1 Timoteovi 5
1 Staršího netresci, ale napomínej jako otce, mladších jako bratří,
An elderly man, do not thou reprimand, but beseech him, as [though he were thy] father, —younger men, as brothers,
2 Starých žen jako matek, mladic jako sestr, ve vší čistotě.
Elderly women, as mothers, younger women, as sisters, in all chastity.
3 Vdovy měj v poctivosti, kteréž pravé vdovy jsou.
Widows, honour thou—who indeed are widows: —
4 Pakli která vdova dítky neb vnuky má, nechažť se učí předně k svému domu pobožnosti dokazovati, a zase rodičům se odplacovati; neboť jest to chvalitebné a vzácné před oblíčejem Božím.
Howbeit, if, any widow, hath, children or grandchildren, let them be learning—first, unto their own house, to be shewing reverence, and, returns, to be making unto their progenitors; for, this, is acceptable before God;
5 Kteráž pak právě vdova jest a osamělá, máť naději v Bohu, a trváť na modlitbách a svatých žádostech dnem i nocí.
But, she who is indeed a widow, and is left alone, hath turned her hope towards God, and is giving attendance unto the supplications and the prayers, night and day, —
6 Ale rozkošná, živa jsuci, již umřela.
Whereas, she that runneth riot, while living, is, dead:
7 Protož to přikaž, ať jsou bez úhony.
And, these things, be giving in charge, that, without reproach, they may be;
8 Jestliže pak kdo o své, a zvláště o domácí péče nemá, zapřelť víry, a jest horší než nevěřící.
If, however, anyone, for his own, and specially them of his household, taketh not forethought, his faith, hath he denied, and is worse, than one without faith!
9 Vdova buď vyvolena, kteráž by neměla méně šedesáti let, kteráž byla jednoho muže manželka,
Let, a widow, be put on the list—having become, not less than sixty years old, one man’s, wife,
10 O níž by svědectví bylo, že dobré skutky činila, jestliže dítky vychovala, jestliže do domu pocestné přijímala, jestliže svatým nohy umývala, jestliže bídným posluhovala, jestliže každého skutku dobrého pilna byla.
In noble works, being well-attested; —if she hath nourished children, if she hath shewn hospitality, if, saints feet, she hath washed, if, them who were in tribulation, she hath succoured, if, in every good, work she hath followed on:
11 Ale mladých vdov nepřijímej; nebo když, nedbajíce na Krista, v chlipnost se vydadí, vdávati se chtějí,
But, younger widows, decline thou; for, as soon as they wax wanton against the Christ, to marry, are they determined, —
12 Jsouce již hodné potupení, proto že první víru zrušily.
Having, as sentence, —that, their first faith, they have set at nought;
13 Nýbrž také jsouce i zahálevé, učí se choditi po domích; a netoliko zahálevé, ale i klevetné a všetečné, mluvíce, což nesluší.
At the same time, to be idlers, are they learning, going about from house to house; and, not only idlers, but, gossips, also, and, busybodies, —saying the things they ought not,
14 Protož chci, aby se mladší vdávaly, děti rodily, hospodyně byly, a žádné příčiny protivníku nedávaly ku pomlouvání.
I am minded, therefore, that, the younger ones, marry, bear children, be mistress of the house, —giving, no single occasion, unto the opposer, as a cause, of reviling;
15 Nebo již se některé uchýlily zpět po satanu.
For, already, some have turned aside after Satan:
16 Protož má-liť kdo věřící neb která věřící vdovy, opatrujž je, a nebuď obtěžována církev, aby těm, kteréž právě vdovy jsou, postačilo.
If any, believing woman, hath widows, let her be giving them succour, and not suffer the assembly to be burdened, —that, them who are indeed widows, it may itself succour.
17 Předložení, kteříž dobře spravují, dvojí cti hodni jmíni buďte, zvláště ti, kteříž pracují v slovu a v učení.
Let, the well presiding elders, of double honour, be accounted worthy, especially they who toil in discourse and teaching;
18 Nebo praví písmo: Volu mlátícímu nezavížeš úst. A hodenť jest dělník své mzdy.
For the scripture saith—A threshing ox, shalt thou not muzzle, and—Worthy, is the workman, of his hire.
19 Proti staršímu žaloby nepřijímej, leč pode dvěma neb třmi svědky.
Against an elder, entertain not, an accusation, except at, [the mouth of] two, or three, witnesses;
20 Ty pak, kteříž hřeší, přede všemi tresci, aby i jiní bázeň měli.
But, them who are sinning, before all, do thou reprove, that, the rest also, may have, fear: —
21 Osvědčujiť před oblíčejem Božím, a Pána Jezukrista, i vyvolených andělů, abys těchto věcí ostříhal bez přijímání osob, nic nečině podlé náchylnosti.
I adjure thee, before God, and Christ Jesus, and the chosen messengers, that, these things, thou observe, apart from prejudgment, doing, nothing, by partiality.
22 Nevzkládej rukou rychle na žádného, a neobcuj hříchům cizím. Sebe samého ostříhej v čistotě.
Hands, suddenly, upon no one, lay, neither have fellowship with sins of strangers: thyself, keep, chaste: —
23 Nepí již více vody, ale vína skrovně užívej, pro svůj žaludek a časté nemoci své.
No longer, be a water-drinker, but, of a little wine, make use, because of thy stomach and thy, frequent, sicknesses.
24 Některých lidí hříchové prvé zjevní jsou, předcházející soud, některých pak i následují.
Some men’s sins, are, openly evident, leading on into judgment, with some, however, they even follow after;
25 A takž také i skutkové dobří prvé zjevní jsou. Což pak jest jinak, ukryti se nemůže.
In the same way, the noble works also, are openly evident, —and, they that are otherwise, cannot be hid.
