1 ⲁ̅ ⲡϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲛⲗⲟⲅⲟⲥ ⲁⲓⲧⲁⲙⲓⲟϥ ⲱ ⲑⲉⲟⲫⲓⲗⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲧⲁⲓⲥ ⲁⲣⲭⲉⲓ ⲛⲁⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛϯ ⲥⲃⲱ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ
The former narrative I composed, O Theophilus, concerning all things which Jesus began to do and teach,
2 ⲃ̅ ϣⲁϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲁⲛⲁⲗⲁⲙⲃⲁⲛⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲁϥϩⲱⲛ ⲉⲧⲟⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⲛⲛⲁⲡⲟⲥⲧⲟⲗⲟⲥ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲉⲧⲁϣⲉⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲙⲡⲉⲩⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲓⲟⲛ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲥⲟⲧⲡⲟⲩ
even to the day in which he was taken up, after he had, by the Holy Spirit, given charge to the Apostles, whom he had chosen.
3 ⲅ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲟⲛ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲁϩⲟϥ ⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉϥⲟⲛϩ ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲁ ⲧⲣⲉϥⲙⲟⲩ ϩⲛ ϩⲁϩ ⲙⲙⲁⲉⲓⲛⲛϩⲙⲉ ⲛϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
To whom, also, he presented himself alive, after his sufferings, by many infallible proofs; being seen by them forty days, and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God.
4 ⲇ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲉϥⲡⲁⲣⲁⲅⲅⲓⲗⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲧⲙⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲑⲓⲗⲏⲙ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉϭⲱ ⲉⲡⲉⲣⲏⲧ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲟⲧⲙⲉϥ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲧ
And having assembled them together, he charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, said he, you have heard from me.
5 ⲉ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲓⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲁϥⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲍⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲍⲉ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲡⲛⲁ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲁ ϩⲁϩ ⲁⲛ ⲛϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϣⲁ ⲧⲡⲉⲛⲧⲏⲕⲟⲥⲧⲏ
For John, indeed, immersed in water, but you shall be immersed in the Holy Spirit, within a few days.
6 ⲋ̅ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ϭⲉ ⲁⲩⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲁⲩϫⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲛ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲓⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲕⲛⲁϯ ⲛⲧⲙⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟ ⲙⲡⲓⲏⲗ
They, therefore, being assembled together, asked him, saying, Lord, wilt thou, at this time, restore the kingdom to Israel?
7 ⲍ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲱⲧⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲥⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲉⲩⲟⲓϣ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲭⲣⲟⲛⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁⲡⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲕⲁⲁⲩ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉϥⲉⲝⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⲙⲁⲩⲁⲁϥ
But he said to them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons which the Father has reserved to himself.
8 ⲏ̅ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁϫⲓ ⲛⲟⲩϭⲟⲙ ⲉⲣϣⲁⲛⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱⲧⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲙⲙⲛⲧⲣⲉ ϩⲛ ⲑⲓⲗⲏⲙ ⲙⲛ ϯⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓⲁ ⲧⲏⲣⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲥⲁⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ϣⲁ ⲁⲣⲏϫϥ ⲙⲡⲕⲁϩ
But you shall receive power by the Holy Spirit coming upon you, and shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and even to the remotest parts of the earth.
9 ⲑ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲕⲗⲟⲟⲗⲉ ϫⲓⲧϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩϥⲓ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧⲟⲩ
And, having said these things, while they beheld, he was lifted up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10 ⲓ̅ ⲉⲩⲉⲓⲟⲣⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲥⲱϥ ⲉϥⲃⲏⲕ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲡⲉ ⲉⲓⲥ ⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲛⲉⲩⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ϩⲓϫⲱⲟⲩ ϩⲛ ϩⲉⲛϩⲃⲥⲱ ⲉⲩⲟⲩⲟⲃϣ
And while they were steadfastly looking up to heaven, as he ascended, behold two men in white raiment stood near them;
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲅⲁⲗⲓⲗⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲁϩⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϭⲱϣⲧ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲛⲧⲁⲩϥⲓⲧϥ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲡⲉ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲧⲉ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲧϥⲛⲏⲩ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉϥⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲡⲉ
who also said, Galileans, why do you stand gazing up to heaven? This Jesus, who is taken up from you into heaven, shall also come in the same manner as you have seen him going to heaven.
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲁⲩⲕⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⲉⲑⲓⲗⲏⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲉϣⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲧ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲏⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲑⲓⲗⲏⲙ ⲛⲟⲩϩⲓⲏ ⲛⲥⲁϣϥ ⲛϩⲟⲟⲩⲧⲛ
Then they returned to Jerusalem, from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a Sabbath day's journey.
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲩⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲛⲧⲡⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲩⲟⲩⲏϩ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲓⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲓⲁⲕⲱⲃⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲛⲇⲣⲉⲁⲥ ⲫⲓⲗⲓⲡⲡⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲑⲱⲙⲁⲥ ⲃⲁⲣⲑⲟⲗⲟⲙⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲙⲁⲑⲑⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲓⲁⲕⲕⲱⲃⲟⲥ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲁⲗⲫⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲡⲍⲏⲗⲱⲧⲏⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲥ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲓⲁⲕⲕⲱⲃⲟⲥ
And when they were come into the city, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James, son of Alpheus, and Simon, the Zealot, and Judas, brother of James.
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲩⲡⲣⲟⲥⲕⲁⲣⲧⲉⲣⲓ ⲉⲡⲉϣⲗⲏⲗ ⲙⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲧⲙⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲓⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉϥⲥⲛⲏⲩ
These all unanimously persevered in prayer, with the women, and with Mary, the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲓϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲁϥⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲙⲏⲧⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲩⲛⲁⲣⲁϣⲉ ϫⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲛⲣⲁⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ
And in these days, Peter, rising up in the midst of the disciples, (now the number of persons assembled was about a hundred and twenty, ) said
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲉⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲛⲉϩⲁⲡⲥ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲧⲉⲓⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ϫⲓⲛ ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲧⲧⲁⲡⲣⲟ ⲛⲇⲁⲩⲓⲇ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲥ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲣⲉϥϫⲓ ⲙⲟⲉⲓⲧ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩϭⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲓⲥ
Brethren, it was necessary this scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit formerly spoke, by the mouth of David, with respect to Judas, who became the guide of those that apprehended Jesus:
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲁⲩⲟⲡϥ ⲡⲉ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϫⲓ ⲙⲡⲉⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲓⲇⲓⲁⲕⲟⲛⲓⲁ
(for he was numbered with us, and had obtained a part of this ministry: )
18 ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ ⲡⲁⲓ ϭⲉ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛⲟⲩϭⲱⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲃⲉⲕⲉ ⲙⲡⲉϥϫⲓ ⲛϭⲟⲛⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϩⲉ ⲉϫⲙ ⲡⲉϥϩⲟ ⲁϥⲡⲱϣ ⲉⲧⲉϥⲙⲏⲧⲉ ⲁⲛⲉⲧⲡⲉϥϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲡⲱⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
this man, therefore, purchased a field with the reward of iniquity, and falling down on his face, he burst asunder in the middle, and all his bowels gushed out:
19 ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲡⲉⲓϩⲱⲃ ϭⲱⲗⲡ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲏϩ ϩⲛ ⲑⲓⲗⲏⲙ ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲛⲥⲉⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲡϭⲱⲙ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲩⲁⲥⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲁⲕⲉⲗⲇⲁⲙⲁⲭ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲡϭⲱⲙ ⲙⲡⲉⲥⲛⲟϥ
and it was known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that field is called, in their language, Aceldama, that is, The Field of Blood.
20 ⲕ̅ ϥⲥⲏϩ ⲅⲁⲣ ϩⲙ ⲡϫⲱⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲯⲁⲗⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲉⲧⲉϥⲣⲥⲱ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛϫⲁⲓⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲡⲣⲧⲣⲉϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲧⲟⲩⲏϩ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉϥⲙⲁ ⲛϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲉϥⲙⲛⲧⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲙⲁⲣⲉⲕⲉⲟⲩⲁ ϫⲓⲧⲥ
For it is written in the book of Psalms, "Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell in it": and, "Let another take his office."
21 ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ ϣϣⲉ ϭⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲛ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲓⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧⲛ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲥ
It is necessary, therefore, that one of the men who have continued with us all the time the Lord Jesus was conversant among us,
22 ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ ⲉⲁϥⲁⲣⲭⲉⲓ ϫⲓⲛ ⲡⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲥⲙⲁ ⲛⲓⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ϣⲁϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲁⲩϥⲓⲧϥ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲧⲛ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲟⲩⲁ ⲛⲛⲁⲓ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲛ ⲙⲙⲛⲧⲣⲉ ⲛⲧⲉϥⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ
commencing from his immersion by John, until the day of his assumption, should be constituted a witness with us, of his resurrection.
23 ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲧⲁϩⲉ ⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⲓⲱⲥⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲧⲉϣⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲃⲁⲣⲥⲁⲃⲁⲥ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁⲩϯⲣⲓⲛϥ ⲉⲓⲟⲩⲥⲧⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲁⲑⲓⲁⲥ
And they set up two men, Joseph, called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
24 ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ ⲁⲩϣⲗⲏⲗ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲉⲧⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲫⲏⲧ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲟⲩⲁ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁⲕⲥⲟⲧⲡϥ
And they prayed, saying, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all, show which of these two thou hast chosen,
25 ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ ⲉϫⲓ ⲙⲡⲙⲁ ⲛⲧⲉⲓⲇⲓⲁⲕⲟⲛⲓⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲁⲡⲟⲥⲧⲟⲗⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲡⲁⲣⲁⲃⲁ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲥ ⲉⲧⲣⲉϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲡⲉϥⲙⲁ ⲙⲙⲓⲛ ⲙⲙⲟϥ
that he may take part of the ministry and apostleship, from which Judas fell by transgression, that he might goes to his own place.
26 ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩϯ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲛϩⲉⲛⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲥ ⲁⲡⲉⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲥ ⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲙ ⲙⲁⲑⲓⲁⲥ ⲁⲩⲟⲡϥ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲙⲛⲧⲟⲩⲉ ⲛⲁⲡⲟⲥⲧⲟⲗⲟⲥ
And they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven Apostles.
