojíce se Boha.
Bond-servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eye-service, as men-pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing the Lord.
23 A všecko, což byste koli činili, z té duše čiňte, jako Pánu, a ne lidem,
Whatever ye do, do it from the heart, as to the Lord, and not to men,
24 Vědouce, že ode Pána vzíti máte odplatu dědictví; nebo Pánu Kristu sloužíte.
knowing that from the Lord ye will receive the recompense of the inheritance; serve Christ as your Lord.
25 Kdož by pak nepravost páchal, odměnu své nepravosti vezme. A neníť přijímání osob u Boha.
For he that doeth wrong, shall receive back the wrong which he hath done; and there is no respect of persons.
