Amos 3
1 Počujte, sinovi Izraelovi, ovu riječ koju Jahve zbori protiv vas, protiv svakoga roda što ga izvedoh iz zemlje egipatske:
Hear this word which the Lord hath spoken concerning you, O children of Israel, concerning the whole family which I have brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,
2 “Među svim plemenima zemaljskim samo vas poznah, zato ću vas kazniti za sve grijehe vaše.”
Only you have I loved out of all the families of the earth: therefore will I visit upon you all your iniquities.
3 Idu li dvojica zajedno da se ne dogovore?
Will two walk together, except they had agreed [to do so]?
4 Riče li lav u šumi ako plijena nema? Reži li lavić u brlogu ako ništa ne ulovi?
Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion send forth his voice out of his den, unless he have caught something?
5 Pada l' ptica na zemlju ako na njoj zamke nema? Diže li se mreža sa zemlje ako se ništa ne uhvati?
Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, when there is no gin for him? is ever a snare taken up from the ground, when it hath caught nothing at all?
6 Trubi li truba po gradu da se narod ne uzbuni? Hoće li kob pogoditi grad ako je Jahve ne pošalje?
Shall a cornet be blown in a city, and the people not become afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord have not done it?
7 Ništa ne čini Jahve Gospod a da osnove svoje ne otkrije slugama svojim prorocima.
For the Lord Eternal will do nothing, unless he have revealed his secret unto his servants the prophets.
8 Lav riče: tko da se ne prestravi? Gospod Jahve govori: tko da ne prorokuje?
The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord Eternal hath spoken, who will not prophesy?
9 Proglasite ovo po dvorcima asirskim i po dvorcima u zemlji egipatskoj; recite: “Skupite se na planini Samarije, pogledajte velik nered u njoj i tlačenje posred nje.”
Publish at the palaces in Ashdod, and at the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great confusions in her midst, and the oppressions [that are] within her.
10 Jer ne znaju činiti pravo - riječ je Jahvina - u dvorcima gomilaju nasilje i tlačenje.
For they know not how to act rightly, saith the Lord, who treasure up violence and robbery in their palaces.
11 Stog ovako govori Jahve Gospod: “Neprijatelj će opkoliti zemlju, utvrde će tvoje razvaliti, tvoje dvorce oplijeniti.”
Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, The adversary [is there] and surroundeth the land: and he shall bring down from thee thy strength, and thy palaces shall be plundered.
12 Ovako govori Jahve: “Kao kad pastir istrgne dvije golijeni ili komadić uha iz lavljih ralja, tako će se istrgnuti sinovi Izraelovi koji sjede u Samariji na rubu počivaljke i na divanima.”
Thus hath said the Lord, As the shepherd snatcheth out of the mouth of the lion [at most] two leg-bones, or a tip of the ear: so shall be delivered the children of Israel that sit in Samaria on the corner of a bed, and on Damascus couches.
13 Čujte i posvjedočite protiv doma Jakovljeva - riječ je Jahve Gospoda, Boga nad Vojskama:
Hear ye, and give warning in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord Eternal, the God of hosts.
14 “Onoga dana kad kaznim Izraela za zločine, kaznit ću i žrtvenike betelske; žrtvenički će se rozi odlomiti i na tlo popadati.
For on the day when I visit the transgressions of Israel upon him, will I also inflict punishment on the altars of Beth-el: and then shall be hewn off the horns of the altar, and they shall fall to the ground.
15 Razorit ću zimsku kuću i ljetnu kuću, propast će kuće bjelokosne. Mnogih će kuća nestati” - riječ je Jahvina.
And I will smite the winter-house together with the summer-house: and the houses of ivory shall disappear, and the great houses shall be no more, saith the Lord.
