1 Istinu govorim u Kristu, ne lažem; susvjedok mi je savjest moja u Duhu Svetom:
I say the truth in Meshiha, and lie not; my conscience witnesseth for me in the Spirit of Holiness,
2 silna mi je tuga i neprekidna bol u srcu.
that I have great grief, and (that) the sorrow of my heart ceaseth not.
3 Da, htio bih ja sam proklet biti, odvojen od Krista, za braću svoju, sunarodnjake svoje po tijelu.
For I could pray that I myself might be one accursed from Meshiha instead of my brethren and my kinsmen who are in the flesh;
4 Oni su Izraelci, njihovo je posinstvo, i Slava, i Savezi, i zakonodavstvo, i bogoštovlje, i obećanja;
who are the sons of Israel, and whose was the adoption of sons, and the glory, and the covenants, and the law, and the ministry, and the promises,
5 njihovi su i oci, od njih je, po tijelu, i Krist, koji je iznad svega, Bog blagoslovljen u vjekove. Amen. (aiōn g165)
and the fathers; and from whom appeared the Meshiha in the flesh, who is Aloha over all: his be praises and benedictions to the age of ages. Amen. (aiōn g165)
6 Ali ne kao da se izjalovila riječ Božja. Jer nisu Izrael svi koji potječu od Izraela;
FOR the word of Aloha hath not really fallen: for not all who are of Israel are Israel;
7 i nisu svi djeca Abrahamova zato što su njegovo potomstvo, nego po Izaku će ti se nazivati potomstvo;
neither also are they who are of the seed of Abraham all children; because it was said, In Ishok shall be called unto thee the seed:
8 to jest: djeca tijela nisu i djeca Božja, nego - djeca obećanja računaju se u potomstvo.
but that is, the children of the flesh are not the children of Aloha, but the children of the promise are reckoned the seed.
9 Evo doista riječi obećanja: U ovo ću doba doći i Sara će imati sina.
For the promise is this word, In this time I will come, and a son shall be unto Sara.
10 Ali ne samo to! I Rebeka je s jednim, s Izakom, ocem našim, zanijela.
And not this only, but also Raphka when with one, our father Ishok, she had association,
11 Pa kad još blizanci ne bijahu rođeni niti učiniše što dobro ili zlo - da bi trajnom ostala odluka Božja o izabranju:
before her sons were born, and had not wrought good or evil, the (choice) of Aloha was (made) known before that it should remain: not by works, but by him who called:
12 ne po djelima, nego po onome tko poziva - rečeno joj je: Stariji će služiti mlađemu,
for it was said, The elder shall be servant to the less;
13 kako je pisano: Jakova sam zavolio, a Ezav mi omrznu.
as it is written, Jakub have I loved, and Isu have I hated.
14 Što ćemo dakle reći? Možda da u Boga ima nepravde? Nipošto!
What then say we? Is there iniquity with Aloha? Not so:
15 Ta Mojsiju veli: Smilovat ću se komu hoću da se smilujem; sažalit ću se nad kim hoću da se sažalim.
behold, also, he said unto Musha, I will have mercy upon whom I will have mercy, and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious.
16 Nije dakle do onoga koji hoće ni do onoga koji trči, nego do Boga koji se smiluje.
Therefore it is not by him who willeth, nor by him who runneth, but by Aloha the Merciful.
17 Jer Pismo veli faraonu: Zato te upravo podigoh da na tebi pokažem svoju moć i da se razglasi ime moje po svoj zemlji.
For it is said in the scripture to Pherun, For this I have raised thee up, that I might show in thee my power, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.
18 Tako dakle: smiluje se komu hoće, a otvrdnjuje koga hoće.
Then upon whom he willeth he is merciful, and whom he willeth he hardeneth.
19 Da, reći ćeš mi: Što se onda još tuži? Ta tko se to volji njegovoj odupro?
Perhaps thou wilt say, Of what then doth he complain; for who shall arise against his will?
20 Čovječe, tko si ti zapravo da se pravdaš s Bogom? Zar da djelo rekne tvorcu: “Što si me ovakvim načinio?”
Who then art thou, O man, who givest answer against Aloha? Will the mass say to him who formeth it, Why thus hast thou formed me?
21 Ili zar lončar nema vlasti nad glinom da od istoga tijesta načini posudu sad časnu, sad nečasnu.
Or, hath not the potter power over his clay, that from the (same) mass he might make vessels, the one to honour, and the other to vileness?
22 A što ako je Bog, hoteći očitovati gnjev i obznaniti svoju moć u silnoj strpljivosti podnosio posude gnjeva, dozrele za propast,
BUT if Aloha, willing to reveal his wrath, and to make known his power, in his much patience bore with the vessels of wrath who were perfected for destruction,
23 da obznani bogatstvo slave svoje na posudama milosrđa, koje unaprijed pripravi za slavu,
and poured his mercy upon the vessels of mercy who were prepared of Aloha for glory,
24 na nama koje pozva ne samo između Židova nego i između pogana?
who are we, (ourselves) the called, not only of the Jihudoyee, but also of the Gentiles:
25 Tako i u Hošeji veli: Ne-narod moj prozvat ću narodom mojim i Neljubljenu ljubljenom.
so also in Husha he said, I will call them my people who were not my people, and on those on whom I was not merciful, will I be merciful:
26 Na mjestu gdje im je rečeno: Vi niste moj narod prozvat će se sinovi Boga živoga.
for it shall be in the place where they were not called my people, there shall they be called the children of Aloha the Living.
27 Izaija pak proglasuje o Izraelu: Zaista, sinova će Izraelovih brojem biti kao pijeska morskog - Ostatak će se spasiti;
But Eshaia proclaims of the sons of Israel: Though the number of the sons of Israel were as the sand which is on the sea, the residue of them shall be saved.
28 jer riječ će ispuniti i uskoro izvršiti Gospodin na zemlji.
The Lord hath decreed and determined the word, and will perform it upon the earth.
29 Tako je Izaija i prorekao: Da nam Gospodin nad Vojskama ne ostavi sjeme, ko Sodoma bismo bili i Gomori nalik.
And as that which Eshaia had said before: Unless the Lord of sebaoth had left to us a residue, as Sedum should we have been, and to Amura have been likened.
30 Što ćemo dakle reći? Da pogani koji nisu tražili pravednosti stekoše pravednost, pravednost po vjeri.
WHAT then shall we say? That the Gentiles who have not followed after righteousness have attained righteousness, but that righteousness which is of faith:
31 Izrael pak koji je tražio neki zakon pravednosti, nije do zakona dopro.
but Israel, who followed after the law of righteousness, unto the law of righteousness have not attained.
32 Zašto? Jer nije tražio po vjeri, nego kao po djelima. Spotakoše se o kamen spoticanja,
For why? Because it was not by faith, but by the works of the law: for they stumbled at the stone of stumbling;
33 kao što je pisano: Evo postavljam na Sionu kamen spoticanja i stijenu posrtanja. Ali tko u nj vjeruje, neće se postidjeti.
as it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling And a rock of offence; And whosoever in him shall believe Shall not be ashamed.
