Jošua 10
1 A kad ču jeruzalemski kralj Adoni-Sedek da je Jošua zauzeo Aj i da ga je izručio “heremu”, kletom uništenju, kao što je učinio s Jerihonom i njegovim kraljem, i da su stanovnici Gibeona učinili mir s Izraelom i uključili se među njih,
And it comes to pass, when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem hears that Joshua has captured Ai, and devotes it (as he had done to Jericho and to her king so he has done to Ai and to her king), and that the inhabitants of Gibeon have made peace with Israel, and are in their midst—
2 vrlo se uplaši, jer je Gibeon bio značajan kao kakav kraljevski grad, veći od Aja, a svi žitelji njegovi bijahu ratnici.
that they are greatly afraid, because Gibeon [is] a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it [is] greater than Ai, and all its men [are] heroes.
3 Zato jeruzalemski kralj Adoni-Sedek poruči Hohamu, kralju hebronskom, Piramu, kralju jarmutskom, Jafiji, kralju lakiškom, i Debiru, kralju eglonskom:
And Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sends to Hoham king of Hebron, and to Piram king of Jarmuth, and to Japhia king of Lachish, and to Debir king of Eglon, saying,
4 “Dođite k meni i pomozite mi da udarimo na Gibeon, jer je učinio mir s Jošuom i Izraelcima!”
“Come up to me, and help me, and we strike Gibeon, for it has made peace with Joshua, and with the sons of Israel.”
5 Udruži se tada pet kraljeva amorejskih: kralj jeruzalemski, kralj hebronski, kralj jarmutski, kralj lakiški i kralj eglonski; krenu oni i sva njihova vojska, opsjednu grad Gibeon i počnu ga napadati.
And five kings of the Amorite (the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon) are gathered together, and go up, they and all their camps, and encamp against Gibeon, and fight against it.
6 Tada Gibeonci poručiše Jošui u tabor u Gilgalu: “Ne napuštaj svojih slugu, nego se požuri k nama da nas izbaviš i da nam pomogneš, jer su se protiv nas udružili svi amorejski kraljevi koji žive u Gorju.”
And the men of Gibeon send to Joshua, to the camp at Gilgal, saying, “Do not let your hand cease from your servants; come up to us [with] haste, and give safety to us, and help us; for all the kings of the Amorite, dwelling in the hill-country, have been assembled against us.”
7 I pođe Jošua iz Gilgala, a s njim i svi ratnici, sve vrsni junaci.
And Joshua goes up from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, even all the mighty men of valor.
8 A Jahve reče Jošui: “Ne boj se! Ja sam ih predao u tvoje ruke i nijedan od njih neće se održati pred tobom.”
And YHWH says to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for I have given them into your hand, there does not stand a man of them in your presence.”
9 I udari na njih Jošua iznenadno, pošto je svu noć išao od Gilgala.
And Joshua comes to them suddenly (all the night he has gone up from Gilgal),
10 I smete ih Jahve pred Izraelcima, koji ih teško poraziše kod Gibeona i potjeraše prema strmini kojom se uzlazi u Bet-Horon. Tukli su ih sve do Azeke i do Makede.
and YHWH crushes them before Israel, and strikes them [with] a great striking at Gibeon, and pursues them the way of the ascent of Beth-Horon, and strikes them to Azekah, and to Makkedah.
11 A dok su bježali pred Izraelom uz bethoronsku strminu, bacao je Jahve s neba na njih tuču kamenja sve do Azeke te su ginuli. I poginulo ih je više od tuče kamene nego što su ih pobili sinovi Izraelovi svojim mačevima.
And it comes to pass, in their fleeing from the face of Israel—they [are] in the descent of Beth-Horon—and YHWH has cast great stones on them out of the heavens, to Azekah, and they die; more are they who have died by the hailstones than they whom the sons of Israel have slain by the sword.
12 Onoga dana kada Jahve predade Amorejce sinovima Izraelovim, obrati se Jošua Jahvi i poviče pred Izraelcima: “Stani, sunce, iznad Gibeona, i mjeseče, iznad dola Ajalona!”
Then Joshua speaks to YHWH in the day of YHWH’s giving up the Amorites before the sons of Israel, and he says before the eyes of Israel, “Sun—stand still in Gibeon; and moon—in the Valley of Ajalon”;
13 I stade sunce i zaustavi se mjesec sve dok se nije narod osvetio neprijateljima svojim. Ne piše li to u knjizi Pravednika? I stade sunce nasred neba i nije se nagnulo k zapadu gotovo cio dan.
and the sun stands still, and the moon has stood—until the nation takes vengeance [on] its enemies; is it not written on the Scroll of the Upright, “and the sun stands in the midst of the heavens, and has not hurried to go in—as a perfect day?”
14 Nije bilo takva dana ni prije ni poslije da bi se Jahve odazvao glasu čovječjem. Tako je Jahve vojevao za Izraela.
And there has not been like that day before it or after it, for YHWH’s listening to the voice of a man; for YHWH is fighting for Israel.
15 Potom se vrati Jošua i sav Izrael s njim u tabor gilgalski.
And Joshua turns back, and all Israel with him, to the camp at Gilgal.
16 A onih pet kraljeva uteče i sakri se u pećinu kod Makede.
And these five kings flee, and are hidden in a cave at Makkedah,
17 Javiše Jošui: “Otkriveno je pet kraljeva sakrivenih u pećini kod Makede.”
and it is declared to Joshua, saying, “The five kings have been found hidden in a cave at Makkedah.”
18 A Jošua reče: “Navalite veliko kamenje pećini na otvor i postavite ljude pred nju da je čuvaju.
And Joshua says, “Roll great stones to the mouth of the cave, and appoint men over it to watch them;
19 A vi se drugi ne zadržavajte, nego tjerajte svoje neprijatelje i tucite ih s leđa; ne dajte im da uđu u svoje gradove, jer ih Jahve, Bog vaš, predade u vaše ruke.”
and you, do not stand, pursue after your enemies, and you have struck them from the rear; do not permit them to go into their cities, for your God YHWH has given them into your hand.”
20 A kad Jošua i sinovi Izraelovi okončaše bitku teškim pokoljem - utekla im je samo nekolicina preživjelih u tvrde gradove -
And it comes to pass, when Joshua and the sons of Israel finish to strike them [with] a very great striking until they are consumed, and the remnant who have remained of them go into the fortified cities,
21 vrati se narod zdrav i čitav k Jošui u tabor u Makedi. I nitko više ni da pisne protiv sinova Izraelovih.
that all the people return to the camp, to Joshua, [at] Makkedah, in peace; none moved his tongue sharply against the sons of Israel.
22 Tada reče Jošua: “Otvorite ulaz u pećinu i odande mi izvedite onih pet kraljeva.”
And Joshua says, “Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out to me these five kings from the cave”;
23 I učine tako, izvedu k njemu iz pećine onih pet kraljeva: kralja jeruzalemskoga, kralja hebronskoga, kralja jarmutskoga, kralja lakiškog i kralja eglonskog.
and they do so, and bring out to him these five kings from the cave: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon.
24 A kad ih izvedoše, pozva Jošua sve Izraelce i reče vojskovođama koji su ga pratili: “Priđite i stanite svojim nogama na vratove ovih kraljeva.” Oni pristupe i stanu im svojim nogama na vratove.
And it comes to pass, when they bring out these kings to Joshua, that Joshua calls to every man of Israel, and says to the captains of the men of war, who have gone with him, “Draw near, set your feet on the necks of these kings”; and they draw near, and set their feet on their necks.
25 Reče Jošua: “Ne bojte se i ne plašite se! Hrabri budite i odlučni, jer će tako Jahve učiniti sa svim vašim neprijateljima s kojima se budete borili.”
And Joshua says to them, “Do not fear, nor be frightened; be strong and courageous; for thus does YHWH do to all your enemies with whom you are fighting”;
26 Potom Jošua naredi da ih pogube i objese na pet stabala; i visjeli su ondje do večeri.
and Joshua strikes them afterward, and puts them to death, and hangs them on five trees; and they are hanging on the trees until the evening.
27 A o zalasku sunčanom zapovjedi Jošua te ih skidoše s drveća i baciše u istu onu pećinu u koju se bijahu sklonili te na otvor navališe golemo kamenje, koje je i danas ondje.
And it comes to pass, at the time of the going in of the sun, Joshua has commanded, and they take them down from off the trees, and cast them into the cave where they had been hid, and put great stones on the mouth of the cave until this very day.
28 Istoga dana zauze Jošua Makedu: udari na grad oštricom mača i pogubi kralja njegova i sve živo u gradu izruči “heremu”, kletom uništenju, ne puštajući da itko utekne. I učini s kraljem makedskim kao što je učinio s kraljem jerihonskim.
And Joshua has captured Makkedah on that day, and he strikes it by the mouth of the sword, and he has devoted its king, them and every person who [is] in it—he has not left a remnant; and he does to the king of Makkedah as he did to the king of Jericho.
29 Ode zatim Jošua i sav Izrael iz Makede u Libnu i udari na nju.
And Joshua passes over, and all Israel with him, from Makkedah [to] Libnah, and fights with Libnah;
30 I nju Jahve i njena kralja predade u ruke Izraelu, koji oštricom mača pobi sve živo u njoj; ne poštedje nikoga, a s kraljem Libne učini što i s kraljem jerihonskim.
and YHWH also gives it into the hand of Israel, and its king, and [Joshua] strikes it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who [is] in it—he does not leave a remnant in it; and he does to its king as he did to the king of Jericho.
31 Potom ode Jošua i svi Izraelci iz Libne u Lakiš, opsjede ga i napade.
And Joshua passes over, and all Israel with him, from Libnah to Lachish, and encamps against it, and fights against it.
32 Jahve predade Lakiš u ruke Izraela, koji ga osvoji sutradan: pobiše oštricom mača sve živo u njemu, onako kao što su učinili s Libnom.
And YHWH gives Lachish into the hand of Israel, and [Joshua] captures it on the second day, and strikes it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who [is] in it, according to all that he did to Libnah.
33 Tada ustade Horam, kralj Gezera, da pomogne Lakišu, ali Jošua porazi njega i njegov narod tako te nitko ne preživje.
Then Horam king of Gezer has come up to help Lachish, and Joshua strikes him and his people, until he has not left a remnant to him.
34 Jošua krenu zatim sa svim Izraelcima od Lakiša na Eglon. Opsjedoše grad i napadoše ga.
And Joshua passes over, and all Israel with him, from Lachish to Eglon, and they encamp against it, and fight against it,
35 Osvojiše ga još istoga dana i pobiše sve oštricom mača. Sve živo izručiše kletom uništenju, kako su učinili s Lakišem.
and capture it on that day, and strike it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who [is] in it he has devoted on that day, according to all that he did to Lachish.
36 Onda Jošua sa svim Izraelom krenu od Eglona na Hebron i napade ga.
And Joshua goes up, and all Israel with him, from Eglon to Hebron, and they fight against it,
37 Osvojiše ga i pobiše sve oštricom mača, kralja i stanovništvo u svim mjestima koja mu pripadaju, ne poštedjevši nikoga. Učini s njime kao s Eglonom. Grad sa svim svojim stanovništvom bi izručen kletom uništenju.
and capture it, and strike it by the mouth of the sword, and its king, and all its cities, and every person who [is] in it—he has not left a remnant—according to all that he did to Eglon—and devotes it, and every person who [is] in it.
38 Napokon krenu Jošua i sav Izrael s njim na Debir i napadoše ga.
And Joshua turns back, and all Israel with him, to Debir, and fights against it,
39 Osvojiše ga i razoriše; kralja njegova i žitelje okolnih mjesta pobiše oštricom mača. Kletom uništenju izručiše sve njegovo stanovništvo. Ne poštedješe nikoga. I učini Jošua s Debirom i njegovim kraljem kao što je učinio s Hebronom i njegovim kraljem, s Libnom i njezinim kraljem.
and captures it, and its king, and all its cities, and they strike them by the mouth of the sword, and devote every person who [is] in it—he has not left a remnant; as he did to Hebron so he did to Debir, and to its king, and as he did to Libnah, and to its king.
40 Tako je Jošua zauzeo sav onaj kraj: Gorje i Negeb, Šefelu i Visočje - i sve njihove kraljeve. Ne ostavi preživjelih, već izruči kletom uništenju sve što je disalo, kako je zapovjedio Jahve, Bog Izraelov.
And Joshua strikes all the land of the hill-country, and of the south, and of the low-country, and of the springs, and all their kings—he has not left a remnant, and he has devoted all that breathe, as YHWH, God of Israel, commanded.
41 I pobi ih Jošua sve od Kadeš Barnee do Gaze i sav kraj Gošen do Gibeona.
And Joshua strikes them from Kadesh-Barnea, even to Gaza, and all the land of Goshen, even to Gibeon;
42 Sve tamošnje kraljeve i zemlje njihove zauze Jošua ujedanput, jer se za Izraela borio Jahve, Bog Izraelov.
and Joshua has captured all these kings and their land [at] one time, for YHWH, God of Israel, is fighting for Israel.
43 Naposljetku se Jošua i sav Izrael vratiše u tabor u Gilgalu.
And Joshua turns back, and all Israel with him, to the camp at Gilgal.
