1 ⲁ̅ ⲁϥϩⲱⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡϣⲁ ⲛⲁⲑⲁⲃ ⲡⲉⲧⲉ ϣⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ
Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called ‘Passover’, drew near.
2 ⲃ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲛⲥⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲕⲟϥ ⲛⲉⲩⲣ ϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ϩⲏⲧϥ ⲙⲡⲗⲁⲟⲥ
And the chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to kill Him, because they feared the people.
3 ⲅ̅ ⲁⲡⲥⲁⲧⲁⲛⲁⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲥ ⲡⲉⲧⲉ ϣⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲥⲕⲁⲣⲓⲱⲧⲏⲥ ⲉⲩⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲡⲉ ϩⲛ ⲧⲏⲡⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲙⲡⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ
Then Satan entered Judas (the one surnamed Iscariot), who was numbered among the Twelve.
4 ⲇ̅ ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥϫⲱ ⲛⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲥⲧⲣⲁⲧⲏⲅⲟⲥ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲙⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲓⲇⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲁⲩ
So he went off and conferred with the chief priests and officers about how he might betray Him to them.
5 ⲉ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲁⲩⲥⲙⲛⲧⲥ ⲛⲙⲙⲁϥ ⲉϯ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛϩⲉⲛϩⲟⲙⲛⲧ
They were glad, and agreed to give him silver coins.
6 ⲋ̅ ⲁϥⲉⲝⲟⲙⲟⲗⲟⲅⲓ ⲁϥϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲥⲁ ⲟⲩⲟⲓϣ ⲙⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲓⲇⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲁϫⲛ ⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ
So he promised, and started looking for an opportunity to betray Him to them, without a crowd.
7 ⲍ̅ ⲁⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁⲑⲁⲃ ϩⲱⲛ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲏⲡ ⲉϣⲉⲧⲡ ⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ
Then came the day of unleavened bread, in which it was necessary to kill the Passover lamb.
8 ⲏ̅ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲓⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲃⲱⲕ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲟⲃⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ ϫⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲟⲩⲟⲙϥ
And He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”
9 ⲑ̅ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲕⲟⲩⲉϣ ⲧⲣⲉⲛⲥⲟⲃⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲧⲱⲛ
So they said to Him, “Where do you want us to prepare?”
10 ⲓ̅ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲁⲛⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲓⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲁⲧⲱⲙⲛⲧ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲉⲣⲉⲟⲩϣⲟϣⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ϩⲓϫⲱϥ ⲟⲩⲁϩ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲛⲥⲱϥ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲏⲓ ⲉⲧϥⲛⲁ ⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲣⲟϥ
He said to them: “Note, upon entering the city a man carrying a jar of water will meet you; follow him into the house which he enters.
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲙⲡⲏⲓ ϫⲉ ⲡⲥⲁϩ ⲡⲉⲧϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲕ ϫⲉ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲁⲙⲁ ⲛϭⲟⲓⲗⲉ ⲧⲱⲛ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉϯⲛⲁⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲙⲡⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲁⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ
Then you must say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you: Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲁⲧⲥⲁⲃⲱⲧⲛ ⲉⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲙⲙⲁ ⲛⲧⲡⲉ ⲉϥⲡⲟⲣϣ ⲥⲃⲧⲱⲧϥ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲙⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ
He himself will show you a large upper room, all furnished; make preparations there.”
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲁⲩⲃⲱⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲥⲟⲃⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ
So off they went and found things just as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲩⲛⲟⲩ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲁϥⲛⲟϫϥ ⲛⲙⲡⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ
When the hour had come, He reclined, and the twelve apostles with Him.
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲉⲡⲓⲑⲩⲙⲓⲁ ⲁⲓⲉⲡⲓⲑⲩⲙⲓ ⲉⲩⲱⲙ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ ϣⲛⲙ ⲛⲙⲙⲏⲧⲛ ⲉⲙⲡⲁϯⲙⲟⲩ
Then He said to them: “I have fervently desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ϯϫⲱ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲁⲟⲩⲟⲙϥ ϣⲁⲛⲧϥϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲣⲣⲟ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
I tell you further that I will not eat of it again until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.”
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ⲁϥϫⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲁⲡⲟⲧ ⲁϥⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ϫⲓ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲟϣϥ ⲉϫⲱⲧⲛ
And taking a cup He gave thanks and said: “Take this and share it among yourselves.
18 ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ ϯϫⲱ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲁⲥⲱ ϫⲓⲛ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲓⲅⲉⲛⲏⲙⲁ ⲛⲧⲉⲓⲃⲱ ⲛⲉⲗⲟⲟⲗⲉ ϣⲁⲛⲧⲉ ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲣⲣⲟ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲓ
I tell you further that I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the Kingdom of God comes.”
19 ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϫⲓ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲓⲕ ⲁϥⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲁϥⲡⲟϣϥ ⲁϥⲧⲁⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲧⲁⲁϥ ϩⲁⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲁⲣⲓ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲡⲁⲣⲡⲙⲉⲩⲉ
Then, after the meal, He took bread, gave thanks, broke and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
20 ⲕ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲁⲡⲟⲧ ⲟⲛ ⲙⲙⲛⲛⲥⲁ ⲧⲣⲉⲩⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲓⲁⲡⲟⲧ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲇⲓⲁⲑⲏⲕⲏ ⲃⲃⲣⲣⲉ ⲡⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲁⲥⲛⲟϥ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲡⲁϩⲧϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲁⲣⲱⲧⲛ
He also took the cup, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you.
21 ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ ⲡⲗⲏⲛ ⲉⲓⲥ ⲧϭⲓϫ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲓⲇⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲟⲓ ϩⲓ ⲧⲉⲧⲣⲁⲡⲉⲍⲁ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲓ
“But alas, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table!
22 ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ ϫⲉ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲙⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲧⲥⲏϩ ⲛⲁϥ ⲡⲗⲏⲛ ⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲙⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲧⲁⲁϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓ ⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ
To be sure, the Son of the Man is going as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!”
23 ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲁⲣⲭⲓ ⲛⲥⲩⲛⲍⲏⲧⲓ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲩⲉⲣⲏⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲣ ⲡⲁⲓ
(They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who was about to do this.)
24 ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲟⲩϯⲧⲱⲛ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲛⲟϭ
Now there had actually been a discussion among them as to which of them seemed to be greater.
25 ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲣⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲛϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⲥⲉⲟ ⲙⲡⲉⲩϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲧⲟ ⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲥⲉⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲣⲣⲉϥⲣⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ
So He said to them: “The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called ‘benefactors’.
26 ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲓϩⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲧⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲡⲛⲟϭ ⲉⲧⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲧⲏⲟⲩⲧⲛ ⲙⲁⲣⲉϥⲣ ⲑⲉ ⲙⲡⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧϩⲓϫⲱⲧⲛ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲇⲓⲁⲕⲟⲛⲓ
But not so with you—rather let the greater among you become as the younger, and he who leads as he who serves.
27 ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲛⲟϭ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲏϫ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲇⲓⲁⲕⲟⲛⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲙⲏ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲛⲏϫ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲓϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲙⲏⲧⲉ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲇⲓⲁⲕⲟⲛⲓ
Who is greater, the one reclining or the one serving? Is it not the one reclining? Yet I am among you as the one who serves.
28 ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩϩⲩⲡⲟⲙⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ⲛⲁⲡⲉⲓⲣⲁⲥⲙⲟⲥ
However, you are those who have continued with me in my trials.
29 ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ϩⲱ ϯⲥⲙⲓⲛⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲙⲙⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲉⲛⲧⲁ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ⲥⲙⲓⲛⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲓ ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲛⲧⲣⲣⲟ
And I bestow on you a kingdom, just as my Father bestowed one on me,
30 ⲗ̅ ϫⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲱ ϩⲓϫⲛ ⲧⲁⲧⲣⲁⲡⲉⲍⲁ ϩⲛ ⲧⲁⲙⲛⲧⲣⲣⲟ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ϩⲓϫⲛ ⲛⲉⲑⲣⲟⲛⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲕⲣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲧⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲙⲫⲩⲗⲏ ⲙⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ
so that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom; also you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel!”
31 ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ ⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲉⲓⲥ ⲡⲥⲁⲧⲁⲛⲁⲥ ⲁϥⲁⲓⲧⲓ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ⲉⲥⲉⲕⲧ ⲧⲏⲟⲩⲧⲛ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲥⲟⲩⲟ
Then the Lord said: “Simon, Simon! Indeed Satan has asked for you (pl) so as to sift you like wheat.
32 ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲓⲥⲟⲡⲥ ⲉϫⲱⲕ ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲉⲕⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ ⲱϫⲛ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ϩⲱⲱⲕ ⲕⲟⲧⲕ ⲛⲅⲧⲁϫⲣⲉ ⲛⲉⲕⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ
But I have prayed for you (sg) so that your faith not fail completely; so you, when you have recovered, strengthen your brothers.”
33 ⲗ̅ⲅ̅ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ϯⲥⲃⲧⲱⲧ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲕ ⲉⲉⲓ ⲉⲡⲉϣⲧⲉⲕⲟ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲡⲙⲟⲩ
But he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!”
34 ⲗ̅ⲇ̅ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ϯϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲉ ⲟⲩⲁⲗⲉⲕⲧⲱⲣ ⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲟⲟⲩ ϣⲁⲛⲧⲕⲁⲡⲁⲣⲛⲁ ⲙⲙⲟⲓ ⲛϣⲙⲛⲧ ⲥⲱⲱⲡ ϫⲉ ⲛϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲛ
So He said, “I say to you, Peter, no rooster can crow today before you deny three times that you know me!”
35 ⲗ̅ⲉ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲓϫⲉⲩ ⲧⲏⲟⲩⲧⲛ ⲁϫⲛ ⲧⲱⲱⲙⲉ ϩⲓ ⲡⲏⲣⲁ ϩⲓ ⲧⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲙⲏ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲱⲱⲧ ⲗⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲉ
Then He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?” And they said, “Nothing.”
36 ⲗ̅ⲋ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲡⲉⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲧϥ ⲧⲱⲱⲙⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲉϥϥⲓ ϩⲟⲙⲟⲓⲱⲥ ⲡⲉⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲧϥ ⲟⲩⲡⲏⲣⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧ ⲉⲙⲙⲛⲧⲁϥ ⲙⲁⲣⲉ ϥϯ ⲧⲉϥϣⲧⲏⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϥⲧⲉⲩ ⲟⲩⲥⲏϥⲉ ⲛⲁϥ
So He said to them: “But now, he who has a money bag should take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword must sell his garment and buy one.
37 ⲗ̅ⲍ̅ ϯϫⲱ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲥⲏϩ ⲉⲧⲃⲏⲏⲧ ϩⲁⲡⲥ ⲉⲧⲣⲉϥϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧ ϫⲉ ⲁⲩⲟⲡⲧ ⲛⲙⲛⲛⲁⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲕⲁⲓⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲡⲉⲧⲏⲡ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ ϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
Because I say to you that this which is written must still be fulfilled in me: ‘And he was classed with the lawless’; and because the things concerning me have an end.”
38 ⲗ̅ⲏ̅ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲓⲥ ⲥⲏϥⲉ ⲥⲛⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲙⲁ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲥⲉⲣⲱϣⲉ
So they said, “Look, Lord, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.”
39 ⲗ̅ⲑ̅ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲉϥⲥⲱⲛⲧ ⲉⲡⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲛϫⲟⲓⲧ ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲁϩⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲥⲱϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ
Then going out He went to the Mount of Olives, as His custom was, and His disciples followed Him.
40 ⲙ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲉⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲉϫⲙ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ϣⲗⲏⲗ ⲉⲧⲙⲧⲣⲉⲧⲛⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲉⲓⲣⲁⲥⲙⲟⲥ
When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray, so as not to enter into temptation.”
41 ⲙ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲡⲛⲟⲩϫⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲛⲉ ⲁϥⲕⲗϫ ⲛⲉϥⲡⲁⲧ
Then He withdrew from them about a stone's throw, knelt down and prayed,
42 ⲙ̅ⲃ̅ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲕⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲙⲁⲣⲉ ⲡⲉⲓⲁⲡⲟⲧ ⲥⲁⲁⲧ ⲡⲗⲏⲛ ⲙⲁⲣⲉ ⲡⲉⲕⲟⲩⲱϣ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲙⲡⲱⲓ ⲁⲛ
saying, “Father, if you would just remove this cup from me—nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done!”
43 ⲙ̅ⲅ̅
Then an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him.
44 ⲙ̅ⲇ̅
And being in anguish He prayed with total concentration; then His sweat became like clots of blood, falling to the ground.
45 ⲙ̅ⲉ̅ ⲁϥⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥϣⲗⲏⲗ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲁϥϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲛⲕⲟⲧⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲧⲗⲩⲡⲏ
When He rose up from prayer and came to the disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow.
46 ⲙ̅ⲋ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲁϩⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲕⲟⲧⲕ ⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ϣⲗⲏⲗ ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲉⲓⲣⲁⲥⲙⲟⲥ
He said to them: “Why do you sleep? Get up and pray, that you may not enter into temptation!”
47 ⲙ̅ⲍ̅ ⲉⲧⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉⲓⲥ ⲟⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉϣⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲉϥⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲁϥϩⲱⲛ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲓⲏⲥ ⲉϯⲡⲓ ⲉⲣⲱϥ
But while He was still speaking—wow, a crowd; and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them! He approached Jesus to kiss Him (he had given them this sign, “Whomever I kiss, it is he”).
48 ⲙ̅ⲏ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲡⲓ ⲉⲕⲛⲁϯⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ
So Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of the Man with a kiss?”
49 ⲙ̅ⲑ̅ ⲁⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉⲧⲙⲡⲉϥⲕⲱⲧⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲧⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲧⲁⲣⲛϩⲓⲟⲩⲉ ⲛⲧⲥⲏϥⲉ
When those who were around Him saw what was about to happen, they said to Him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”
50 ⲛ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲣⲱϩⲧ ⲙⲡϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲙⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲁϥϥⲓ ⲡⲉϥⲙⲁⲁϫⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲟⲩⲛⲁⲙ
And a certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear!
51 ⲛ̅ⲁ̅ ⲁⲓⲏⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ϭⲱ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲁϥϫⲱϩ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲡⲉϥⲙⲁⲁϫⲉ ⲁϥⲧⲁⲗϭ ⲟϥ
But Jesus reacted by saying, “Allow at least this!” and touching his ear He healed him.
52 ⲛ̅ⲃ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲉⲧⲛⲏⲩ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱϥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲥⲧⲣⲁⲧⲏⲅⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲉⲣⲡⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲡⲣⲉⲥⲃⲩⲧⲉⲣⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲥⲁⲟⲩⲱϫ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲛⲥⲏϥⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲛϣⲉ
Then Jesus said to the chief priests, officers of the temple, and elders who had come against Him: “Have you come out with swords and clubs as against a bandit?
53 ⲛ̅ⲅ̅ ⲙⲙⲏⲛⲉ ⲉⲓϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲣⲡⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲛⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲛϭⲓϫ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱⲓ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲝⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⲡⲕⲁⲕⲉ
When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour; even the authority of the darkness!”
54 ⲛ̅ⲇ̅ ⲁⲩⲁⲙⲁϩⲧⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲛⲧϥ ⲁⲩϫⲓⲧϥ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲏⲓ ⲙⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉϥⲟⲩⲏϩ ⲛⲥⲱϥ ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲉ
Then they seized, took and brought Him to the house of the high priest, with Peter following at a distance.
55 ⲛ̅ⲉ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲩϫⲉⲣⲉⲩ ϣⲁϩ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲙⲏⲧⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲗⲏ ⲁⲩϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ⲁⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ϩⲙ ⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲩⲙⲏⲧⲉ
Now when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them.
56 ⲛ̅ⲋ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲩϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉϥϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ϩⲁⲧⲛ ⲡⲕⲱϩⲧ ⲁⲥⲓⲱⲣⲙ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉϩⲣⲁϥ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉⲓⲕⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁϥ
Then a certain servant girl, seeing him sitting by the fire, looked intently at him and said, “This man also was with him.”
57 ⲛ̅ⲍ̅ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲁⲣⲛⲁ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲧⲉⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ
But he denied Him, saying, “Woman, I do not know him!”
58 ⲛ̅ⲏ̅ ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲁ ⲟⲩⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲕⲉⲩⲁ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ϩⲱⲱⲕ ⲛⲧⲕ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲛ
After a little while another saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not!”
59 ⲛ̅ⲑ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲁⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲓⲛⲉ ⲁⲕⲉⲩⲁ ⲧⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲡⲁⲓ ⲛⲙⲙⲁϥ ⲡⲉ ⲕⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲟⲩⲅⲁⲗⲓⲗⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ
Then after about an hour had passed, another started insisting, “Surely this fellow also was with him, because he is a Galilean.”
60 ⲝ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲉⲕϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲓ ⲉϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲁⲡⲁⲗⲉⲕⲧⲱⲣ ⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ
But Peter said, “Man, I don't know what you're talking about!” And immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
61 ⲝ̅ⲁ̅ ⲁⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲕⲟⲧϥ ⲁϥϭⲱϣⲧ ⲉⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲁⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲣⲡⲙⲉⲩⲉ ⲙⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲙⲡⲁⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲁⲗⲉⲕⲧⲱⲣ ⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲟⲟⲩ ⲕⲛⲁⲁⲡⲁⲣⲛⲁ ⲙⲙⲟⲓ ⲛϣⲙⲧ ⲥⲱⲱⲡ
And the Lord turned and looked directly at Peter; then Peter remembered the Lord's word, how He had said to him, “Before a rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”
62 ⲝ̅ⲃ̅ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁϥⲣⲓⲙⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲓϣⲉ
And going outside he wept bitterly.
63 ⲝ̅ⲅ̅ ⲣⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲁⲙⲁϩⲧⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲥⲱⲃⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲩϩⲓⲟⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ
The men who were guarding Jesus started mocking and beating Him.
64 ⲝ̅ⲇ̅ ⲁⲩϩⲃⲥ ⲡⲉϥϩⲟ ⲁⲩϫⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲣⲁϩⲧⲕ
And having blindfolded Him they would hit His face and ask Him, saying: “Prophesy! Who was it who struck you?”
65 ⲝ̅ⲉ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲛⲕⲉⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲛϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲩϫⲓⲟⲩⲁ
And they kept saying many other insulting things to Him.
66 ⲝ̅ⲋ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉ ϩⲧⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲇⲉ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉⲡⲣⲉⲥⲃⲩⲧⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲁⲩϫⲓⲧϥ ⲉⲡⲥⲩⲛϩⲉⲇⲣⲓⲟⲛ
As soon as it was day, the elders of the people, both the chief priests and scribes, came together and brought Him before their council, saying,
67 ⲝ̅ⲍ̅ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲁϫⲓⲥ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲉⲓϣⲁⲛϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ
“If you are the Messiah, tell us.” But He said to them: “If I tell you, you simply will not believe.
68 ⲝ̅ⲏ̅ ⲉϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲓϣⲁⲛϫⲛⲟⲩⲧⲛ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲛⲁⲓ
But if I also question you, you will neither answer nor release me.
69 ⲝ̅ⲑ̅ ϫⲓⲛ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉϥϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲥⲁⲟⲩⲛⲁⲙ ⲛⲧϭⲟⲙ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
Hereafter the Son of the Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”
70 ⲟ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ
Then they all said, “Are you then the Son of God?” So He said to them, “You say it because I AM!”
71 ⲟ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲉⲛⲣⲭⲣⲓⲁ ϭⲉ ⲙⲙⲛⲧⲣⲉ ⲉⲣ ⲟⲩ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲣⲱϥ
Then they said: “What further testimony do we need? We ourselves have heard it from his mouth!”
