1 Hodočasnička pjesma. Davidova. Da nije Jahve za nas bio - neka slobodno rekne Izrael -

A Song of Ascents. David’s. If it had not been, Yahweh, who was on our side, oh might Israel say:

2 da nije Jahve za nas bio: kad se ljudi digoše proti nama,

If it had not been, Yahweh, who was on our side, when men rose up against us,

3 žive bi nas progutali. Kad je uskipio bijes njihov na nas,

Then, alive, had they swallowed us up, in the glow of their anger against us;

4 voda bi nas podavila; bujica bi nas odnijela,

Then, the waters, had whelmed us, the torrent, gone over our soul;

5 vode pobješnjele sve nas potopile.

Then, had gone over our soul the waters so proud!

6 Blagoslovljen Jahve koji nas ne dade za plijen zubima njihovim!

Blessed, be Yahweh, who gave us not as prey to their teeth.

7 Duša je naša poput ptice umakla iz zamke lovaca: raskinula se zamka, a mi umakosmo!

Our soul, as a bird, hath escaped from the snare of the fowlers, The snare, is broken, and, we, are escaped:

8 Pomoć je naša u imenu Jahve koji stvori nebo i zemlju.

Our help, is in the Name of Yahweh, who made heaven and earth.
