1 ⲁ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲁⲓϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛⲥⲕⲁⲛⲇⲁⲗⲓⲍⲉ
“These things have I spoken to you, so that you wouldn’t be caused to be scandalized ·to entrap, to cause weak knees that waiver, stumbling block that causes falling, distrusting one that should be trusted and obeyed, disapproving of authority, to judge unfavorably causing displeasure, indignant·.
2 ⲃ̅ ⲁⲩⲣ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲛⲁⲡⲟⲥⲩⲛⲁⲅⲱⲅⲟⲥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲟⲩⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ ϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩⲟⲩⲧ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ⲉϥⲙⲉⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲉϥⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲛⲟⲩϣⲙϣⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
They will put you out of the synagogues. Yes, the time comes that whoever kills you will think that he offers service to God.
3 ⲅ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲩⲛⲁⲣ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲥⲟⲩⲛ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲥⲟⲩⲱⲛⲧ
They will do these things because they have not known haAbba ·the Father·, nor me.
4 ⲇ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲁⲓϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲣϣⲁⲧⲉⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲉⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲣ ⲡⲙⲉⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲁⲓϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲓϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲓⲛ ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲓⲛⲙⲙⲏⲧⲛ ⲡⲉ
But I have told you these things, so that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you about them. I didn’t tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you.
5 ⲉ̅ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲉⲓⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ϣⲁ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲁⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲙⲛⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ϫⲛⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲟⲓ ϫⲉ ⲉⲕⲛⲁ ⲉⲧⲱⲛ
But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’
6 ⲋ̅ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϫⲉ ⲁⲓϫⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲁⲧⲗⲩⲡⲏ ⲙⲉϩ ⲡⲉⲧⲛϩⲏⲧ
But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart.
7 ⲍ̅ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲉⲓϫⲱ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲧⲙⲉ ⲥⲣ ⲛⲟϥⲣⲉ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲉⲉⲓⲉⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲉⲓⲧⲙⲃⲱⲕ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲡⲁⲣⲁⲕⲗⲏⲧⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲩ ⲁⲛ ϣⲁⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲉⲉⲓϣⲁⲛⲃⲱⲕ ⲇⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲧⲛⲛⲟⲟⲩϥ ϣⲁⲣⲱⲧⲛ
Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away, the Counselor won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
8 ⲏ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉϥϣⲁⲛⲉⲓ ϥⲛⲁϫⲡⲓⲉ ⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲉⲕⲣⲓⲥⲓⲥ
When he has come, he will convict the world about abstract sin ·miss the mark·, about righteousness, and about judgment;
9 ⲑ̅ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲙⲉⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲥⲉⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲣⲟⲉⲓ
about abstract sin ·miss the mark·, because they don’t trust in me;
10 ⲓ̅ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲇⲉ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲉⲓⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ϣⲁ ⲡⲓⲱⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲁⲩ ϭⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲣⲟⲉⲓ
about righteousness, because I am going to 'Avi ·my Father·, and you won’t see me any more;
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲉⲕⲣⲓⲥⲓⲥ ⲇⲉ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲣⲭⲱⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲧϭⲁⲓⲟϥ
about judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged.
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲉⲧⲓ ⲟⲩⲛϯ ϩⲁϩ ⲛϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁϣ ϥⲓ ⲁⲛ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ
“I have yet many things to tell you, but you can’t bear them now.
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ϩⲟⲧⲁⲛ ⲉⲣϣⲁⲛⲡⲏ ⲉⲓ ⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲛⲧⲙⲉ ϥⲛⲁϫⲓ ⲙⲟⲓⲧ ϩⲏⲧⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ϩⲛ ⲙⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲉϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ ⲙⲁⲩⲁⲁϥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉϥⲛⲁϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧϥⲛⲁⲥⲟⲧⲙⲉϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ϥⲛⲁⲧⲁⲙⲱⲧⲛ ⲉⲛⲉⲧⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ
However when he, haRuach [the Spirit, Breath] of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming.
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ⲡⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁϯ ⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲉϥⲛⲁϫⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲧⲉ ⲡⲱⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲛϥϫⲱ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ
He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine, and will declare it to you.
All things whatever haAbba ·the Father· has are mine; therefore I said that he takes of mine, and will declare it to you.
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ⲕⲉⲕⲟⲩⲉⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲗⲟ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟⲉⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲛ ⲕⲉⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲣⲟⲉⲓ
A little while, and you will not see me. Again a little while, and you will see me.”
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ϩⲟⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲛⲛⲉⲩⲉⲣⲏⲩ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲕⲉⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲙⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟⲉⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲛ ⲕⲉⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲉⲓⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ϣⲁ ⲡⲓⲱⲧ
Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, “What is this that he says to us, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;’ and, ‘Because I go to haAbba ·the Father·’?”
18 ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ϭⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲓⲕⲟⲩⲉⲓ ⲛⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲉϥϫⲉ ⲟⲩ
They said therefore, “What is this that he says, ‘A little while’? We don’t know what he is saying.”
19 ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ ⲁϥⲉⲓⲙⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲩⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉϫⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲛⲉⲣⲏⲩ ϫⲉ ⲁⲓϫⲟⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲕⲉⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲗⲟ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲕⲉⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ
Therefore Yeshua [Salvation] perceived that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, “Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me?’
20 ⲕ̅ ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛϯϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁⲣⲓⲙⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲟⲓⲧ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ϥⲛⲁⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁⲗⲩⲡⲓ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲗⲩⲡⲏ ⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲉⲩⲣⲁϣⲉ
Most certainly I tell you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.
21 ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ ⲧⲉⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲉⲥⲉⲓ ⲉⲥⲛⲁⲙⲓⲥⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲧⲥ ⲟⲩⲗⲩⲡⲏ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲁⲥⲉⲓ ⲛϭⲓ ⲧⲉⲥⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ ϩⲟⲧⲁⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲥϣⲁⲛϫⲡⲉ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲉⲥⲣ ⲡⲙⲉⲩⲉ ϭⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲑⲗⲓⲯⲓⲥ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲣⲁϣⲉ ϫⲉ ⲁⲥϫⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ
A woman, when she gives birth, has sorrow, because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she does not remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a human being is born into the world.
22 ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ϭⲉ ϩⲱⲧⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲧⲏⲧⲛ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲟⲩⲗⲩⲡⲏ ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲱⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲛ ϯⲛⲁⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲡⲉⲧⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲛ ⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥⲓ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ
Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.
23 ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁϫⲛⲟⲩⲓ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲗⲁⲁⲩ ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϯϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁⲁⲓⲧⲓ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲧⲙⲡⲓⲱⲧ ϥⲛⲁⲧⲁⲁϥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϩⲙ ⲡⲁⲣⲁⲛ
“In that day you will ask me no questions. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of haAbba ·the Father· in my name, he will give it to you.
24 ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ ϣⲁ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲓⲧⲓ ⲗⲗⲁⲁⲩ ϩⲙ ⲡⲁⲣⲁⲛ ⲁⲓⲧⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁϫⲓ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉⲧⲛⲣⲁϣⲉ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉϥϫⲏⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.
25 ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲁⲓϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϩⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲡⲁⲣϩⲟⲓⲙⲓⲁ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲛⲏⲩ ϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲛⲉⲓⲛⲁϣⲁϫⲉ ϭⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲙⲙⲏⲧⲛ ϩⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲡⲁⲣϩⲟⲓⲙⲓⲁ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲡⲁⲣⲣⲏⲥⲓⲁ ⲉⲓⲛⲁϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲏⲧⲛ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲉⲓⲱⲧ
I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. But the time is coming when I will no more speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about haAbba ·the Father·.
26 ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁⲁⲓⲧⲓ ϩⲙ ⲡⲁⲣⲁⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛϯⲛⲁϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲥⲉⲡⲥ ⲡⲓⲱⲧ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ
In that day you will ask in my name; and I don’t say to you, that I will pray to haAbba ·the Father· for you,
27 ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲓⲱⲧ ϥⲙⲉ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲙⲉⲣⲓⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲉⲓⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲓⲱⲧ
for haAbba ·the Father· himself phileo ·affectionate loves, has high regard for· you, because you have phileo ·affectionate loves, high regard for· me, and have trusted that I came from God.
28 ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ ⲛⲧⲁⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲓⲱⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲓ ⲉⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲡⲁⲗⲓⲛ ⲟⲛ ϯⲛⲁⲕⲱ ⲛⲥⲱⲓ ⲙⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲧⲁⲃⲱⲕ ϣⲁ ⲡⲓⲱⲧ
I came from haAbba ·the Father·, and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world, and go to haAbba ·the Father·.”
29 ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲙⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲕϣⲁϫⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲡⲁⲣⲣⲏⲥⲓⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲅϫⲉ ⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲁⲣϩⲟⲓⲙⲓⲁ
His disciples said to him, “Behold, now you speak plainly, and speak no figures of speech.
30 ⲗ̅ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲧⲛⲓⲙⲉ ϫⲉ ⲕⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲛϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲅⲣ ⲭⲣⲓⲁ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲟⲩⲁ ϫⲛⲟⲩⲕ ϩⲙ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲧⲛⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲕⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
Now we know that you know all things, and don’t need for anyone to question you. By this we trust that you came from God.”
31 ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲧⲉⲧⲙⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ
Yeshua [Salvation] answered them, “Do you now trust?
32 ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲟⲩⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲥⲉⲓ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉϫⲱⲱⲣⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲉⲛⲉϥⲙⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲕⲁⲁⲧ ⲙⲁⲩⲁⲁⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛϯϭⲉⲉⲧ ⲙⲁⲩⲁⲁⲧ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲓ
Behold, the time is coming, yes, and has now come, that you will be scattered, everyone to his own place, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because haAbba ·the Father· is with me.
33 ⲗ̅ⲅ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲁⲓϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲕⲱ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲟⲩⲉⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲟⲩⲛⲧⲏⲧⲛ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲟⲩⲑⲗⲓⲯⲓⲥ ϩⲙ ⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲧⲱⲕ ⲛϩⲏⲧ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲁⲓϫⲣⲟ ⲉⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ
I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.”
