1 Petr, apoštol Ježíše Krista, příchozím rozptýleným v Pontu, Galacii, Kappadocii, v Azii, a v Bitynii,
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2 Vyvoleným podlé předzvědění Boha Otce, v posvěcení Ducha, ku poslušenství a skropení krví Ježíše Krista: Milost vám a pokoj rozmnožen buď.
Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, (pneuma) unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
3 Požehnaný Bůh a Otec Pána našeho Ježíše Krista, kterýž podlé mnohého milosrdenství svého znovu zplodil nás v naději živou skrze vzkříšení Ježíše Krista z mrtvých,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy has begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 K dědictví neporušitelnému a nepoškvrněnému a neuvadlému, kteréž se chová v nebesích, vám,
To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Kteříž mocí Boží ostříháni býváte skrze víru k spasení, kteréž hotovo jest, aby zjeveno bylo v času posledním.
Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 V čemžto veselíte se, maličko nyní, (jestliže kdy potřebí jest, ) zkormouceni jsouce v rozličných pokušeních,
Wherein all of you greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, all of you are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 Aby zkušení víry vaší, mnohem dražší nežli zlato, kteréž hyne, a však se v ohni zkušuje, nalezeno bylo vám k chvále, a ke cti i k slávě při zjevení Ježíše Krista.
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Kteréhož neviděvše, milujete; kteréhož nyní nevidouce, a však v něho věříce, veselíte se radostí nevymluvnou a oslavenou,
Whom having not seen, all of you love; in whom, though now all of you see him not, yet believing, all of you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9 Docházejíce konce víry své, spasení duší.
Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10 O kterémž spasení bedlivě přemyšlovali, a je vystihati usilovali proroci, kteříž o té milosti, kteráž se vám státi měla, prorokovali,
Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
11 Vystihajíce to, na který aneb jaký čas mínil by ten, kterýž v nich byl, Duch Kristův, předpovídající o utrpeních Kristových a o veliké za tím slávě.
Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit (pneuma) of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12 Kterýmžto zjeveno jest, že ne sobě, ale nám tím přisluhovali, což jest vám nyní zvěstováno skrze ty, kteříž vám kázali evangelium, v Duchu svatém seslaném s nebe, na kteréž věci žádostivi jsou andělé patřiti.
Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Spirit (pneuma) sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
13 Protož přepášíce bedra mysli své, a střízlivi jsouce, dokonale doufejte v té milosti, kteráž vám dána bude při zjevení Ježíše Krista,
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 Jakožto synové poslušní, nepřirovnávající se prvním neznámosti své žádostem.
As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 Ale jakž ten, kterýž vás povolal, svatý jest, i vy svatí ve všem obcování buďte;
But as he which has called you is holy, so be all of you holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Jakož napsáno jest: Svatí buďte, nebo já svatý jsem.
Because it is written, Be all of you holy; for I am holy.
17 A poněvadž Otcem nazýváte toho, kterýž bez přijímání osob soudí vedlé skutků jednoho každého, viztež, abyste v bázni čas svého zde putování konali,
And if all of you call on the Father, who without respect of persons judges according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18 Vědouce, že ne porušitelnými věcmi, stříbrem neb zlatem, vykoupeni jste z marného svého obcování toho, od otců vydaného,
Forasmuch as all of you know that all of you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 Ale drahou krví jakožto Beránka nevinného a nepoškvrněného, Krista,
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Předzvěděného zajisté před ustanovením světa, zjeveného pak v časích posledních pro vás,
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21 Kteříž skrze něho věříte v Boha, jenž jej vzkřísil z mrtvých, a dal jemu slávu, aby víra vaše a naděje byla v Bohu.
Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22 Poněvadž duše své očistili jste poslušenstvím pravdy skrze Ducha, k milování neošemetnému bratrstva, z čistého srdce jedni druhé milujte snažně,
Seeing all of you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit (pneuma) unto sincere love of the brethren, see that all of you love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 Znovu zrozeni jsouce ne z porušitelného semene, ale z neporušitelného, skrze živé slovo Boží a zůstávající na věky. (aiōn g165)
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word (logos) of God, which lives and abides for ever. (aiōn g165)
24 Nebo všeliké tělo jest jako tráva, a všeliká sláva člověka jako květ trávy. Usvadla tráva, a květ její spadl.
For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower thereof falls away:
