Paul, looking steadfastly at the council, said, "Brothers, I have lived before God in all good conscience until this day."
2 ⲃ̅ ⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲛⲁⲛⲓⲁⲥ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲉϩ ⲥⲁϩⲛⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ϩⲁϩⲧⲏϥ ⲉⲣⲱϩⲧ ⲛⲧⲉϥⲧⲁⲡⲣⲟ
The high priest, Ananias, commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth.
3 ⲅ̅ ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲣⲁϩⲧⲕ ⲧϫⲟ ⲉⲧϫⲏϩ ⲕϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲉⲕⲕⲣⲓⲛⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲓ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲕⲟⲩⲉϩ ⲥⲁϩⲛⲉ ⲡⲁⲣⲁ ⲡⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲉϩⲓⲟⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ
Then Paul said to him, "God will strike you, you whitewashed wall. Do you sit to judge me according to the Law, and command me to be struck contrary to the law?"
4 ⲇ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉⲧⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲉⲕⲥⲁϩⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
Those who stood by said, "Do you malign God's high priest?"
5 ⲉ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲓⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲁⲥⲛⲏⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲡⲉ ϥⲥⲏϩ ⲅⲁⲣ ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲕ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲑⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲁⲣⲭⲱⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲕⲗⲁⲟⲥ
Paul said, "I did not know, brothers, that he was high priest. For it is written, 'You must not speak evil of a ruler of your people.'"
6 ⲋ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲉⲓⲙⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲛⲛⲥⲁ ⲡⲁ ⲛⲥⲁⲇⲇⲟⲩⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲕⲉⲟⲩⲁ ⲡⲁ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲁϥϫⲓϣⲕⲁⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲥⲩⲛϩⲉⲇⲣⲓⲟⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲁⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲁⲛⲅ ⲟⲩⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲉⲩⲕⲣⲓⲛⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲓ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲑⲉⲗⲡⲓⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲙⲟⲟⲩⲧ
But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he shouted in the council, "Men and brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. Concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged."
7 ⲍ̅ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϫⲟⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲥⲁⲇⲇⲟⲩⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲡⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲡⲱϣ
When he had said this, an argument arose between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.
8 ⲏ̅ ⲛⲥⲁⲇⲇⲟⲩⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲥⲉϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲛⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙⲛⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙⲛⲡⲛⲁ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲥⲉϩⲟⲙⲟⲗⲟⲅⲓ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲩⲛⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲩⲛⲡⲛⲁ
For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess all of these.
9 ⲑ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁϣⲕⲁⲕ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲛϭⲓ ϩⲟⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲡⲥⲁ ⲛⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲙⲓϣⲉ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲛϭⲛⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲑⲟⲟⲩ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲓⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲓⲉ ⲉϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲡⲛⲁ ⲏ ⲟⲩⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁϥ ⲙⲡⲣⲧⲣⲉⲛϯ ⲟⲩⲃⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
A great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees part stood up, and contended, saying, "We find no evil in this man. What if a spirit spoke to him, or an angel?"
10 ⲓ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲁⲡⲭⲓⲗⲓⲁⲣⲭⲟⲥ ⲣ ϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲙⲏⲡⲱⲥ ⲛⲥⲉⲙⲟⲩⲟⲩⲧ ⲙⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲉϩ ⲥⲁϩⲛⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲥⲧⲣⲁⲧⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲉⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⲛⲥⲉⲧⲟⲣⲡϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲩⲙⲏⲧⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϫⲓⲧϥ ⲉⲧⲡⲁⲣⲉⲙⲃⲟⲗⲏ
When a great argument arose, the commanding officer, fearing that Paul would be torn in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him by force from among them, and bring him into the barracks.
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲩϣⲏ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲛⲏⲩ ⲁⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ ϩⲓϫⲱϥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲱⲕ ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲛⲑⲉⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲧⲁⲕⲣⲙⲛⲧⲣⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲏⲏⲧ ϩⲛ ⲑⲓⲗⲏⲏⲙ ϩⲁⲡⲥ ⲟⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲕⲣⲙⲛⲧⲣⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲓϩⲉ ϩⲛ ⲧⲕⲉϩⲣⲱⲙⲏ
The following night, the Lord stood by him, and said, "Cheer up, for as you have testified about me at Jerusalem, so you must testify also at Rome."
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϩⲧⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲇⲉ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲁϩⲟⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲱⲣⲕ ⲛⲛⲉⲩⲉⲣⲏⲩ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲥⲱ ϣⲁⲛⲧⲛϩⲱⲧⲃ ⲙⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ
When it was day, the Jews formed a conspiracy, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul.
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲥⲙⲓⲛⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲁⲛⲁϣ ⲛⲉⲩⲛⲁⲣϩⲟⲩⲟ ⲉϩⲙⲉ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ
There were more than forty people who had made this conspiracy.
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ϭⲉ ⲁⲩϯⲡⲉⲩⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲉⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲡⲣⲉⲥⲃⲩⲧⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲁⲛⲁϣ ⲁⲛⲱⲣⲕ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲉⲣⲏⲩ ⲉⲧⲙⲧⲉⲡⲗⲁⲁⲩ ϣⲁⲛⲧⲛϩⲱⲧⲃ ⲙⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ
They came to the chief priests and the elders, and said, "We have bound ourselves under a great curse, to taste nothing until we have killed Paul.
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ⲧⲛⲥⲟⲡⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲧⲛⲣ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲙⲡⲥⲩⲛϩⲉⲇⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲭⲓⲗⲓⲁⲣⲭⲟⲥ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉϥⲉⲛⲧϥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲙⲏⲧⲉ ϩⲱⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁϫⲛⲟⲩϥ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲱⲣϫ ⲉⲛⲉⲧϥⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲛⲥⲃⲧⲱⲧ ⲙⲡⲁⲧϥϩⲱⲛ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉϩⲱⲧⲃ ⲙⲙⲟϥ
Now therefore, you with the council inform the commanding officer that he should bring him down to you, as though you were going to judge his case more exactly. We are ready to kill him before he comes near."
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ⲁϥⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲧⲥⲱⲛⲉ ⲙⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲉⲡⲉⲩⲕⲣⲟϥ ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲧⲡⲁⲣⲉⲙⲃⲟⲗⲏ ⲁϥⲧⲁⲙⲉ ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ
But Paul's sister's son heard of their lying in wait, and he came and entered into the barracks and told Paul.
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲟⲩⲁ ⲛⲛϩⲉⲕⲁⲧⲟⲛⲧⲁⲣⲭⲟⲥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ϫⲓ ⲡⲉⲓϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙϣⲁ ⲡⲭⲓⲗⲓⲁⲣⲭⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲛⲧϥ ⲟⲩϣⲁϫⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉϫⲟⲟϥ ⲉⲣⲟϥ
Paul summoned one of the centurions, and said, "Bring this young man to the commanding officer, for he has something to tell him."
18 ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ ⲁϥⲁⲙⲁϩⲧⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ ⲁϥϫⲓⲧϥ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ϣⲁ ⲡⲭⲓⲗⲓⲁⲣⲭⲟⲥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲡⲉⲧⲙⲏⲣ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ ⲁϥⲥⲉⲡⲥⲱⲡⲧ ⲉⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲓϩⲣϣⲓⲣⲉ ⲉⲩⲛⲧϥ ⲟⲩϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉϫⲟⲟϥ ⲉⲣⲟⲕ
So he took him, and brought him to the commanding officer, and said, "Paul, the prisoner, summoned me and asked me to bring this young man to you, who has something to tell you."
19 ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ ⲁⲡⲭⲓⲗⲓⲁⲣⲭⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲙⲁϩⲧⲉ ⲛⲧⲉϥϭⲓϫ ⲁϥⲥⲉϩⲧϥ ⲉⲩⲥⲁ ⲁϥϫⲛⲟⲩϥϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲟⲩⲛⲧⲁⲕϥ ⲉϫⲟⲟϥ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ
The commanding officer took him by the hand, and going aside, asked him privately, "What is it that you have to tell me?"
20 ⲕ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲧⲁⲥⲥⲉ ⲉⲥⲉⲡⲥⲱⲡⲕ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲕⲉⲛ ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲛⲣⲁⲥⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲏⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲥⲩⲛϩⲉⲇⲣⲓⲟⲛ ϩⲱⲥ ⲉⲩⲛⲁϣⲓⲛⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲱⲣϫ ⲉⲧⲃⲏⲏⲧϥ
And he said, "The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as though they intended to inquire somewhat more thoroughly concerning him.
21 ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ϭⲉ ⲙⲡⲣⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲥⲉϭⲟⲣϭ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛϭⲓ ϩⲟⲩⲟ ⲉϩⲙⲉ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲱⲣⲕ ⲛⲛⲉⲩⲉⲣⲏⲩ ⲉⲧⲙⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲥⲱ ϣⲁⲛⲧⲟⲩϩⲱⲧⲃ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲥⲉⲥⲃⲧⲱⲧ ⲉⲩϭⲱϣⲧ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϣⲁⲛⲧⲕϫⲓ ⲡⲟⲩⲱ ⲛⲁⲩ
Therefore do not yield to them, for more than forty men lie in wait for him, who have bound themselves under a curse neither to eat nor to drink until they have killed him. Now they are ready, looking for the promise from you."
22 ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ ⲡⲭⲓⲗⲓⲁⲣⲭⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲕⲁ ⲡϩⲣϣⲓⲣⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲁϥⲡⲁⲣⲁⲅⲅⲓⲗⲉ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲣϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲉⲗⲁⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲁⲕⲧⲁⲙⲟⲓ ⲉⲛⲁⲓ
So the commanding officer let the young man go, charging him, "Tell no one that you have revealed these things to me."
23 ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲛⲛϩⲉⲕⲁⲧⲟⲛⲧⲁⲣⲭⲟⲥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲥⲃⲧⲉϣⲏⲧ ⲙⲙⲁⲧⲟⲓ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲩⲃⲱⲕ ϣⲁ ⲧⲕⲁⲓⲥⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ϣⲉ ⲛϩⲓⲡⲡⲉⲩⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ϣⲏⲧ ⲛϥⲁⲓⲙⲉⲣⲉϩ ϫⲓⲛ ⲛϫⲡϣⲟⲙⲧⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲩϣⲏ
He called to himself two of the centurions, and said, "Prepare two hundred soldiers to go as far as Caesarea, with seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen, at nine tonight."
24 ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲥⲟⲃⲧⲉ ⲛϩⲉⲛⲧⲃⲛⲟⲟⲩⲉ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲉⲧⲁⲗⲉ ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲛⲥⲉϫⲓⲧϥ ⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ ⲙⲫⲏⲗⲓⲝ ⲫⲏⲅⲉⲙⲱⲛ
He asked them to provide animals, that they might set Paul on one, and bring him safely to Felix the governor.
25 ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ ⲉⲁϥⲥϩⲁⲓ ⲛⲟⲩⲉⲡⲓⲥⲧⲟⲗⲏ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲧⲩⲡⲟⲥ
He wrote a letter like this:
26 ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ ⲕⲗⲁⲩⲇⲓⲟⲥ ⲗⲩⲥⲓⲁⲥ ⲉϥⲥϩⲁⲓ ⲙⲫⲏⲗⲓⲝ ⲡⲉⲕⲣⲁⲧⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ ⲛϩⲏⲅⲉⲙⲱⲛ ⲭⲁⲓⲣⲉ

"This man was seized by the Jews, and was about to be killed by them, when I came with the soldiers and rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman.

Desiring to know the cause why they accused him, I brought him down to their council.

So the soldiers, carrying out their orders, took Paul and brought him by night to Antipatris.

But on the next day they left the horsemen to go with him, and returned to the barracks.

When they came to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, they also presented Paul to him.

When the governor had read it, he asked what province he was from. When he understood that he was from Cilicia, he said,

"I will hear you fully when your accusers also arrive." He commanded that he be kept in Herod's palace.
