Ponovljeni zakon 3

1 Tada se okrenusmo i pođosmo prema Bašanu. Presrete nas bašanski kralj Og sa svim svojim narodom i nametnu nam boj kod Edreja.

“And we turn and go up the way to Bashan, and Og king of Bashan comes out to meet us, he and all his people, to the battle [at] Edrei.

2 Tada mi Jahve reče: 'Ne boj ga se! TÓa u tvoje sam ruke predao njega, sav njegov narod i njegovu zemlju. Učini s njim kako si učinio sa Sihonom, kraljem amorejskim, koji je živio u Hešbonu.'

And YHWH says to me, Do not fear him, for I have given him, and all his people, and his land into your hand, and you have done to him as you have done to Sihon king of the Amorite who is dwelling in Heshbon.

3 Tako je Jahve, Bog naš, u ruke naše predao i bašanskoga kralja Oga sa svim njegovim narodom. Tukli smo ga tako da mu nitko na životu nije ostao.

And our God YHWH indeed gives Og king of Bashan and all his people into our hands, and we strike him until there has been no remnant left to him;

4 Osvojili smo tada sve njegove gradove. Nije bilo grada koji im nismo oteli - šezdeset gradova, zapravo svu argopsku krajinu, Ogovo kraljevstvo u Bašanu.

and we capture all his cities at that time; there has not been a city which we have not taken from them—sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

5 Svi su oni gradovi bili utvrđeni visokim zidinama, vratima i prijevornicama. Uz njih je bilo veoma mnogo otvorenih zaselaka.

All these [are] cities fortified with high walls, double gates, and bar, apart from very many cities of the open place;

6 Udarismo ih prokletstvom - kako smo učinili i sa Sihonom, kraljem hešbonskim - zatrvši svaki grad, ljude, žene i djecu.

and we devote them, as we have done to Sihon king of Heshbon, devoting [the] men, the women, and the infants of every city;

7 A svu stoku i plijen po tim gradovima zadržasmo za se.

and all the livestock, and the spoil of the cities, we have spoiled for ourselves.

8 Tako smo u ono vrijeme iz ruku dvaju amorejskih kraljeva uzeli zemlju što se nalazi s onu stranu Jordana, od potoka Arnona do brda Hermona (

And at that time we take the land out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorite, which is beyond the Jordan, from the Brook of Arnon to Mount Hermon

9 Sidonci zovu Hermon Sirjon, a Amorejci ga zovu Senir):

(Sidonians call Hermon Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir),

10 sve gradove po Visoravni, sav Gilead i sav Bašan, sve do Salke i Edreja - gradove Ogova kraljevstva u Bašanu. (

all the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, as far as Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

11 Bašanski kralj Og jedini je od preostalih Refaimovaca. Krevet njegov, odar od željeza, još se nalazi u Rabi, gradu sinova Amonovih: deset je lakata - običnih lakata - dug, a četiri lakta širok.)

For only Og king of Bashan had been left of the remnant of the Rephaim; behold, his bedstead [is] a bedstead of iron. Is it not in Rabbath of the sons of Ammon? Its length [is] nine cubits and its breadth [is] four cubits, by the cubit of a man.

12 To je, dakle, bila zemlja koju smo zauzeli u ono vrijeme, počev od Aroera, koji je na potoku Arnonu. Polovicu gileadskog pogorja s njegovim gradovima dao sam Rubenovcima i Gadovcima.

And this land, [which] we had possessed at that time, from Aroer, which [is] by the Brook of Arnon, and the half of Mount Gilead and its cities, I have given to the Reubenite and to the Gadite;

13 Ostatak Gileada i sav Bašan, Ogovo kraljevstvo, dodijelio sam polovini Manašeova plemena. (Sva argopska krajina i sav Bašan zove se zemlja refaimska.

and the rest of Gilead and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I have given to the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan—it is called the land of [the] Rephaim.

14 Manašeov sin Jair zauzeo je svu argopsku krajinu do međe Gešurovaca i Maakinovaca. On ta mjesta bašanska nazva svojim imenom, pa se još i danas zovu Jairova Sela.)

Jair son of Manasseh has taken all the region of Argob, as far as the border of Geshuri and Maachathi ([namely] Bashan), and calls them by his own name, Havoth-Jair, to this day.

15 Makiru sam dodijelio Gilead.

And I have given Gilead to Machir.

16 Rubenovcima i Gadovcima dao sam od Gileada do potoka Arnona - sredina potoka jest međa - i do potoka Jaboka, amonske granice.

And to the Reubenite and to the Gadite I have given from Gilead even to the Brook of Arnon, the middle of the valley and the border, even to the Brook of Jabbok, the border of the sons of Ammon,

17 A granicom su služile Araba i Jordan od Kinereta do mora uz Arabu - Slanog mora - na podnožju obronaka Pisge prema istoku.

and the plain, and the Jordan, and the border, from Chinnereth even to the Sea of the Plain (the Salt Sea), under the Springs of Pisgah, at the [sun]-rising.

18 U ono vam vrijeme naredih: 'Jahve, Bog vaš, daje vam ovu zemlju u posjed. Svi vi koji ste od boja pođite naoružani pred svojom braćom Izraelcima.

And at that time I command you, saying, Your God YHWH has given this land to you to possess it; you pass over armed before your brothers the sons of Israel, all the sons of might.

19 Jedino žene vaše, djeca vaša i stoka vaša - znam da imate mnogo stoke - neka ostanu u vašim gradovima što vam ih dodijelih

Only your wives, and your infants, and your livestock—I have known that you have much livestock—dwell in your cities which I have given to you,

20 dokle Jahve ne dadne miran boravak i vašoj braći kao i vama; tako da i oni zauzmu zemlju što im je Jahve, Bog vaš, daje s onu stranu Jordana. Istom onda neka se svaki od vas vrati na posjed što sam vam ga dodijelio.'

until YHWH gives rest to your brothers like yourselves, and they also have possessed the land which your God YHWH is giving to them beyond the Jordan; then you have each turned back to his possession which I have given to you.

21 U ono sam vrijeme naredio Jošui: 'Svojim si očima vidio što je sve Jahve, Bog vaš, učinio onoj dvojici kraljeva. Tako će Jahve učiniti sa svim kraljevstvima preko kojih budeš prelazio.

And I have commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Your eyes are seeing all that which your God YHWH has done to these two kings—so YHWH does to all the kingdoms to where you are passing over;

22 Ne bojte se njih! TÓa Jahve, Bog vaš, bori se za vas.'

do not fear them, for your God YHWH—He is fighting for you.

23 Tada zamolih milost u Jahve:

And to YHWH I beg for grace at that time, saying,

24 'Gospodine moj, Jahve! Ti si počeo pokazivati svome sluzi svoju veličajnost i svoju moć. TÓa koji bog, na nebu ili na zemlji, može izvesti takva djela i čudesa kao što su tvoja!

Lord YHWH, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your strong hand; for who [is] a god in the heavens or in earth who does according to Your works and according to Your might?

25 Dopusti mi da odem onamo i pogledam onu blaženu zemlju preko Jordana, onaj krasni gorski kraj i Libanon!'

Please let me pass over and see the good land which [is] beyond the Jordan, this good hill-country, and Lebanon.

26 Ali je Jahve, zbog vas, bio na me ljut, pa me nije uslišao. 'Dosta', reče mi Jahve, 'ne govori mi više o tom!

And YHWH shows Himself angry with me for your sake, and has not listened to me, and YHWH says to me, Enough of you; do not add to speak to Me about this thing anymore;

27 Popni se na vrhunac Pisge i upri oči svoje na zapad, sjever, jug i istok. Razmotri dobro očima svojim, jer preko Jordana nećeš prijeći.

go up [to] the top of Pisgah, and lift up your eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and see with your eyes, for you do not pass over this Jordan;

28 Uputi Jošuu, osokoli ga i ohrabri! On neka ide na čelu ovoga naroda; neka ih on uvede u posjed zemlje koju vidiš.'

and charge Joshua, and strengthen him, and harden him, for he passes over before this people, and he causes them to inherit the land which you see.

29 Tako smo ostali u toj dolini kraj Bet Peora.”

And we dwell in a valley opposite Beth-Peor.”
