Job 21
1 Job progovori i reče:
And Job answers and says:
2 “Slušajte, slušajte dobro što ću reći, utjehu mi takvu barem udijelite.
“Hear my word diligently, And this is your consolation.
3 Otrpite da riječ jednu ja izrečem, kad završim, tad se rugajte slobodno.
Bear with me, and I speak, And after my speaking—you may deride.
4 Zar protiv čovjeka dižem ja optužbu? Kako da strpljenje onda ne izgubim?
[Is] my complaint [against] man? And if [so], why may my temper not become short?
5 Pogledajte na me: užas će vas spopast', rukom ćete svoja zakloniti usta;
Turn to me, and be astonished, And put hand to mouth.
6 pomislim li na to, prestravim se i sam i čitavim svojim tad protrnem tijelom.
Indeed, if I have remembered, then I have been troubled. And my flesh has taken fright.
7 Zašto na životu ostaju zlikovci i, što su stariji, moćniji bivaju?
Why do the wicked live? They have become old, Indeed, they have been mighty in wealth.
8 Potomstvo njihovo s njima napreduje a izdanci im se množe pred očima.
Their seed is established, Before their face with them, And their offspring before their eyes.
9 Strah nikakav kuće njihove ne mori i šiba ih Božja ostavlja na miru.
Their houses [are] peace without fear, Nor [is] a rod of God on them.
10 Njihovi bikovi plode pouzdano, krave im se tele i ne jalove se.
His bullock breeds without fail. His cow brings forth safely, and does not miscarry.
11 K'o jagnjad djeca im slobodno skakuću, veselo igraju njihovi sinovi.
They send forth their sucklings as a flock, And their children skip,
12 Oni pjevaju uz harfe i bubnjeve i vesele se uz zvukove svirale.
They lift [themselves] up at timbrel and harp, And rejoice at the sound of a pipe.
They wear out their days in good, And in a moment go down [to] Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
14 A govorili su Bogu: 'Ostavi nas, ne želimo znati za tvoje putove!
And they say to God, Turn aside from us, And the knowledge of Your ways We have not desired.
15 TÓa tko je Svesilni da njemu služimo i kakva nam korist da ga zazivamo?'
What [is] the Mighty One that we serve Him? And what do we profit when we meet with Him?
16 Zar svoju sreću u ruci ne imahu, makar do Njega ne drže ništa oni?
Behold, their good [is] not in their hand (The counsel of the wicked Has been far from me).
17 Zar se luč opakog kada ugasila? Zar se na njega oborila nesreća? Zar mu u gnjevu svom On skroji sudbinu?
How often is the lamp of the wicked extinguished, And their calamity comes on them? He apportions pangs in His anger.
18 Zar je kao slama na vjetru postao, kao pljeva koju vihor svud raznosi?
They are as straw before wind, And as chaff a windstorm has stolen away,
19 Hoće l' ga kaznit' Bog u njegovoj djeci? Ne, njega nek' kazni da sam to osjeti!
God lays up for his sons his sorrow, He gives repayment to him—and he knows.
20 Vlastitim očima nek' rasap svoj vidi, neka se napije srdžbe Svesilnoga!
His own eyes see his destruction, And he drinks of the wrath of the Mighty.
21 TÓa što poslije smrti on za dom svoj mari kad će se presjeć' niz njegovih mjeseci?
For what [is] his delight in his house after him, And the number of his months cut off?
22 Ali tko će Boga učiti mudrosti, njega koji sudi najvišim bićima?
Does [one] teach knowledge to God, Since He judges [those] on high?
23 Jedan umire u punom blagostanju, bez briga ikakvih, u potpunom miru,
This [one] dies in his perfect strength, Wholly at ease and quiet.
24 bokova od pretiline otežalih i kostiju sočne moždine prepunih.
His breasts have been full of milk, And marrow moistens his bones.
25 A drugi umire s gorčinom u duši, nikad nikakve ne okusivši sreće.
And this [one] dies with a bitter soul, And has not eaten with gladness.
26 Obojica leže zajedno u prahu, crvi ih jednako prekrivaju oba.
Together they lie down on the dust, And the worm covers them over.
27 O, znam dobro kakve vaše su namjere, kakve zlosti protiv mene vi snujete.
Behold, I have known your thoughts, And the schemes against me you do wrongfully.
28 Jer pitate: 'Gdje je kuća plemićeva, šator u kojem stanovahu opaki?'
For you say, Where [is] the house of the noble? And where the tent—the dwelling places of the wicked?
29 Niste li na cesti putnike pitali, zar njihovo svjedočanstvo ne primate:
Have you not asked those passing by the way? And do you not know their signs?
30 'Opaki je u dan nesreće pošteđen i u dan Božje jarosti veseo je.'
That the wicked is spared to a day of calamity. They are brought to a day of wrath.
31 Al' na postupcima tko će mu predbacit' i tko će mu vratit' što je počinio?
Who declares his way to his face? And [for] that which he has done, Who gives repayment to him?
32 A kad ga na kraju na groblje odnesu, na grobni mu humak postavljaju stražu.
And he is brought to the graves, And a watch is kept over the heap.
33 Lake su mu grude zemlje u dolini dok za njime ide čitavo pučanstvo.
The clods of the valley have been sweet to him, And he draws every man after him, And there is no numbering before him.
34 O, kako su vaše utjehe isprazne! Kakva su prijevara vaši odgovori!”
And how do you comfort me [with] vanity, And trespass has been left in your answers?”
