1 Tri mjeseca nakon izlaska iz zemlje egipatske, istoga dana, stignu Izraelci u Sinajsku pustinju.

2 Idući od Refidima, dođu u Sinajsku pustinju i utabore se u pustinji. Postave Izraelci tabor tu pred brdom,

3 a Mojsije se popne k Bogu. Jahve ga zovne s brda pa mu rekne: “Ovako kaži domu Jakovljevu, proglasi djeci Izraelovoj:
and Moses to ascend: rise to(wards) [the] God and to call: call to to(wards) him LORD from [the] mountain: mount to/for to say thus to say to/for house: household Jacob and to tell to/for son: descendant/people Israel
4 'Vi ste vidjeli što sam učinio Egipćanima; kako sam vas nosio na orlovskim krilima i k sebi vas doveo.
you(m. p.) to see: see which to make: do to/for Egypt and to lift: bear [obj] you upon wing eagle and to come (in): bring [obj] you to(wards) me
5 Stoga, budete li mi se vjerno pokoravali i držali moj Savez, vi ćete mi biti predraga svojina mimo sve narode - tÓa moj je sav svijet! -
and now if to hear: obey to hear: obey in/on/with voice my and to keep: obey [obj] covenant my and to be to/for me possession from all [the] people for to/for me all [the] land: country/planet
6 vi ćete mi biti kraljevstvo svećenika, narod svet.' Tim riječima oslovi Izraelce.”
and you(m. p.) to be to/for me kingdom priest and nation holy these [the] word which to speak: speak to(wards) son: descendant/people Israel
7 Mojsije se vrati i sazva narodne starješine te im izloži sve što mu je Jahve naredio.
and to come (in): come Moses and to call: call to to/for old: elder [the] people and to set: make to/for face: before their [obj] all [the] word [the] these which to command him LORD
8 A sav narod uzvrati jednoglasno: “Vršit ćemo sve što je Jahve naredio.” Onda Mojsije prenese odgovor naroda Jahvi.
and to answer all [the] people together and to say all which to speak: speak LORD to make: do and to return: reply Moses [obj] word [the] people to(wards) LORD
9 Nato Jahve reče Mojsiju: “Ja ću, evo, doći k tebi u gustom oblaku da narod čuje kad budem s tobom govorio i da ti zauvijek vjeruje.” Tako je Mojsije prenio Jahvi odgovor naroda.
and to say LORD to(wards) Moses behold I to come (in): come to(wards) you in/on/with cloud [the] cloud in/on/with for the sake of to hear: hear [the] people in/on/with to speak: speak I with you and also in/on/with you be faithful to/for forever: enduring and to tell Moses [obj] word [the] people to(wards) LORD
10 “Pođi k narodu”, reče Jahve Mojsiju, “i posvećuj ga danas i sutra. Neka opere svoju odjeću;
and to say LORD to(wards) Moses to go: went to(wards) [the] people and to consecrate: consecate them [the] day and tomorrow and to wash mantle their
11 neka bude gotov prekosutra, jer će prekosutra sići Jahve na brdo Sinaj naočigled svega puka.
and to be to establish: prepare to/for day [the] third for in/on/with day [the] third to go down LORD to/for eye: seeing all [the] people upon mountain: mount Sinai
12 Postavi naokolo granicu za narod i izdaj naredbu: 'Pripazite da se na brdo ne penjete; da se ni podnožja ne dotičete! Tko se god brda dotakne, smrt će ga snaći.
and to border [obj] [the] people around to/for to say to keep: careful to/for you to ascend: rise in/on/with mountain: mount and to touch in/on/with end his all [the] to touch in/on/with mountain: mount to die to die
13 Nikakva ruka neka ga se ne dotakne, nego neka bude kamenjem zasut ili strijelom ustrijeljen: bio čovjek ili živinče, neka na životu ne ostane.' Na otegnuti zvuk trube neka se na brdo penju.”

14 Mojsije siđe s brda k narodu i poče posvećivati narod. Oni operu svoju odjeću.
and to go down Moses from [the] mountain: mount to(wards) [the] people and to consecrate: consecate [obj] [the] people and to wash mantle their
15 “Budite gotovi za prekosutra!” - rekne Mojsije narodu. “Ne primičite se ženi!”
and to say to(wards) [the] people to be to establish: prepare to/for three day not to approach: approach to(wards) woman
16 A prekosutra, u osvit dana, prolomi se grmljavina, munje zasijevaše, a gust se oblak nadvi nad brdo. Gromko zaječa truba, zadrhta sav puk koji bijaše u taboru.
and to be in/on/with day [the] third in/on/with to be [the] morning and to be voice: thunder and lightning and cloud heavy upon [the] mountain: mount and voice: sound trumpet strong much and to tremble all [the] people which in/on/with camp
17 Mojsije povede puk iz tabora u susret Bogu. Stadoše na podnožju brda.
and to come out: send Moses [obj] [the] people to/for to encounter: meet [the] God from [the] camp and to stand in/on/with lower [the] mountain: mount
18 Brdo Sinaj zavilo se u dim jer je Jahve u obliku ognja sišao na nj. Dizao se dim kao dim iz peći. Sve se brdo silno treslo.
and mountain: mount Sinai be angry all his from face: because which to go down upon him LORD in/on/with fire and to ascend: rise smoke his like/as smoke [the] kiln and to tremble all [the] mountain: mount much
19 Zvuk trube bivao sve jači. Mojsije je govorio, a Bog mu grmljavinom odgovarao.
and to be voice: sound [the] trumpet to go: continue and stronger much Moses to speak: speak and [the] God to answer him in/on/with voice: thunder
20 Jahve siđe na Sinajsko brdo, na vrhunac, i pozva Jahve Mojsija na vrhunac brda. Mojsije se uspe.
and to go down LORD upon mountain: mount Sinai to(wards) head: top [the] mountain: mount and to call: call to LORD to/for Moses to(wards) head: top [the] mountain: mount and to ascend: rise Moses
21 Sad Jahve reče Mojsiju: “Siđi i opomeni narod da ne bi provalio prema Jahvi da ga vidi. Mnogo bi ih poginulo.
and to say LORD to(wards) Moses to go down to testify in/on/with people lest to overthrow to(wards) LORD to/for to see: see and to fall: kill from him many
22 I sami svećenici, koji dolaze blizu Jahvi, moraju se očistiti, da ih Jahve ne uništi.”
and also [the] priest [the] to approach: approach to(wards) LORD to consecrate: consecate lest to break through in/on/with them LORD
23 “Narod se ne može popeti na brdo Sinaj”, odgovori Mojsije Jahvi, “jer si nas sam ti opomenuo: 'Postavi granice naokolo brda i proglasi ga svetim.'”
and to say Moses to(wards) LORD not be able [the] people to/for to ascend: rise to(wards) mountain: mount Sinai for you(m. s.) to testify in/on/with us to/for to say to border [obj] [the] mountain: mount and to consecrate: consecate him
24 “Siđi pa se opet popni zajedno s Aronom”, odgovori mu Jahve. “Ali neka svećenici i narod ne navaljuju da se popnu prema Jahvi da ne izginu.”
and to say to(wards) him LORD to go: went to go down and to ascend: rise you(m. s.) and Aaron with you and [the] priest and [the] people not to overthrow to/for to ascend: rise to(wards) LORD lest to break through in/on/with them
25 Mojsije siđe k narodu i sve mu kaza.
and to go down Moses to(wards) [the] people and to say to(wards) them
