And it came to pass at Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and spoke in such a manner that a great multitude, both of the Jews and of the Greeks, believed.
2 Ale kteříž z Židů nepovolní byli, ti zbouřili a zdráždili mysli pohanů proti bratřím.
But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the minds of the Gentiles, and filled them with malignity against the brethren.
3 I byli tu za dlouhý čas, svobodně mluvíce v Pánu, kterýž svědectví vydával slovu milosti své, a působil to, aby se dáli divové a zázrakové skrze ruce jejich.
They, however, staid there a considerable time, speaking boldly for the Lord; who gave attestation to the word of his grace, and granted signs and miracles to be done by their hands.
4 I rozdělilo se množství města, a jedni byli s Židy, jiní s apoštoly.
So the multitude of the city was divided; and some were with the Jews, and others with the Apostles.
But, as a violent attempt was made, both by the Gentiles and Jews, with their rulers, to assault and stone them;
6 Srozuměvše tomu, utekli do měst Lykaonitských, do Lystry a do Derben, a do toho okolí,
they, having received intelligence of it, fled to Lystra, and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the adjacent country:
7 A tu kázali evangelium.
and there they declared the glad tidings.
8 Muž pak nějaký v Lystře, nemocný na nohy, sedával, byv chromý z života matky své, kterýž nikdy nechodil.
Now, there was a certain man at Lystra, disabled in his feet; so lame, from his birth, that he had never walked.
9 Ten poslouchal Pavla mluvícího. Kterýž pohleděv naň, a vida, an věří, že uzdraven bude,
This man heard Paul speaking, who, fixing his eyes upon him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed;
I zchopil se a chodil.
said, with a loud voice, Stand upright on your feet. And he leaped up, and walked.
11 Zástupové pak viděvše, co učinil Pavel, pozdvihli hlasu svého, Lykaonitsky řkouce: Bohové připodobnivše se lidem, sstoupili k nám.
And the multitude, seeing what Paul had done, lifted up their voices, saying, in the Lycaonian language, The gods are descended to us in the likeness of men.
12 I nazvali Barnabáše Jupiterem, a Pavla Merkuriášem; nebo on mluvil slovo.
And Barnabas they called Jupiter, and Paul, Mercury, because he was the chief speaker.
And the priest of Jupiter, whose image was before the city, brought oxen, with garlands, to the gates; and would, with the multitude, have offered sacrifice to them.
14 To když uslyšeli apoštolé, Barnabáš a Pavel, roztrhše sukně své, vyběhli k zástupům, křičíce,
But the Apostles, Barnabas and Paul, hearing of it, rent their mantles, and ran in among the multitude, crying out,
15 A řkouce: Muži, což to činíte?
and saying, Men, why do you these things? We are your fellow-mortals, and are declaring the glad tidings to you, that you may turn from these vanities to the living God; who made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all living things which are in them:
16 Kterýž za předešlých věků všech pohanů nechával, aby chodili po cestách svých,
who, in former generations, permitted all the nations to walk in their own ways;
17 Ačkoli proto nenechal sebe bez osvědčení, dobře čině, dávaje nám s nebe déšť a časy úrodné, naplňuje pokrmem a potěšením srdce naše.
though he did not leave himself without witness, doing good, and giving us showers of rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.
18 A to mluvíce, sotva spokojili zástupy, aby jim neobětovali.
And, saying these things, they, with difficulty, restrained the people from sacrificing to them.
But Jews came thither from Antioch and Iconium, and persuaded the multitude; and having stoned Paul, they dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead.
20 A když jej obstoupili učedlníci, vstal, a všel do města, a nazejtří odšel s Barnabášem do Derben.
But, as the disciples were gathered about him, he rose up, and entered into the city; and the next day he departed, with Barnabas, to Derbe.
21 A kázavše evangelium městu tomu, a učedlníků mnoho získavše, navrátili se do Lystry a do Ikonie a do Antiochie,
And having declared the gospel to that city, and made a considerable number of disciples; they returned to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch,
22 Potvrzujíce duší učedlníků, a napomínajíce, aby trvali u víře, a že musíme skrze mnohá ssoužení vjíti do království Božího.
confirming the souls of the disciples; exhorting them to continue in the faith, and testifying that it is necessary we should enter into the kingdom of God through many tribulations.
And when they had constituted elders for them, in every congregation, having prayed to God, with fasting; they committed them to the Lord, in whom they had believed.
24 A prošedše Pisidii, přišli do Pamfylie,
And passing through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.
25 A mluvivše slovo v Pergen, šli do Attalie.
And having spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.
26 A odtud plavili se do Antiochie, odkudž poručeni byli milosti Boží k dílu, kteréž vykonali.
And they sailed thence to Antioch, whence they had been recommended to the grace of God, for that work which they had accomplished.
27 A když tam přišli, a shromáždili církev, vypravovali, kteraké věci Bůh skrze ně učinil, a že otevřel pohanům dvéře víry.
And when they were come thither, and had gathered the congregation together, they related what God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.
28 I byli tu za nemalý čas s učedlníky.
And they spent a considerable time there with the disciples.
